Simply the best plugin I've ever used.

By Asher Myers from Chicago on February 23, 2022 Music Background: Multi-instrumentalist, Producer, Recording Engineer

This baby right here means serious business. I haven't done a drum mix without this plugin in almost a year. It's just THE perfect channel strip for drums. I especially love how heavy-handed the limiter can be.. talk about BRICK WALL. I love how easy it is to set the compression/limiter to the perfect ratio. Such a rich, musical dynamics section. I cannot emphasize how crucial this is to my drum sounds. When bypassed, the drum mix completely loses all its weight and tone. I literally cannot record drums without monitoring with this plugin on the drum bus. It makes it sound finished, and playing into compression alters the performance in VERY necessary ways.
The EQ section is incredible, and often is nicely paired with the REDD plugins from the Abbey Road bundle. Its like using two Pultecs. It just makes sense.

This is also a really great mastering plugin. Crank the drive up a little bit, dial in your dynamics, and listen to the sweet buttery goodness that pours out of your monitors.

Tone Machine

I remember demoing this plugin a while back and it was one of those "love at first listen" moments. Needless to say, I bought it. It eats up quite a bit of CPU, so I usually use it on all of my tracks and commit, saving processing power. I absolutely love the color of the plugin and the musicality of the EQ, as well as the flavor of the dynamics processing. The spreader on the stereo component is wicked as well! I use this on literally every session and have yet to be disappointed. That said, this may not be the greatest channel strip for everyone, but if you're wanting vibe and color, come on in. Try before you buy!

Solid Plugin

Functions as advertised. Really dig the stereo widening, and parallel processing features. Not really feeling the sounds I am getting from drive function, but its an emulation that sounds like the original apparently, I get it.

If this had decent saturation, would be much more usable for me, but I guess that is what Cobalt Saphira is for.

Solid plug, especially if you get it on sale. Retail on plugs these days is a little overboard IMO, but I suppose waves knows their market best.

Anyways, solid plugin.

Thanks Waves!

The TG just sounds good when you put it on a track before adjusting any of the parameters. By no means a precise tool, the EQ and comp are nice colors to paint in broad strokes. The 'drive' on this plug in is the least useful parameter but the stereo field function is really helpful and sounds great. Overall a great plug in that I find myself using often.
