Ibanez TOD10 Tim Henson Signature Electric Guitar - Classic Silver Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Basswood Body, Maple Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 2 Active Humbucking Pickups, and Gotoh T1502 Tremolo - Classic Silver

Polyphia's Tim Henson has wowed audiences with his idiosyncratic style of technical shredding since the band's earliest independently released EPs dropped in the early 2010s. Fittingly, the Ibanez TOD10 Tim Henson Signature is a high-performance solidbody electric guitar with custom tweaks and appointments tailor-made for fleet-fingered fretboard gymnastics. The TOD10 is built around an American basswood body, which exhibits a warm, growling acoustic tone with hyper-defined mids. A set of Tim's signature multi-voice Fishman Fluence humbuckers yield a plethora of tones from squeaky cleans to high-octane grind. The TOD10's roasted maple neck boasts Ibanez's comfortable AZ Oval "C" shape, and its 24-fret, 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard was designed to accommodate the most demanding of hand maneuvers. You also get a Gotoh T1502 tremolo for bending, twisting, and diving with spot-on intonation. The TOD10 Tim Henson Signature is rounded out with a Graph Tech nut, Gotoh locking tuners, illuminated side markers, and an eye-grabbing "Tree of Death" fingerboard inlay.

TOD10 for the win

By Hiro from Miami on January 3, 2024 Music Background: BM in music , lead guitarist in Adele and Harmony local band.

I was worried about ordering this guitar due to all the quality control issues but I took the chance. I had several to choose from and went with the one I got due to the amazing neck wood pattern on mine . The guitar came in one day earlier than expected and I was so happy about that . I checked over the guitar and found very few flaws and minor stuff like a black speck but other than that it was perfect . The guitar came in perfect setup and no buzzes at all. The guitar is really comfortable to play, light I chose 6 pounds 14 oz . The picks ups are incredible sounding through my evh 100 watt amp out of the many amps I own. I own several suhr moderns and this guitar might not have the craftsmanship and attention to detail as those guitars but man this guitar plays really great and I can't wait to get a pro setup! I want to give a shout out to my sweetwater engineer for shipping this out so quickly in time for the holidays! Thanks Alex McKinney and for sending the photos of the guitar. If you like polyphia or Tim Henson .. you can't go wrong with this beauty .

Great guitar

By Jon Anglin from Plymouth, IN on October 24, 2023

This is a fun guitar. I had to wait 8 months for this guitar to come in. I have several guitars, so I was looking for something different. I was not looking for traditional tones. In that regard, this guitar does not disappoint. The Fishman Fluence pickups give you a lot of tonal options. The cleans are just fantastic! It can also scream of course. As I said non-traditional tones. I have plenty of other guitars to give me those tones. I was pleasantly surprised by the neck profile. I was assuming it was going to be extremely thin, but it is not. Of course, this data was on the Ibanez web site, I just didn't realize it as it was in mm. It's a very comfortable neck, 0.807 inches @ 1st fret. 0.886 inches @ 12th fret. Even if you're not a fan of Tim Henson or Polyphia, this is a fantastically spec'd AZ model with Ebony fretboard. I think Ibanez was not expecting the demand for this guitar. Due to that, they are making them fast, trying to keep up. This is affecting the QC a bit. Mine was dirty, and covered in buffing compound. I just had to clean it up a bit and it was fine. No scratches or damage. The gig bag is OK for storing at home or carrying on your shoulder to a gig or practice. If I were going to gig this guitar and load it into a truck or van, I would not use the gig bag provided.

Amazing Guitar!

By Austin on August 23, 2023

I've been waiting a while for this guitar since pre-ordering, and it was well worth it! It plays & looks amazing, was set up great right when I received it, and most importantly has that Polyphia style sound. It pairs well with Neural DSP Archetype Tim Henson as expected, and I can't stop playing it!

Sweetwater customer service was also great at keeping me up to date with the pre-order status and helping with shipping accommodations. Highly recommend!

Overall good and very beautiful

By Sweetwater Customer on January 12, 2024

It has some issues with the finish and mine came with some white residue around the jack and some of the hardware. The gig bag is also pretty meh. I won't be using it to transport it.

Other than that the guitar is beautiful and plays great. Sounds pretty good but honestly, the vast amount of voicings available are kind of overwhelming (5-way pick-up switch + push/pull knob = 10 voicings) and don't seem that much different from one another. I would've preferred if it was a 3-way switch.

I think it's pretty good for the price.

Almost Perfect

By Dave Morrow on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Have played drums, bass, and guitar for around 9 years. Helped my dad run a small live sound business as well as recording studio for about 6 years until Covid-19 happened.

This guitar is absolutely beautiful, and after it's set up it plays good and the signature pickups sound great. However it seems as if the quality control on these is really being overlooked. Mine arrived with a nick in the neck, scuffed paint (which does not show well on pictures), and some what seem like deformations on the edge of the fretboard higher up on the neck. Its all pretty easy to not notice had you not looked close enough.
