TAMA threw out the book for its new flagship line of drums. The TAMA Star Bubinga Exotix shell pack represents the best of TAMA's fine Japanese craftsmanship with advancements in resonance and finishing. Five inner plies of ultra-dense bubinga wood with high-contact bearing edges and 9mm Sound Focus Rings give the toms and bass drum in this shell pack a fat, focused tone with a quick attack and relatively dry ring — perfect for close-miking. This particular kit is finished in an outer layer of highly figured Australian blackwood, with a pronounced grain pattern that is entirely unique to every kit. The TAMA Star Bubinga Exotix's hand-finished cordia inner ply and bearing edges provide a luxurious look from whatever side of the kit you're on.

Modern shell technology meets Old-World craftsmanship
At just 4.5mm, TAMA Star Bubinga Exotix shells are much thinner than their Starclassic Bubingas. This lets the bubinga wood in the toms and kick vibrate naturally for power, depth, and dynamics. Shells feature 9mm Sound Focus Rings to tighten up attack and dry out unwanted overtones.
Superior hardware and tom supports
TAMA's world-class craftsmanship didn't stop at its shells. Engraved zinc die-cast hoops give the toms in this shell pack a crisp attack and focused tone. Die-cast hoops are generally considered easier to tune and stay truer than triple-flanged hoops. Rack toms come readied with SRMS mounts for aftermarket Star tom stands (sold separately; not included). Floating floor tom legs and bass drum spurs sit on a cushion of air to maximize low end and decouple drums from the floor. And cup-shaped Hold Tight washers with rubber rings keep tension screws from loosening through heavy hitting.
Fitted with Remo heads for great tones out of the box
Sweetwater applauds TAMA for outfitting its Star Bubinga Exotix shell pack with industry-standard heads. Toms come standard with Ambassador batter heads and clear Ambassador bottom heads. This combo delivers a classic look and a hearty tone with natural resonance. The kick drum comes fitted with a coated Powerstroke 3 batter head for a contoured, pre-EQ'd sound, and includes a Fiberskyn Powerstroke 3 Diplomat front head proudly branded with the TAMA logo.
