Great Pedal

By Sonny W. from MS Gulf Coast
Music Background: amateur, recreational player but love to play

I received this yesterday and have been playing with it ever since. I like the black color, the light brightening/dimmer function, the accu-pitch function, (my favorite thing), ok everything. Plus, I got it on sale.

There is nothing that I don't like. It fits just right on my pedal board and I can power it with my Cioks Sol.

Shipping was quick and Logan was helpful as always.

Boss TU-3W Waza Craft Chromatic Tuner with Bypass

By Asharpminor from North Carolina
Music Background: Amateur musician, sound guy

What is there to say. Its a great tool in your signal chain. No more fumbling with clamp on tuners. Accurate and just a stomp away anytime you need it. Runs nicley off of an MXR iso-brick.Has many features all of which a player may grow into as they progress and situations present. There are many pedals and tuners out there but IMHO Boss builds consistently good pedals. The TU-3W is another example of this tradition.

Good Tuner

By Lars S. from Scottsdale, AZ

Now a days everything has a tuner in it so why buy a pedal? With that this is a classic. The Waza adds the true bypass feature. Looks great and well made.

Building a pedal board for bass. It's a Boss tuner, it buffers & hopefully a niece or nephew need it one day cause I'm not getting any younger.

Good tuner - thru mode sounds better

By Jeff R. from Cameron Park, CA

I bought this pedal because of the option to turn the buffer on and off. If I understand correctly, most Boss pedals are buffered. My DD-5 delay is, and for that reason it's nice to have at the end of my chain for my older rig. However, for my newer Victory VS100 Super Sheriff rig, I think the amp sounds better with the buffer off (thru mode). My eyes are older, so the bright mode is also good. For my older eyes, it's sometimes hard to see the dot indicating a sharp, but overall I like the pedal, and especially the ability to bypass the buffer.

The Waza Touch

By Wilder .. from Missouri
Music Background: Acoustic/Electric Guitar

Previously, I was using the Boss TU-2 (also a great tuner) on my pedal board and wanted something new. So I went and did my research And It eventually led me to the TU-3w, compared to the TU-3 it has some major upgrades. first, it had the buffer switch which is amazing, then it is also black with the blue LEDs. The green LED is super bright so you can tell when you're in tune. Overall it is a great tuner, does not disappoint. Would most definitely recommend.

Touche, Waza

By RDGibson from Sacramento, CA
Music Background: Multi-Instrumentalist

Y'know, I bought the TU-3w on a total whim, figuring I'd just return it if I wasn't impressed. I mean, really. What would you need a tuner nearing the $ range for?

You have to experience it to really get it... but I'm sold on it. Not only is it immediately evident that the TU-3w has some serious literal "fine-tuning" from the first time you use it (especially when you've been accustomed to and happy with a TU-2 for decades) but you'll also find that it's a very good indicator of your axe needing an intonation visit or not.

Waza wins here. And so do those of us who own this tuner. Thanx to Sean DeLeon @ Sweetwater as always for keeping the door open to whatever needs needing.

$ for a tuner?

By Paul
Music Background: Guitarist, 43 years

It's a tuner guys. I bought one and found the difference between by TU-2 and TU-3 was not worth the repurchase, so back it went. Waza is a scam so Boss can resell of their old pedals again, but at crazy prices. Cleartune is like $ for the ad-free app and I have yet to find one more accurate.

Perfect tuner

By John from Austin, TX
Music Background: 45 years jazz and contemporary Christian

Never a fan of strobe style tuners. The Boss is more intuitive for me. Built like a tank and the new display colors are easy to read. Dead accurate tuning and the new built-in buffer is just what is needed at the beginning of the chain.

Dream Pedal Tuner

By Jeff A. from Bakersfield, CA

The title sounds silly but it has honestly been my dream pedal tuner for quite some time. I am extremely pleased with pedal. It does what it is supposed to do with a true bypass. No loss in signal and quiet when tuning. Honestly, I could not be happier.

Great tuner pedal

By Stuart from Broussard, LA

This is my second one, which I bought for a new board that recently put together. Not only does the TU-3w work well, but it also can be used as a power supply for more pedals, which I've done in the past. I suppose the regular TU-3 is good enough, but the Waza version just looks really wicked in comparison. Very functional for multiple instruments and built to last. Thanks to Damian at Sweetwater for getting it to me fast!

Buyers Beware!

By Dylan

This is the worst tuner I've ever used and it's really expensive! I'm a bass player and use tuners constantly for practice and performance. Do not trust this tuner, it will say you are perfectly in tune and intonated correctly across the neck, but you can always tell when something is not right. I plug into my strobe tuner and strings D & G are sharp and E is not even in the ball park of being in tune while the Waza says everything is correct and in tune. The only thing good about it is it looks cool and is built like a tank other than that totally useless.

Old Reliable...

By GlennS from El Paso, TX
Music Background: Lifetime hobbyist guitar plinker. Dayjob required.

I've had a TU-12H Boss Tuner since it came out in the mid 80's. It STILL works great 35 years later!

So when it was time to get my son his own tuner naturally I went where my experience led me-Boss. Sweetwater was out of the TU-3. Even received an email from my great rep Jalen apologizing for the inconvenience with an ETA for their next shipment. I couldn't wait so I sprung for the Waza version. Glad I did. This thing works great and is easy to use. No reason not to expect my son to still be using it 35 years+ from now...

Awesome pedal!

By Noah

Tuning is super simple and can quickly toggle between drop tuning and std. Display is very easy to read even in low light, automatic sensing of 4 or 5 string bass is great. Can't go wrong with this pedal!

Best way to start your pedal chain!

By The Q.
Music Background: Session musician, gearhead, songwriter, engineer

I absolutely loved the sound of the buffer in my ce-2w when I got it, so I knew I needed a waza pedal to start my chain off.

This delivered in the exact way I hoped it would. It sounds great, quiet as a mouse, doesn't feel stiff, love the daisy chain as well. It also doesn't clip on my med-high gain bridge pickup (ceramic bareknuckle nailbomber iirc), which many pedals do. Keeping the signal clean before that first compressor was a big deal for me

For context, my rig is rather articulate on high end, I'd rather pull all the high end I can from the initial signal and use the rest of the chain to shape this. I feel the waza series buffers are just right for me.

Who is this not for? Someone who has a ts-9, crybaby, and a tu-2 in their chain and doesn't feel this affects the clean tone. It's nothing to lose sleep over, many legends used similar rigs to record classic timeless music, but you won't appreciate what this does for that sort of rig.

Very versatile, very accurate and a great addition to my pedal board. The extra brightness setting has solved the problem of tuning at a sunny outdoor venue. I use different tunings and this tuner does the job very well.

Outstanding Tuner

By Donnie C. from Rock Hill
Music Background: Guitarist, Writer, Producer

I have gone through several name brand tuners and the Boss TU-3W is by far the most accurate. The switchable buffer is a great addition to the pedal. Easily allows me to turn on a buffer if need be for long cable distances.

It Tunes

By Ian from New York
Music Background: Metal Guitarist

I bought a tuner pedal for the reason of wanting to have more accurate tuning than a clip-on, and this does that. Not much else to say really, but it definitely tunes.

Great tuner!

By Casey from Lafayette, Louisiana
Music Background: Long time beginner

This pedal feels tough and quality made. It works great and is straight to the point user friendly. I like how you can easily switch between a buffered or clean signal. I'm also using it as the power source for the next three pedals behind it on a small pedal board, which is a great feature. Looks really cool too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a solid well made tuner.

Power problems.

By Dayna from MA

Great tuner, accurate and fast. Confusing to set up; hold the stream/cent and mode buttons down, then press the pedal to turn on"....etc.I wish it just had a function select knob.

The real problem is the unit shuts off and I have to unplug and remove the battery and then reinstall them to get it to work again. This even happens with a fresh battery and after it shuts off, the battery tests indicate full charge and the batteries work fine in other devices.

What a great tuner!

By Mike D. from ATLANTA, GA
Music Background: Blues, Rock, Prog Metal, Jazz

After using a TU-2 (and still do!) for at least 15 years, not only a tuner but also as the power supply for a string of 9v pedals, I figured I'd upgrade as I was also ordering a new amp. I always tell new players to invest in a quality tuner as their first pedal and always recommend a Boss tuner as their first option.

As much as I've loved my TU-2, this unit is superior in terms of construction, performance and features. The tracking is definitely faster and its accuracy is reflected when using the strobe display. The internal buffer doesn't hurt to have either.

I know some will balk at the price, so the standard model TU-3 may be a better option which is also a fine unit as well. I have no reservations about investing in the TU-3w and will probably be purchasing Waza Craft pedals in the future if they are a viable choice over a standard model or a competitor.

Perfect In Every Way

By Avahara from Santa Barbara, CA
Music Background: Electric Gtr, Acoustic Gtr, Keyboards, Production

Is it possible to love a tuner? Yes. My previous Boss Tuner lasted through endless rehearsal hours and many gigs. And I liked that tuner: reliable, solid, and made tuning quick and easy. Time to upgrade finally and there are a lot of options. The Waza TU-3W costs more, but is totally worth it, and since you will have it for years, it's a smart investment. It looks great on the board, the colors are super easy to track while tuning, it handles various guitars and basses with ease, and the buffered/true bypass option is fantastic - it's been educational flipping that switch and seeing the end result on different pedalboard/amp signal runs (best setting is situation dependent). I love this tuner! For the one item that is likely to be first in your pedal chain, that you are going to use every rehearsal and every gig, get yourself one of these and be happy!

Great Tuner for Bass

By Sweetwater Customer

Liked the black finish and the ability to turn buffer on and off. Actually using the buffer has helped my signal with the boost and I don't have a big board but it made a difference. And it is very fast to lock in on my bass. Awesome piece!

really wonderful tuner for 5 string bass

By haven from Iowa City
Music Background: Funk/Soul/Gospel

As a 5 string bass player, finding a great tuner with all the features you want, and one that can really handle that low b string, or an acoustic double bass, is hard. this tuner is absolutely fantastic. its the first thing on my pedalboard. I love that I can choose between leaving it on all the time, or using it as a kill switch; that is a nice feature to be a able to choose between! The buffer is great too, since I run a long cable. But I appreciate that you can turn it off if you happen to run a short one, or use different types of pedals, or have other buffered pedals. Its built like a tank, and whether it is on or off, in bypass or kill, buffered or not, it has zero negative effect on on tone! no hiss, no hum, and nothing ever changes when you put in in your signal chain. Sure, this is a lot to say about something like a tuner, but for a bass player to have something this nice is a treat. Oh, works great for my guitar too!

Excellent

By JD M. from Ostrander, OH
Music Background: Bass Player - Monarchs to Oblivion

This tuner is amazing. It handles the tuning on my 5-string bass guitar better than anything else I've used to date (TU-2, TC PolyTune, Pitchblack etc). The new music my band is writing is in Drop A# and the Waza TU-3 does not struggle at all to dial it up right. Very happy with this purchase.

Amazing

By Jacob from Meridian, MS
Music Background: 10+ years Worship Musician

I've tried the PolyTune, but it has trouble picking up some notes(low b string on bass, and struggles to pick up acoustic in live situations). I switched to the Boss TU-2, and I thought I had found the best tuner. I've always been curious of the Waza Craft difference. This tuner is simply amazing. It is the fastest tuner I've ever seen. It picks up the actual note and not the harmonics of other notes. Thanks to Chris for always helping me out!

Okay but not worth the price.

By Tim H. from Austin, Texas

It's not a bad tuner pedal. It's ruggedly built and is indeed quite a workhorse. The addition of true bypass option is a nice improvement over the original TU-3W. But at this price range, this pedal ain't worth it.

Solid tuner, great display.

By Sweetwater Customer from Marietta, GA

Solid tuner, great display. It looks cool and has a great response time. Wish I didn't have to bend over to change the tuning mode for the price. I've been using a Korg GA30 tuner for a long time. Not having to disconnect the effects/guitar to tune is a great advantage.

Worth it

By Sweetwater Customer

The usual Boss tuner is pretty good and very stable. This is a cut above. Tunes in quick, even on a low B. I has a nice display. The buffer or true bypass option is a nice feature. Nicely executed.

May 21, 2018

Worth the extra cost.

By Sweetwater Customer from Indiana

This tuner is worth the extra cost as compared to the non-Waza version or other comparable tuners simply because of the high quality buffer that is included. I'm a fan of utilizing a buffer in your signal chain, and this keeps one less pedal off of your board and you get a two for one. In addition, the pedal looks great and is very reliable.

Boss TU-3W Waza Craft Chromatic Tuner with Bypass

By Paul M. from Florida
Music Background: playing guitar forever it seems

Great Tuner, and colors that even a darkened stage won't matter. It's super accurate and worth the few

extra dollars it cost over the TU-3. I believe Boss makes the best stomp box type tuners available.

I have used my original TU-2 for over 30 years now, but it started bleeding through when engaged. I can't say it doesn't still tune correctly but it's time for a new one.

The New Sweetwater TU--3 WC does it all, and you can not find a better company to purchase all your

musical needs. My sales rep. is Evan Neiman, extremely knowledgeable, always happy to help answer

any and all questions., Evan has been my sales rep.for quite some time and is always right on the money

with the correct advice for his customers.

Power

By Sweetwater Customer

This product is almost completely worthless without the optional power adapter ($ extra). I've only had this for 1 week and have gone through 3 brand new 9V batteries, despite using the tuner only occasionally. After the first two batteries died, I unplugged everything after each use. The battery lasted a little longer than the first 2, but obviously not very long at all. At this rate, I'd have to buy a new 9V battery AT LEAST every week. Pretty shocking from a tuner that costs this much.

Fast, Bright, Accurate.

By John
Music Background: Gigging musician

Really like this tuner. Yes, they're all pretty utilitarian and just have to work, but I appreciate when a tuner is fast rather than taking a bit longer to register. This is as fast as I've used. It's also very bright and is easily visible in brighter rooms and outdoors. The switchable buffer/true bypass is also a nice touch and helps demonstrate the tonal differences between having a buffer vs. not. Everything you need, and nothing you won't use - no extra features to muddy the waters. Think I'll have this one for a long time.

Did Everything I Expected

By Scott
Music Background: Bassist 16 years

I have been putting together a new pedal board and was looking at various buffers and tuners and decided I would really like to save space and combine the two functions into one pedal.

I have had a tu-2 for many years and while there are better tuners available, the tu2 has been reliable and never failed in 16 years of use, so I decided to give the TU3W a look. The features I liked were the buffer/bypass option. I am a bassist who uses active and passive basses so this feature was a major plus, as I do not use a bypass loop as of yet.

As I was hoping the buffered bypass on this pedal is of much higher quality than the TU2. The TU2 functioned adequately but the buffer in the TU3W's buffer is more transparent and a bit stronger. And the final reason for the great rating is it is a better tuner, more accurate than the TU2. I only deducted half a star for value, the pedal is a little expensive, I think 20 to 25 dollars more than the standard TU3 would be the pricing sweet spot for this pedal but overall for my needs I am very pleased with this pedal.

A tuner is a tuner.

By Bear from NJ

Look I can write about how good this tunes but it's the same story it's good. It's better than the pitchblack it's a pair with the polytune 2. For guitar any tuner is good but for bass it's difficult boss is the only tuner that always gets it spot on which is the reason I have been using them for years since the tu-2 came out it always was the best and lasted the longest of all. My review about this tuner is simple the fact that it has a high grade buffer in it is a money saver on other buffers out the I can agree the buffer on the tu-3 isn't that good but this one really is and hey don't like buffer pedals well it has a true bypass on it also which I use when recording and it comes in handy. If your in need for a tuner do yourself a favor get this.
