Fender Tone Master FR-10 1,000-watt 1 x 10-inch Powered Speaker Cabinet - Black
Fender Tone Master FR-10 1,000-watt 1 x 10-inch Powered Speaker Cabinet - Black Reviews
With its extensive range, flat response, and mighty 1,000-watt onboard power amp, Fender’s Tone Master FR-10 powered guitar cab transforms any digital modeling unit into a gig-ready powerhouse rig. Naturally, the Tone Master FR-10 is a perfect choice to pair with Fender’s Tone Master Pro modeler. However, this cab’s full-range, flat-response speaker setup, comprising a 10-inch driver and a 1-inch wide dispersion high-frequency driver, serves as a blank sonic canvas for a variety of profilers and modelers. Volume is all but an afterthought, thanks to the FR-10’s onboard 1,000-watt power amplifier, and you also get a top-mounted control section with handy Volume and EQ controls. Finally, Sweetwater guitarists can’t help but appreciate how the FR-10’s lightweight black-Tolex plywood enclosure and metal tilt-back legs capture all the vibe and visuals of a traditional Fender amplifier. This brilliant merger of aesthetics and functionality allows you to capture all the best of modern modeling technology with the timeless aesthetics of Fender’s most iconic amplifiers.
Perfect Match to the Tone Master Pro (or any other modeler)
I am thrilled with this amp, which is a perfect complement to the Tone Master Pro. My goto model is the Fender Deluxe Reverb Blonde, and it sounds wonderful through the FR-10. I highly recommend this as your output device for any modeler.
Light, Loud, and Clear
I bought this amp for pairing with my Line 6 Helix Stomp, and in that capacity it performs very well. The Stomp sits nicely on top of the FR-10. The FR-10 weighs about 26 pounds, making it about 10 pounds lighter than the Peavey KB-2 keyboard amp that I used previously for this purpose, and 6 pounds lighter than the Fender Mustang III v.2 that I use for blues shows. It is very loud, and very clear--what you put into it is exactly what you get out of it, only louder (though you can use the three-band EQ to shape the signal further if you like). There is an XLR output on the back panel for taking the signal to a PA, so if it's not loud enough by itself, or you want to record, you can plug it into something even louder.
I bought the FR-10 with a Positive Grid CAB for comparison. The CAB was just about as loud; that's as close as I can get, because Fender claims the FR-10 has 1000 watts output while Positive Grid, clearly using a different scale, rates the CAB at 140 watts. Anyway, they both sounded loud to me. But the CAB had a pronounced bass emphasis, and no EQ controls to deal with it in real time, which in my opinion is not tops. On price, the CAB wins big with a price about $ less than the FR-10. But what does that matter if it doesn't give you the actual sound of the gear? The FR-10 is tops in this price range.

Simple, easy to use, reliable, and convenient
As a gigging musician I appreciate how simple, easy to use, reliable, and convenient this FRFR cab is.
Works better than floor wedge monitors, and the onboard EQ is a nice touch. Can't tell you how often my sound changes from room to room and how frustrating it gets when it sounds too woofy or shrill/trebly when I haven't changed anything in my modeler or global settings. This is super easy to fix in seconds, and it doesn't affect the signal sent to FOH.
Super lightweight. Modeler and FRFR cab imo beat the old days of lugging around a heavy tube amp and pedalboard.
I don't think there is a better FRFR cab under $. And I would put this above some other FRFR cabs between the $ range.
If you're a gigging musician and you're curious about this… Just get it or thank me later. Or the FR-12. But the size and weight of the FR-10 are great.

Had such high hopes, so excited to receive and try out, looking forward to 1000 watts of clean unaltered Fender goodness. But wow, in a quiet rehearsal room the first thing you notice after turning it on and setting all knobs at high noon is the BUZZZZZZ coming out of this amp. With guitar cable plugged in, or not plugged in and just sitting on, I was floored at what Fender apparently considers acceptable hummmm level. It would not work at all for clean ambient recording. Boxed it back up and returned it, my old 1980's Fender M80 has less buzz even when cranked. Hopefully a Version II (if/when) will address noise issues. Until then staying with Roland SS amps for big clean.
all good
pairs fantastic with my helix floor
Best Home Tone Solution!
A great FRFR!!!
The Fender Tonemaster FRFRs produce the most convincing 'amp-in-the-room' sound/feel from my Helix of any others I've used. And it's not even close! - Highly recommend!!!
All the features I wanted!
An FRFR disguised as an amp. With the ability to easily adjust volume and eq to match the stage without messing with the front of house signal. Tilt back legs to aim up at you without a need for an amp stand. Ship your signal to front of house right from the amp.
Well done Fender! Thoughtful and beautifully executed. My modeler setup is complete. And no one knows it's not an amp!
Dead Quiet Sounds Great
I like everything about this amp. Sounds great, quiet, easy to use, looks good too.
Missing Link for Modeler Use
In my opinion, this is the key piece needed for today's fantastic modeling technology. It is priced right, simple, beautiful, well-built, and sounds great. If you've been convinced that you need a "real amp" to be happy, give this a try.
Amazing! For both guitar and bass use.
Love this little map so much, keeps up in my band and I use it in tandem with my Quad Cortex. Sounds so good with both guitar and bass. a definite recommend.
Awesome piece of gear!
I own a Line 6 Powercab 112 and a Headrush 12" FRFR and was never quite pleased with how they reproduced the sound of my Helix. The Powercab always sounded thin and fizzy and the Headrush always sounded like the mids were scooped even with the switch set to flat. The Tone Master delivers on all fronts. It just plain sounds fantastic. It really has that "amp in the room" feeling. I waffled on buying the 10" vs the 12" and I am glad I went with the 10". Played a gig last week and it performed fantastic in a venue that seats about 200. Plenty of volume with room to get even louder and super light. Fender really knocked it out of the park with this bad boy!
Feels like an amp
The "hiss" issue is not an issue in my opinion. The thing sounds great. Great low end. Feels like an amp. Paired with the TMP this thing slaps
Yep!
Awsome haircut too! A+++ Job Mike

Couldn't Be Better
I've had mine going on 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. I'm running a Tone Master Pro through mine and how this speaker reproduces the character of those iconic Fender amps is simply amazing. I ran my Strymon Iridium through it and that sounded great, as well. I'm an old tube amp guy blown away with where we're at with this technology. I've seen comments on YouTube, etc. referencing a hiss and I have no idea what they're talking about. Mine sounds amazing!
Fender FR10
I play my guitars through a Line 6 Pod Go. Usually I go directly into the board and have the sound guy put my guitar through the monitors. The tone sounds great. After a while I began experiencing the rest of the band turning up their volume as the night went on making it difficult for me to hear my guitar. I purchased the FR10 to allow me the opportunity to increase my guitar volume when necessary. It works great. I have never had to turn the volume beyond 50%. I have used my Tone Master Twin as well as floor monitors and the FR10 Sounds better than anything I have played through.
Companion for HX Stomp
I'm using this with my hx stomp and it works perfect for having a consistent sound between home and a front of house situation.
This is the best FRFR I’ve used anywhere near the price range
This has only been released for about 11 days at the time of review, so I can't speak on longevity or reliability yet. I have currently used this for a bit over a week upon delivery, at home, and 2 band practices. I am a helix user, and have been greatly enjoying this FRFR powered cabinet. It ticks all the boxes for me, very portable, lightweight, powered, loud enough for practice/gigs, sounds neutral as it should, and able to lightly tailor EQ to suit room/volume, without altering my helix presets, or what FOH gets. I will likely purchase a second one within a couple months.
