Endless Possibilities
This amp is the absolute best little amp out there! I just wish it had a foot switch.
Love the amp, hate the company
This little amp is a real workhorse and can be used virtually anywhere. Just charge the battery and you're good to go. One word of caution: Yamaha has terrible customer service. Their website is glitchy and there is no one to call because they don't publish a phone number. It took me a month to register my purchase and that was only after I created a new email account because they kept saying I already had an email account registered, but wouldn't let me access my account. It is by far the worst customer service experience of my 60 plus years of life. It will really give me pause when considering future purchases.
Poor Value
First, for this price point Yamaha should have included an effects loop and the power plug should go directly to the unit, and instead they provide a wall wart DC adapter that nobody likes to have to worry about losing and being forced to take with wherever one goes with this "portable" unit.
Second, while the distortion is decent for a digital/modeling amp, it is simply not in the category of overall sound quality to command this price.
Third, this doesn't even work well as a Bluetooth speaker, as it sounds thin and weak compared to something like the Marshall Stockwell or similar, which sounds far better to my ears.
All of that said, it is handy to have when and where a real amp can't be used. Just don't expect much in terms of sound.
One last point to realize is that this is a temporary device: people will not often go through the hassle of replacing the batteries when it no longer holds a charge, which also implies that this is going to be a disposable product that will not serve the environment any favors. Manufacturers and lawmakers should standardize modular batteries, like 18650 or similar (not holding my breath for that of course, but I felt it worth noting, and I didn't consider this when making the original purchase decision).
Overall, I have regretted this purchase.
