I've used these playing live for years. The diameter is perfect for feel and volume (it's just under a 5a). I once tried switching to normal 5a's but found the volume to be a bit high for clubs. These are great all-around performers and the only ones I use.

I have been using these sticks for over ten years. Perfect size all around. Nothing else is close in size. Have tried others and always come back to MP 420 sticks.

Play electronic and these nylon tip 420's are perfect.

I've been using these for years and they're outstanding. Perfect diameter and length, I keep coming back to these every time.

I've always purchase promark drumsticks, and in particular, these Mike Portnoy 420N, and always with excellent quality.
This time, I even doubt they are original ones. The nylon tip seem to be a different material, but mostly it is badly made. It has burr all over the tip. It has a round, edgy one, vertical, another on the top and a lot in the bottom pf the tip. Horrible. I think it will even damage the mesh (electronic) or the drumhead. But must of all the noise is so bad when you hit the cymbal with tue burr.
I will change brand definitely!

I wanted to dislike these sticks since they are a signature series. But alas, they feel fantastic! They didn't bless me with Portnoy chops, but boy oh boy do they feel great in the hand! They feel overall like a 7A but they have the pop of a 5A. They are awesome if you like light, responsive sticks!

If I were to design a drumstick specifically for MY playing style, I would design it EXACTLY this way. The shaft is relatively thin, slightly thinner than a 5A, but the shoulder and taper are thicker then even a 5b and the tip is fairly huge (talkin about drumsticks here, people).
I like a lot of ride cymbal and bell articulation, and the thick shoulder + XL tip are perfect for that. The stick (as a whole) feels fairly thin and light (slightly lighter than my VF 5A's) but the overall balance is great and you get one heck of a THWACK with the front being relatively heavy.
I've been using these sticks for about a year and I'm on my third brick. You will break more of these than you would a 5b I'm sure, but it's worth it for me to have the perfect stick.
I've never seen drumsticks quite like these before and I hope they continue to make them, because if they stop, or run out, I WILL cry.

I just got my new sticks and I must say very nice not to light or to heavy a very good feel to them I would buy these again. And thank you Sweetwater and Delvin for all your help .
