First off, shout out to Jacob! Always a pleasant experience, quick communication, always making sure it's just right.
Now for the bass...
This thing sounds phenomenal! I will admit that my experience with basses is limited, but I'm digging this bass. The neck is smooth and feels right in the hands, the sound is so customizable! I can literally hit every genre I want. I run hartke amps and cabinets, so I can't speak to what it may sound like with other cabs, but I'm VERY gait with this purchase. Thanks!
Yamaha TRBX605FM
My first 5 string bass guitar, and I waited a little over 2 months for it, I can tell you, it was worth the wait, and I'm not disappointed on this purchase.Being a 5 string I expected that the neck wound be a wide neck, but it had a very shapely and with great action, movement on the TRBX605FM so lovable sleek and light weight. Still getting used to the extra low B string but I'm certainly a great joy to play and have the action of ease while playing it around the house, can't wait to start playing it in church. I'll tell you what, don't take my word on what I've told you, buy one for yourself, it is worth the wait. Thanks Sweetwater, it a great instrument.

Great has been upgraded to Awesome!
I have owned the previous version of this bass. Many have stated that the sound can be a little bland at times but with this new version, Alder/Flame maple top, it absolutely sings! The tone is very different though many people will denounce tonewoods but I am super satisfied with this purchase and look forward to many years of playing this bass!
Oportunity to play one
One of these where donated to the church,
And I had a he oportunity to play this instrument in a performance situation, the playability of this instrument right out of the case, was exceptional. In both active eq and passive the boost and cut features delivered a wide range of tonal choices between neck and bridge pickups and in a blended setting. The action was smooth and the overall sounds of this instrument was punchy, with clarity and sonically bone shaking. In the lower extended register. From mild to wild. I would love own one for myself hint hint lol. I sincerely hope the younger musicians appreciate playing it as much as I did.
Super bass for the dollar!
I was using a Yamaha TRBX305 as a practice bass for a few years and I loved it. When the TRBX605FM came out, I just had to have one. As usual, Yamaha great quality! The active/passive switch keeps you playing if the battery dies on you , plus it ads more tones to your pallet. The only thing I don't like is the low B is a little murky for my tastes, but I use heavy strings. Maybe lighter strings would cure that. Just MY opinion anyway. I love the bass and it has found a home for many years to come....unless they come out with a TRBX705...LOL. Get one, you will love it too!
Great value in a bass!
I've played bass for almost 30 years, and haven't bought an "off the shelf" bass in at least 20. I wanted to get a replacement practice bass without spending an arm and a leg on another custom build.
I am impressed by how many features are packed into this bass at this price point. First off the finish is a badass deep red over a framed maple top. It has a 5-piece, satin finished neck that, thus far, is extremely stable. I like the high mass bridge and the silky smooth tuners. However, I love the passive\active switch... So handy. Very solid electronics and preamp... Love the battery indicator. Overall a very punchy and good (but not great) sound... but certainly pulls its weight sonically for a bass in this price range. A really great value, has features that you would typically have to spend twice as much to get.
My only complaint is the lack of headroom in the onboard preamp. I generally like to keep my pickups raised high, but with the bass set up like this, the low B string clips and distorts unless the bass volume knob is turned down to about 40%. I wound up having to lower the pips by several millimeters to lower the signal and keep it from clipping coming out of the bass at full volume.
Overall, even though it took a bit of extra time to set up, and I had to adjust the pickups to a much lower height than I like, I'm still very happy with the bass. Very high quality bass for the price, I would not hesitate to play a gig with it. Does it sound as good as a Musicman? No... but it is 1/4 the price! It sounds great--as good or better--as any other bass I've played in this price range.
Impressive Yamaha Bass!!
After months of checking out the various sales happening at Sweetwater I decide the time was about right to get another bass. After checking, purchasing one bass, and then return it (due to some cosmetic issues), I opted to go for this Yamaha TRBX605M, and I am so happy that I did. For the price point these instruments are offered the build quality, the features, and the bass' tone are just amazing. It was nice to be able to run my hand up and down the neck and not feel any sharp fret ends or play notes in some of typical spots not have dead notes for a change. I also love finally owning a bass with an active/passive bypass switch and that both tones sound really good (I've recorded with it and used both tones for different songs with great results). The bass is also not a shoulder-killer. It was very comfortable to where and feels very natural against the body. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the setup. I just expect basses in this price range to need extra work when I buy them (I consider a part of the purchase when I get a new bass), and this bass just needed some "extra love". With a standard setup (neck adjustments, bridge action, intonation, ect.) it was definitely playable, but then I decided that in order for it to play even better it really needed a fret-levling and recrown to get rid of all the little fret buzzes and get even better action. Unfortunately the Sweetwater 55-point inspection doesn't cover that part. That's okay, though, because I expected to have to do this (very rarely will you find a bass in this price range that doesn't need a good thorough setup). After all this, the bass is PERFECT to me. So, buy with confidence and just understand that you will need to have your bass setup by a professional to make it just right.
