By Michael Foss from Silverdale, WA on March 7, 2023 Music Background: Professional studio owner.

I owned a real TC 2290 for a long time. Best delay ever. Sold it a while back but have missed it ever since. I just got the TC 2290DT and man am I glad I did! This thing sounds sooo good. I am amazed and I am glad to have this back in my arsenal!!! Can we please get more companies to make high-end products like this. I love these small tactical software plug ins!!!

I got this for it"s clear audio quality and it"s specialized delay ducking feature; if you are serious about getting great delays get this now!

TC 2290-DT

TC really pulled all the stops out for this remake of the 2290. I was so impressed with the 8210 and the 1210, that it was an obvious addition to my recording studio. All the sounds are amazing and the Controller unit allows me to dial in the effect parameters. The controller also provides so many options you won't find anywhere else. This is world class.

Makes me appreciate a good ITB interface

I waited months for this, as we use a lot of delays in the style of music we produce. TC Electronics does some great stuff right?

First the Good - It uses little resources. It sounds great.

The Bad - The hardware is kinda uselessly retro and it doesn't work without it. Difficult to get the sound you want.

Why have a plugin that requires a retro hardware controller? The TC 2290 requires this iphone 8+ size hardware item to be able to access much of it's control? There's also the VST window with additional buttons - so in a way, it's neither an ITB delay, nor outboard. It requires both to make tweaks.

The buttons are tiny, with cryptic nomenclature like only a 1980's piece of neu-digital outboard gear could be. I mean, it has a keyboard so you can easily remember to input the preset #187 (Cuz it's my favorite.) Now THATS a retro I can live without.

So here I am going *click click click click* adjusting my modulation threshold, while I could roll it with a mouse. TC thought it would be easier to use the keypad included I guess? Except I cant see which button I am pushing unless it has it's very own light in the studio.

I make music by how it sounds, not by settings of milliseconds of delay or percentages of feedback. It's neither hardware, nor software. Yet both. It makes me appreciate good interfaces that are in the box, even more. Thank you.
