Nice Little Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on February 27, 2024

I wasn't too crazy about this little guy when I first used it. In fact, thought about sending it back because it just sound 'thin'. But…after some tweaking and turning some knobs (the physical ones, not the software) I really like it. Sounds good in my living room and plan on taking it in the RV when I travel. Thanks Mike.

i can't believe what i am seeing and hearing!!

firstly, this thing is gorgeous to look at and absolutely reeks of quality. secondly, from the very first time i plugged in to one of these, i was floored by the sound coming out: how can it sound as 'big' and GOOD as it does?!?!? THEN, there's the fact that it can be used as an interface and a bluetooth speaker. also the fact that the controls can be manipulated from a pc, mac, or cell phone. remarkable little amp

Worth every dollar

I,like many, have done my homework on this product and am VERY satisfied with this product. From beginner to pro, this amp shreds face and gives you the sound you want.

I really like the direct injection, different cabs/amps, effects, noise gate, etc. There is so much in this little box and it produces big sounds. I like using it to run biasfx on my mac, but the on board sounds are also really good. I recommend this amp to anyone who needs a practice amp. It delivers the goods (as does sweetwater).

Yamaha THR10 II Wireless

Outstanding quality!

Love it

Great practice Amp. Can get all the sounds I want for a quick practice without having to setup my full pedalboard. I am pairing it with the Line 6 guitar transmitter. Having some trouble getting Bluetooth to work but it's probably just user error. Been using it almost every day since I bought it

It's a perfect size for a uke player

I'll preface this by saying I am just a beginning/novice but I enjoy playing. I didn't think much about an amp until I visited a friend who had this unit and had a blast with it all week making songs that I was already playing sound cooler, and also then stretching to learn some new songs while on vacation where you can think about what "sound" you want. It works well and the wireless part just makes it much easier. You can still use a cord if you like or in a pinch I suppose if you were not charged up on your transmitter, but I like being able to walk around at leisure and strum.

Worth the money

This thing is great.

This little amp is better than my blues jr3!

By Kevin Lozano from Elk Grove, CA on November 8, 2020 Music Background: Guitar player for 30 years (Hobbyist)

I just received this amp and first time plugging it in I was blown away with the clarity and sound dynamics. It sounds like a much bigger amp than it looks. My wife loves the look of the amp and gave me the green light to leave it in the living room shelf as a permanent home. I love the fact that I do night need to spend much time to get the tone I am looking for. Not complicating at all. This is a stereo amp and reminds me of my Roland Jc 40 amp in a small package. Sorry fender blues jr. Up for sale now this amp sounds better than the blues jr. The Modulation, reverb, and echo built in is suprising and rich sounding. Overdrive is really really good! I also purchased the line 6 wireless dongle and I love walking around the house playing the guitar. I find myself inspired and creative again. Thank you Yamaha you are really have become my new favorite brand. I recently purchased the Yamaha rev star 502t and they look and pair up wonderfully. This amp is worth every penny, Trust me!

Great practice amp

By Sweetwater Customer on October 30, 2020

I've had this for a few days great tones out of the box and even better when connected to the app you're able to sculpt your tone. I would highly recommend it

Awesome Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on September 20, 2020

This is an awesome amp I use for home practice. I'd been looking at different amps and different retailers too but after talking to one of the guys at Sweetwater (Thanks Ben), I decided to get the THR10 II. The amp is really diverse and comes with so many different features, and there's no question about the sound quality. I recommend checking it out to see if it's something that fits your needs.

Best practice amp I've played!

By Daniel Rosenfarb from Norfolk, VA on August 22, 2020 Music Background: Guitarist/Vocalist/Studio Musician

I have only been playing this amp for 30 minutes and it is by far the best practice amp I've played. Utilizing the app is so easy, you have unlimited amount of sounds through it. The options are endless with all the cab changes, highly impressed! Wouldn't buy unless you are okay with using the app though. This amp would do well mic'd live, and will rival any recording. I have been playing guitar professionally for over a decade and haven't yet heard or used a more pleasing amp for practice.

Great practice amp!

By Ryan S from Portland, OR on November 23, 2019

This is the perfect little practice amp for home. The ability to play electric/acoustic/bass is awesome! Bluetooth with independent volume controls for the guitar signal are great features that work as they should. The THR app works great with the amp and unlocks additional features. The wireless with the G10 works with no issues and is a huge reason I purchased this as I have a toddler running around at home. This amp can do any genre from super clean to heavy gain. Yamaha is the parent company of Line 6 and you can hear the modeling technology at work. Highly recommend this amplifier!

Awesome Amp

By Gabe from Las Vegas on November 21, 2019

After researching the Yamaha THR amps for months, this newest model has all the features you would need for a practice amp and the sound is excellent. Sweetwater provides excellent customer service and Caleb was very pleasant and informative, he also gave me the best price on the internet. I would recommend Sweetwater to anyone for great deals and excellent customer service. Thanks to all the Sweetwater team.

First Impression-WOW!

By Perry D from Farmingdale, NY on November 7, 2019

I'm not surprised by the outstanding quality in both the build and sound of this box. I bought a THR10C last year and was astounded by that. So I really had no doubt the THR10 II wireless's sound would live up to that. The wireless and bluetooth features are what set this bad boy apart. I paired it to my iPad, opened the fre remote app, opened Yamaha's Chord Tracker app, also free; picked a preset sound and a song, hit play and whaled away on my guitar. No latency, no rice krispies (snaps, crackles or pops) just great sound. The amp puts out 20 watts when plugged in to AC and it sounds loud. My daughter actually came in the room and asked me to keep it down! I also have a GT10 I purchased from Sweetwater a while ago and that worked perfectly too. I have nothing bad to say about this big little amp after my initial use. My only problems are whether to keep my old THR10C and if I should have opted for the THR30 II!

I Love This Amp - Only One Complaint

By James Webster from Clinton, MA on June 15, 2021

I gave my Roland Micro Cube amp to my grandson and was going to buy another for myself. But after looking at quite a few reviews I decided to by the Yamaha THR10 Wireless 20-Watt instead. It's a lot more expensive but I was really attracted to the Yamaha's nearly infinite possibilities of settings and also really liked the idea of the rechargeable battery and built-in Line 6 wireless relay receiver. I've been using this amp for about 6 weeks now mostly with a Taylor T5z guitar which has built in acoustic and electric personalities. The amp has been everything I expected. The knob settings on the amp and the 5 memory buttons offer a lot of possibilities. And the Yanmaha THR Remote software hugely expands those options by allowing greater combinations of settings, including some that can't be set with only the amp's knobs -- such as Compression, selection of reverb type (spring, room, hall, plate), etc.

I am very happy with all of this. But here is my one complaint. Yamaha also has a free downloadable THR Editor app that in theory allows the storing and sharing of any number of amp settings -- BUT the THR Editor app does not work with the THR10 II amp. Why? I would think, since it works with other Yamaha THR amps that Yamaha could also make it work with this much more expensive model. Is there any chance that Yamaha will someday create a firmware update that could make this possible?? As a workaround I've created an MS Word document in which I'm saving screenshots of amp settings from the THR Remote app. Otherwise I end up finding something I like and then have no way to find those settings again later.

GET THE THR30-II!!!!!!

By Raheem Saafir from Brooklyn, NY on May 20, 2021

Firstly, I love this little amp...for all the reasons the other reviewers mentioned. It's beautiful, it's a fantastic practice amp, the wireless and Bluetooth work flawlessly, and the Yamaha emulations are divine. My only problem is that I got it for busking and it is not quite loud enough when I'm outdoors on a noisy street corner. I run my vocal mic into the Aux to sing along with my guitar. I have to be careful when my output volume is high or the speakers start to crackle and I'm worried I might blow them out. When I bought the THR-10 , I didn't realize how much more you get for fifty extra bucks with the THR-30! I'm pretty sure it would be loud enough for busking with the larger speakers. It also adds 1/4" outs on the back, and access to ALL of the modeling amps, which triples the number of sounds you can use without going to the app. It's a big upgrade for not much cash. Either way, these THR are worth every penny.

great but you might prefer the thr30ii

By Seth from California on January 1, 2021

I've used this almost everyday for the last six months... it's great and I'm overall very happy with it. It's not flawless: I have had some serious crackling on the hi gain setting, basically making the setting useless. And the G10 wireless has been a bit of a nightmare (if you have active pickups, beware).

Would I buy this again? Actually, no -- I'd get the THR30ii, for two reasons. First, with the 30 you can switch between 3x more amp models using just the dials on the amp. You can still access all these amp models on 10 by connecting your phone, but that's inconvenient and I often wish I just had the dials. Second, the 30 has a line out whereas the 10 does not. I didn't think I'd need the line out, but I realize now that if I want to use a looper pedal, you can do it using the line out on the 30 (there's a YouTube video about that).

4.5 out of 5 and yes, this little beast works great.

By Russ from St. Petersburg, FL on August 17, 2020 Music Background: Retired Pro

First off, let me get the Star Rating explained. Although I have had a pretty extensive tech career, I found the multi-language, multi-foldout manual a little lacking in detail. I ran into a particular, show-stopping problem, or I thought so, with pairing up the amp via Bluetooth to both my newer iPhone and my older Mac laptop. After much research I still could not find the problem, turns out it was as simple as clicking on the 'Bluetooth' icon so the connection would happen. Well, that would have been nice to include in the manual guys, and if I missed it I'll apologize now.

What I really needed was this little amp to have plenty of headphone output, a good input volume, both with plenty of clean headroom so that I have a complete environment for practicing, creating and recording ideas without bothering my wife. Unfortunately, she is still working now from home due to the virus and she's located in my studio room so she has access to 2 monitors and the whole setup.

So, to finish, everything works great, sounds great with speakers or headphones, and has the quality that Yamaha is known for!
Also, a big thanks to my main-man Jason at Sweetwater for hooking me up, appreciate it.

Great small amp but......

By mario from delaware on October 22, 2020

I give it 3.5 because compared to the 30 watt, it sounds a bit tinny and spikey in the upper midrange/low treble. The 30 watt has more low end and much fuller and rounder due to the higher wattage and larger speakers.

Otherwise a great amp. I returned mine to get a Demo THR30ii for the same price. Just my opinion. Spend the extra $50 for the 30ii.

Tons of potential and utility, not a lot of great sounds

By Aaron roosa from Abilene, TX on November 28, 2021

I have the thr10x and I prefer just about everything on the x to the ii, aside from Bluetooth connectivity and a rechargeable battery. The x takes pedals better (for whatever reason) and it sounds much better. After spending a few hours with the thr10ii, I was barely able to get any sounds I liked. But it does have the advantage of no cables, which is incredible.

Good idea not for me

By MARC HINTZMAN from REDLANDS, CA on September 17, 2021

I liked the wireless and battery capability of this amp however, the clean tone is too flat. I sent this amp back, if you dont play clean it might be fine for you.
