Great Practice Snare Drum Pad!

Evans hit a home run with the dB One Low Volume Snare Drumhead.

On the top of the head is the heavy duty mesh playing surface. On the underside of the head is a drumhead with horizontal slots cut out of it. When the head is struck you hear a low volume buzz similar to that of snare wires (you will need to remove the snare wire from your snare drum so you don't get conflicting buzz sounds).

I just ordered the dB One bass drumhead. I will post a review on that when it arrives.

Ingenuity

This mesh snare head is surprisingly muffled but sounds like my snare's on - I really like it! So does my family

Works really well

I've been using the rubber pads for a long time, they shred in the center, they buckle, they slide off the snare. They don't feel particularly good to practice on, but at least they're quiet. These mesh heads are a huge upgrade. They are quiet, have great rebound (though a little bouncier than a regular head), and the snare head in particular sounds like a snare and retains some of the natural sound of the drum. The only thing I'm not sure about is durability, I've only been using it a week. I would think an impact dot in the center would go a long way; I may add one on my own.

Will be great for some, but not all...

If you are looking for the quietest option for practicing this ain't it! The snare effect is nice and adds some of the snare sound, at the cost of your lower volume.

That won't be a problem for some drummers. But, in my case, I need to cut every decibel possible and it is not advantageous for me to have the snare effect. A simple tom head would have suited me better.

This is a great head. The issues I mentioned are not quality or design issues. Just want people to know that the tom head may be the better fit in some circumstances

snare snare

a little loud for being a "quiet" item.
