I absolutely love my tonex plug, except the battery. The tone and feel are incredible. By far the best headphone amp ever made, again with one huge exception. My unit is only a couple of months old and the battery at full charge only last for about a half hour before it completely dies. It's extremely frustrating. As a parent of a year and a half old son and professional guitarist I need to be very efficient with my practice time. Hard to do when i can only get 20 minutes of my hour long window.

I love the sounds and practicality of using the Tonex Plug, but I have had it for 2 months, and the headphone jack is defective. I would expect something that costs 150.00 to be more reliable than 2 months of use. Super disappointed in the manufacturing. It is not made well at all.

I travel a lot and needed a good travel amp. Well this hits the spot. Very small but gives me big amp sound and with Tonex web site. An almost unlimited sound bank. Don't get me wrong, it comes loaded with a bunch of tones that are fully customizable in the app. I use Amplitude and ToneX on my PC so I am very familiar with the software. Fully customizable. Not overly complicated. It fits all my guitars with no issues. I have Jacksons, ESP's, Schecters and PRS's.

As for other users giving this a low rating simply because it does not fit their guitar, that is just short sighted. The actual product is awesome.

For context I own the two Fender Micros and the Boss Katana Go. All are good at what they do but the Tonex Plug is another class above the modeling amps for those devices. Tonex mobile software is the best incarnation of their offerings and it makes it easy to basically select any kind of sound you'd want. The Fidelity is a grade higher than what I've experienced with the others. You have more than enough slots/banks for presets as well. It's absolutely the best one on the market.

I ordered this as I needed an excellent headphone amp so I could play while the wife is in the house. I found out that it is that - and much more. The Plug can be used with high quality headphones to give a great sound. However, it won't stream audio out to buds but will stream audio in from any Bluetooth music source - and this is superb. Practicing jamming along to any source ie Spotify works very well and its a huge plus.

The Tonex 'ecosystem' can be quite daunting as when you register this product with IK it starts downloading all sorts of apps. The good news is that to find and load presets into the Plug then play it all you need is the Tonex Control app for mobile phones - that's a must. In addition, using the Tonex app on desktop to find tone models on ToneNET was pretty easy, and so is turning them into presets that can be loaded into the Plug using the Tonex Editor app (desktop). You can ignore Amplitude and all that complexity unless you want to use the Plug as a recording interface.

I have had the Tonex Plug for a short while now and I can share the "Goods" and the "Bads" that I have found with this wonderful device.
First off the good. The sounds I am getting out of this little device are nothing short of spectacular. I am very impressed by how well my volume knob on my guitar responds with this device. Using VST plugins on my PC for years now I find that the small changes in sound you get with your volume knob don't work as well as if you are plugged into an amp. This Tonex plug responds exactly like an amp. That is a HUGH plus for me. I can set the volume at a medium level and play chords or licks and it sounds great, but I can really "hit the amp" by turning the guitar up. Quite better experience than VST plug ins in my experience. This works really well with "dirty" blues sounds where I clean up nicely at lower volumes but can still go into ROAR mode just by cranking the guitar's volume up. LOVE THIS.
Playing backing tracks via YouTube or Spotify work well and the mix sounds great in the headphones. I went direct into an AUX in on my studio monitors and it sounds really good as well that way.
The bad. I had to pick up a short female to male patch cable as the Tonex Plug would not fit my late 90's Ibanez JC1000 without falling out. It only BARELY fits and if I even touch the device it comes unplugged. I expected this as I also have a Fender Mustang Micro headphone amp with the same issue with this guitar, so I actually had the cable in my hands before the Tonex Plug. This is not a deal breaker for me. Just be aware that your guitar may or may not have this issue.
The Tonex Plug Android app is only OK for me. I am tired of fussing with computers and apps when it's time to play guitar so I really like that once I go through the setup process and get a bunch of amps loaded to this device, I really don't need to mess around with the app too much. On my Laptop the Tonex app is not very good at all, and there is a bit of a learning curve. Keep that in mind if you just like to plug and play.
The pre loaded sounds are amazing on this device and I got a Sweetwater Pack that I am just exploring now, but it seems to have a bunch of cool sounds as well.
Overall I HIGHLY recommend the Tonex Plug. Just know there is a little learning curve with the software side of the device.

I could write an essay on all that is broken between ToneNet, ToneX Edit, and ToneX Control iOS app. Suffice it to say, almost nothing talks to each other correctly. There's no way to get any existing presets onto the ToneX Plug without twisting yourself into a pretzel. You can't be connected to ToneX Edit and ToneX Control apps at the same time so you have to constantly unplug and replug and disconnect and reconnect across software to transfer presets. The "Mobile Device" unlimited storage that's advertised is strange since there's no way to get any preset into that unlimited storage. You can only create a preset in the ToneX Control app and then save that preset to the "Mobile Device" portion of the ToneX Control App. Have hundreds of presets already? Would you like to get them into the app so you can play any preset in the ToneX Control app? Well you can't. not yet at least. Hopefully a ToneX Control app update fixes this since there's currently no way via ToneNet, ToneX Editor, or any other way to get a preset into the "Mobile Device" storage of the ToneX Control App.

does it sound great? no... mine has an audible clicking noise that you can hear in the left channel and that clicking noise is persisted to the track when recording via USB-C using the ToneX plug as an interface. i assume i just have a faulty launch day plug and that'll be fixed with a replacement. but... wow... this thing.... the YouTube talking heads really glossed over the user experience in their launch reviews.

Does it sound great when it isn't clicking in your left ear... yes... yes it does. so there's that.

It's sounds really good, but like the above post says it wont fit some of my guitars with a recessed input jack. Plus I need to contact IK the app wont let me connect to Tone Net.

So the Tonex Plug sounds great, several of the onboard presets are incredible. However I found that the Tonex Plug will not fully insert into a Telecaster. The jack on my Telecasters is recessed and when inserting the Tonex Plug, its body hits the edge of the Telecaster body before it is fully inserted, locked into the Telecaster Jack. Uh oh....
