Surprisingly Good

By Thomas H. from San Diego, CA

I like to use a pair of speaker pops (PA speakers on sticks) to check my mixes.

While not studio quality bigs (> $), speaker pops can give you an indication of how your mix is going to translate to a club system, or a DJ running on a budget.

First off, they're light. I was worried that I'd need to have a friend come over to help me hoist them onto the sticks. When I finally got around to it, there was no issue.

Second, the frequency response is pretty flat. I normally run these monitors through my Trinov to make sure they're compensated for the room. When I looked at the response curves and compensation applied, there wasn't much more there than what I would expect for room bass compensation.

I only tested them with EQ off and ignored all the 'advanced' settings.

A couple minor nits, switch quality (slider switches for line/mic level) and gain staging, I had to crank them all the way up and it doesn't look like anything else is repeatable.

Overall though, these work fine for my use case.

Got my 2nd pair!

By Bruce C. from Abilene, Texas
Music Background: 40 plus years in rock bands.

As I stated in a previous review, I couldn't wait to get a 2nd pair. Got em and now the front end of our PA has enough clarity, versatility, and punch to play just about any venue around. We have watched numerous others spend a lot more to get what we have achieved for far less. Alto speakers are a well designed, versatile, powerful, lightweight option for working class musicians. Rockin' gigs in Texas with Alto's! Thank you to Tyler and all the great customer service reps. at Sweetwater (for life)!

Serious Working Musicians Real Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By George from Louisville, Ky.
Music Background: Keyboards, Guitar, Drums, Bass, Sound and Studio Engineer, Tour Musician, Local, National, and International

I bought and used these for the first time for a park job after viewing tons of reviews. My band is mostly a 3-4pc high energy R&B, Old School Funk and Neo Soul unit with a killer strong singer, very dynamic drummer and me on phat layered keyboards and thunder key basslines(maybe sax or bass player sometimes too).

Everyone in attendance were really happy with our sound clarity over the other bands this month with much bigger equipment. Believe it or not, I had to turn my pair of yorkville dual 210 es700p real 700watt subs halfway down for these speakers to cut through the mix (maybe I just need to tweak a little more). Are these a true 1250RMS? I'm not feeling that really. Maybe about 800RMS total. I didn't take time to do a db meter this time.

I was pushing my limit on a couple of songs with one pair for park gig for my live band (of course). However, they got the job done nicely and people were happy with our sound.

Overall, I was also happy and will buy another pair and dual speaker mounts for outdoor gigs in the future. I'm sure one set with good sub(s) will cover any club or Big Event Hall indoors up to 300-400 people adequately if my first test worked in a park!

Lastly, my opinion is killer for DJ stand alone system and better with a sub. For outdoors High Energy Bands buy 2 pair of these tops and 2 subs @ real 700-1200RMS (6 speakers total for house). That still beats the cost of the Top brand stuff by half the price.

I'll be back soon for my second pair of these very soon, hopefully before the price goes up, goes on permanent back-order or they stop making them like some other companies! :-)

Professional Series and Professional Sound

By Diego A. from Jersey
Music Background: Pro Audio Engineer, Semipro Guitarist, Amateur DJ for friends and family parties and your moms favorite; give her a hug for me

Serious sleepers for Smaller and Mid size gigs. I work with bands that run RCAs, Yamahas and QSCs and these tone wise can keep up. Loud enough for some medium outdoor shows and dancefloors. The weight isn't too bad considering the power and size of the speakers.

Sounds great, power turns off randomly

By Todd C.

Yup , I've used them with the low line in setting at moderate levels for 6 or 7 acoustic gigs.
They Sound Great. 1 of them started turning off by itself as we were playing , the light would go out and it shuts off .
I even switched the speaker with the other side and the problem follows the 1 speaker. Sometimes when I switch it on it doesn't come on. They have been babied and are like new. Not sure what I'm going to do now, they are 2 years old. Sweetwater is always awesome regardless.

Awesome

By Robert D. from Bellevue, NE
Music Background: Professional Musician

Playing Bass, Guitar, and Electronic Drums through this 15" speaker. Don't really need a subwoofer but I will probably buy a couple of the 8" or 10" version, a mixer, and subwoofer for an inexpensive killer PA system. Very impressed.

ALTO TS415 TRUESONIC 4 Series- Extremely Happy With Purchase

By Victor C. from Killeen, TX
Music Background: DJ and Music Industry since 1982

I owned 2 TS415 (15in tops), 2 TS318S (18in Subs), 2 TS315S (15in Subs) for over 2 yrs now, I mostly do outdoor events and put them on together and believe me when I tell you These are amazing. Crystal clear and deep enough bass. I sincerely trust and recommend this to anyone. I will not compare them to RCf or any other prestige and expensive brand but they honestly sound good.

Glad Robby Suggested These!!!

By Sweetwater Customer from Coachella, CA

I was having my doubts in pulling the trigger on these but glad I did! I was not expecting too much given the price but I was looking to getting my dad some new speakers to replace his old Peaveys from the 80s/90s. These things hit! He mainly uses them for karaoke but also has them set up to his TV in his shop and also connects via bluetooth to his phone. They are fairly smaller than your usual 15-inch speakers but pack a punch. I'd recommend these for the price.

That darn little switch

By Sweetwater Customer

I purchased the demo from SW. I set it up Saturday evening as a monitor/drummer side fill and cranked it to full and I was not impressed. Not loud at all, nowhere near 1250watts. I woke up the next morning and tried it again but this time I realized I had it switched to line and I had a XLR connection. LOL dumb, I just needed a good nights sleep.
Flicked the switch and WHAMMO! The cabinet is loud and pretty clean but can be a little shrill depending on the music (source iPhone/YouTube), nothing eq can't fix.
$ , 1250watts, 15in...you can't beat that. Overall a great cabinet!

Awesome speaker indoor/outdoor medium to large events for sure!!!

By Sweetwater Customer

Great for indoor/outdoor medium to large events!!! I hosted our first ever "friends and family day" and the neighbors across street on the other side of the RR tracks asked my niece what are we having way over there! She told me that those folks were actually dancing to the music while I was DJing!!!

Outstanding speaker for the price, great for "FRFR" guitar/bass usage

By Connor K. from Wyoming
Music Background: School/local musician (guitar, bass, tech)

The 2500 watt rating is obviously a peak pulse rating for both drivers. The speaker has a 1250 watt RMS rating, which is 800 watts power thru the low driver and 450 watts power thru the high driver, all of class D power. This is all stated, so don't expect to only need a single speaker to fill up a huge venue. It can stil fill a huge space with plenty of rumble. While I haven't used this in any live scenario yet, I can say it definitely gets loud enough to live up to that. When used with a guitar or bass modeler, it keeps up with my 100-watt half stack super well, with more potential than what I would use. There isn't anything more than that which I need, or really that you could ask for at this price. The bluetooth is nice once you turn the pairing voice line off.

Decent at its price point

By Kerry from Whittier
Music Background: Pro

This ts415 is definitely a budget powered speaker. It'll get the job done most of the time without hesitation. Great clean response and usually enough power. My two complaints are the 2500 watts seems exaggerated. It's not enough volume for a room of 50 people audience. Also the Bluetooth connection is slow, inconsistent and often scares the crap outta me with a blasting "blue tooth connected".
