ADAM Audio T7V 7-inch Powered Studio Monitor Reviews

Active Vertical 2-way Nearfield Monitor with 50W 7" Woofer and 20W U-ART Accelerated-ribbon Tweeter

As a member of the T Series, ADAM Audio’s line of professional 2-way active studio monitors, the T7V features a 7-inch polypropylene low-frequency driver that delivers bass extension down to an impressive 39Hz, while the company's U-ART accelerated-ribbon tweeter provides pristine highs extended up to 25kHz – quite remarkable for a monitor in this price range. The tweeter's broad, uniform dispersion pattern is assisted by a precision waveguide modeled on the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM’s premium S Series studio monitors, which provides an impressively wide sweet spot that liberates you from being constrained to a rigid listening position.

Great for home

By Sweetwater Customer

Perfect speakers to have at home for listening to music with great audio quality. I dont produce music, so I cant speak on the Yamaha vs Adams audio debate for mixing, nor do I care. Theyre just amazing speakers to hear the mids/lows crystal clear in songs you like, without paying insane prices for high quality speakers. The 7 inch speakers are powerful enough for an entire living room

Great monitors, fantastic quality at this price point.

By Dominic S. from New Haven, CT
Music Background: Semi-professional musician with 2 decades experience.

Believe the hype… the T7V is a fantastic monitor, even when compared to monitors that are almost twice the price. Tight and robust low end, crystal clear highs with fantastic detail. Add the IK Multimedia ARC hardware and you'll have a monitoring solution that rivals monitors that are 4X the price.

A real game changer

By Sweetwater Customer

I purchased these to replace my Bowers & Wilkins 706 S3 bookshelf speakers that I powered with a vintage tube amp because I wanted to conserve some space by removing the amp. I thought I had a pretty good setup for monitoring mixes and listening to audio in general. I was a little reluctant to buy such an inexpensive speaker, I was originally leaning towards the A7v. From experience I have learned this is one of those areas you pretty much get what you pay for. After reading the reviews on these I figured I would give them a try, I could always return them if I wasn't satisfied with them. I received them in excellent condition in only a couple days, thanks Sweetwater for such good shipping service. After unboxing them and setting them up I powered them on and first tried some music I had recently mixed. I was really surprised at the overall sound quality, it was actually better then my $ B&W speakers, much better in fact. There was much more clarity in the mid and high range and the stereo separation was more pronounced. The entire mix was more articulate and lively. The only downside is the bass is not as crisp as I would like, but it's not boomy or obnoxious, just not as tight as I would like. Overall these speakers performed above and beyond my expectations, if you are looking for a decent set of studio monitors that won't break the bank, I would highly recommend these.

Sound fantastic

By Greg from Austin
Music Background: Singer/songwriter

I'm really happy with these monitors. I record my bands in my home studio and they have made it so much easier.
Mixing has become a pleasure, all the tracks are super clear like the band is in my living room. I'm somewhat new to recording at home but my sweetwater rep Logan Ashman came through again with this recommendation (he's the best!)
The price was really good, I got the package and couldn't be happier.

Great Studio Monitors at any Price Point. Period.

By Greg

Put descriptive terms like "Professional monitoring for the budget conscious studio" or "Great for the money" out of your mind. These are great monitors at any price point! Keep in mind the reason you have studio monitors in the first place and that's to translate your mixes to the real world, where normal people don't listen to multi-thousand dollar loudspeakers. What you want is a speaker which doesn't have a flabby or hyped low end, has honest midrange, and won't make your ears tired after 15 minutes. These meet all three requirements in spades. But it helps that they do it at a "budget conscious" price point. We like the smoothness of the ribbon HF driver, which is not anything like the dark, warm sound of a ribbon microphone. These can bear very bright, if you want them to be. We also like that the cabinet, which is no doubt a low cost, MDF design, doesn't flab or transmit sound to your mixing desk, unlike some other really-nice sounding monitors in the price range. With these, you don't need to waste money on expensive monitor isolation stands. Pop them onto a couple of mouse pads if you think you need isolation. The only downsides are that the input controls aren't stepped, the power LED is on the back, and there is no power-on delay. If you power up your system with a single power switch, you will likely hear pops from your audio interface, as it powers up. Of course, you can avoid this with a passive monitor level control.

Excellent Budget Monitors

By Sweetwater Customer

After some hours of breaking in with various styles of music, these Adam Audio monitors sound great. They seem to have a decently flat response with some powerful lows and crisp high end. For reference, I'm an amateur audio engineer, but have been doing this for groups I have played with and some other friends' bands for ~25 years. These have been great so far for what I need and I've been very satisfied. That said, the *only* complaint I have about these is the unfortunate location of the power status LED being on the back. That is the only reason I had to drop it down a star.

Great affordable, high quality powered studio monitors

By Bill H. from Charlotte, NC
Music Background: Guitar, Bass Player and Producer. Reverbnation Instrumental Artist

These are very nice monitors for a home or small project studio. They seem neutral and fairly full frequency, other than the ultra low bass. I use them with a sub and they cover most of the rest of the frequencies very well. In a small space they could suffice without a sub and it would depend on the type of source material that you're mixing. With a good monitor, you want to hear your mixes as uncolored as possible and these accomplish that. My only knock would be that the volume pots do not have detents to get each side at the a matching volumes, so you have to eyeball it to set levels, but that seems to work just fine. There are small eq adjustments for highs and lows around back that allow you to fine tune them for your space. They are ported, so placement tight against a wall will affect the bass output balance. I have mine about 2 feet out from the wall with little or no bass emphasis. They seem solid, well made and I think they look nice and professional. I think that they're priced well for the quality you get.

great for the money

By DKL
Music Background: former music industry tech professional

These are nice sounding speakers. Very low noise, I've left them on for days and never realized because they were so quiet. That brings up my only complaint. The power light is located on the back of the speakers, so you can't see it. That seems dumb to me. I used to have a pair of A7X's. The T7V's are not in that league, not as clear sounding in the top end or as well defined in the lows, but for the money, I'm happy with them.

Great monitors ….

By Marcelo C. from New Jersey

I usually dont write reviews, however in this case.
I figured my opinion could help someone on the fence about these monitors make a decision!
I purchased these on a recommendation from my sales engineer Jared Atwood. He definitely steered me the right way. These monitors are very pleasing
And balanced. Plenty of lows and in my opinion a very neutral midrange. Very detailed and really good separation of frequencies!
Also the highs are not piercing in any way ,very comfortable to listen to for long periods of time. I firmly believe these are top notch for their price tag. Thanx Jared and Sweetwater

Superb sound quality, affordable.

By Lane J. from Sun City, AZ
Music Background: Self taught intermediate Bass.

These monitors put the sound where you sit, not everywhere else. My family members have appreciated that the highs and mid ranges that seemed to carry thru every room of the house are gone. I can hear everything clearly and can keep the volume levels lower overall.

Audio reproduction is better then anything I have previously used and I really have nothing to compare these to in all honestly. The mid and treble pots on my bass have a use now. No complaints.

Wow.

By Zane P. from Saint Louis, MO
Music Background: Music Producer, Musician

I'm a producer transitioning into professional vocal tracking and mixing. After MANY years of working on my trusty old Rokits, my ears told me it was time for an upgrade. As I grew to understand Flat Frequency Response, I also began to realize why professionals claim they are colored or "amateur-sounding"…

After some research and reviews I narrowed my decision down the Yamaha HS8 pair or the ADAM T7V pair, once I saw the T7V subwoofer bundle there was just no way I could pass it up. You can never go wrong with German engineering! ;)

"Should be a decent little step up" I thought… I had some idea of how they might sound from reviews…

During my very first listen, everything freshly hooked out of the box (treated room, ZERO calibration)… BLOWN AWAY. The high end + low end + stereo image and depth + loudness + sleek build, man all I can say is that I've seriously been missing out for years by using my old gear.

After calibrating, these have the cleanest, most even, CRISPY sound in my room, and the T10S ties it all together with serious deep, accurate bass. This setup has single-handedly given me an entirely new perspective on music creation, I am forever grateful to ADAM Audio

ADAM Audio T7V 7 Inch Powered Studio Monitor

By Mark R. from Roseville CA

I purchased these monitors late Fall 2023 and am extremely happy with the decision. I needed something to improve the quality of the sound coming from the upper register of my Yamaha P515 Keyboard. I borrowed and then tested the 5" Yamaha speakers and heard virtually no improvement.I discussed the situation with an acquaintance who has his own studio for mixing music and he recommended I look at Yamaha and Adam Audio. After doing some online study of what makes the ADAM Audio speakers different I explained my dilemma to Cristian at Sweetwater and he was very positive about the benefits and quality of the Adam Audio speaker - so I took a chance and bought them. I think that the design of the speakers is very different which is good. You can adjust the tweeter separate from the woofer AND the tweeter is much larger on these speakers than on everything else I saw (e.g. 3 sizes of Yamaha) in this general price range. I am very pleased with the improvement in sound. Sure, they are a little larger than the two smaller sized Yamaha speakers but the sound is so much better in my opinion.

fantastic sound at a low price and as usual excellent service

By Greg K. from Philo, CA

I read in these reviews at this near field. Monitor was great and my buddies who are in to recording including my teacher said the same. I didn't expect such a great response. It's a great way to start off you don't need a subwoofer.
So I can purchase one of these as a demo and the second one outright and sadly the second one came and didn't function. No problem! I've been using these for 4 years now, and they're still kicking great! Sound quality is amazing, way better than anything I've used in the same price range.
On the third year one of them started cutting out around 75% in volume on occasion, not sure what does that but if I jiggle the volume knob it comes back to full volume immediately. Happens maybe once every other month, and I don't get too bothered by it.
Overall I highly recommend these beasts.

Excellent Studio Monitors

By Josh C. from Forest, VA
Music Background: Touring Musician, Professional Recording Artist, Amateur Home Studio Producer

I have been using a pair of Kali LP-6's as my main monitor setup for the last couple years and they've been really good, especially at their price point, but when I got the Adam Audio T7V's hooked up and was able to A/B them side by side, it's a world of difference. These are so crisp and clear and I never thought the Kali's sounded muffled until I heard them beside these. I still use the Kali's as reference monitors, but the T7V's will stay my main setup for a long time. I was looking into either getting these or a pair of Focals, and although I have not been able to compare these side by side with a focal set, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and glad I went with Adam Audio.

No listening Fatigue

By Joey K.
Music Background: broadcast audio technician and amatur beatmaker

I'm speechless. These are ridiculously neutral sounding, to the point where if there's even the slightest thing off, you can hear it, And that's not even the main reason I'm writing this review. I've been listening to music on these for over 8 hours and have experienced no listening fatigue whatsoever. I was skeptical on this point reading the other reviews, but it's no joke. if you need a pair of workhorse speakers at this price range, don't get anything else. I don't want to mix on anything else now. I'm going to try and get my work (broadcast facility) to get me a pair of these, so I don't get listening fatigue at work either lol.

Perfect for the home studio

By Rich
Music Background: Pro

I am loving these monitors! I looked at Yamaha, Focal and KRK, and ultimately chose these (and, as always, purchased from the great folks at Sweetwater!). I have an older and smaller set of Mackies which have served me well and it was time to upgrade - and what an upgrade it is! While the T7Vs sounded great right out of the box, once I burned these in I was really able to hear the separation I was hoping for and the balance between highs, mids, and lows. They exhibit such a clean sound and my ears do not get fatigued in longer sessions. Highly recommended!

Hear What You Should Be Hearing

By Justin R. from Ravenna, OH

I bought these after my M-Audio Bx5 D2s** bit the dust, and I was running into some major problems getting a good mix and hearing the stereo image properly with an even frequency response. I found myself turning up the volume as I was strangely unable to hear things correctly, where the volume was previously correct. I also found myself cocking my head more side-to-side to try and find the stereo image (something I have to do with the disability of only hearing in one ear in order to locate things around me in a space). Given the problems, I figured it was time, and Mike Singer steered me the right way towards these.

I burned these in for 8 or so hours just listening to random music. While I was listening, I felt like a kid again popping Van Halen into a Walkman and putting the earphones on. So many details just jumped out at me. I was actually hearing things that I had not heard before on my last set of monitors. Cued up the Star Wars soundtrack, and I could hear individual instruments: the pluck of the double bass, the sigh of the violins, the brass stabs and strikes on the timpani. It was all there. Popped some Nightwish in, and I could hear the subtle orchestral stuff, instead of just the chunky guitar/bass/drums. Cued up Van Halen, and it sounds just like I remember it straight off the vinyl or tape. Old mixes in Ableton sound amazing, (or embarrassing, as in the case of my recent mixes using my burned-out M-Audios as a reference).

The speakers are large, but not obtrusive. In terms of frequency response: flat. You hear exactly what you should be hearing, and what you want and expect to hear. You don't even have to turn up the volume much to hear what you should be hearing. The HP and LP filter switches on the back give just the right amount of oomf when needed, but I feel most of the time they are not.

If you do stuff with sub drops like in cinematic trailers, consider getting the matching sub. I will likely be doing this soon, as I need to defer to some Sennheiser headphones to cue tracks and listen to the sub ranges and make sure they are not overwhelming before I send to a music supervisor. For rock/metal and such, you won't need the sub.

Sweetwater's customer service is second-to-none. They have always treated me right, and they never push the hard sell like they do at Guitar Center.

**side note: avoid M-Audio. They used to be a good brand, but they have changed hands a few times, and their current umbrella company is terrible for customer service.

Great monitors, even better price point

By Baker J. from WA
Music Background: 30+ years as a hobbyist/ home-recording/ jam-session musician.

I bought a pair of these monitors to use with an AxeFX III for my home studio, and am completely satisfied with them. I spent several months researching various FR/FR options, and it came down to these and the Presonus Scepters. I took a flier on the lower price point T7V figuring that if I was anything less than thoroughly impressed with them, I'd simply send them back and get the Presonus units. Long story short, these aren't leaving me, ever. I picked up a pair of Ultimate Support MS-90/36 monitor stands, and they support the monitors beautifully and make them sound even better.

These speakers are amazing! I have a very small studio and the sound is extremely complimentary to the space... Beautiful clear highs without being harsh... just the right midrange and bass output. I was using JBL 2308s for over ten years in treated and untreated rooms. No matter what I did nothing would translate. I always felt like I had cotton in my ears. I got to the point where I was tempted to mix solely on headphones. Before I full made the move I ordered these and wow they are amazing. When setup properly and in a treated room they are stellar.

Excellent lows, not overly hyped highs, crisp transients, and a great stereo image. These are an unbelievable steal for the money.

these are amazing

By kage from san diego, ca
Music Background: EDM producer and recording engineer

i did about six months of research before buying these. i wanted something accurate that can put out substantial, but clean bass. after deciding that kalis and JBLs were just too ugly, which is a ridiculous reason not to buy monitors, i narrowed it down to the HS7 or these. you can get more accurate monitors for about this price in 4" woofers, which doesn't really do the job for bass-heavy genres. the HS7 are a bit pricier, and are apparently less flat than their reputation might have you believe.

some things i learned after buying these: they fit exactly on gator frameworks clamp-on monitor stands, which is awesome because it means you can get the tweeters right to ear height. with the bass switches set to +2db, these things really bang - some folks had reported wanting to use a subwoofer with them, but this is in my opinion ridiculous, unless you're using them for a party or something. i mix hip hop and house music, so i am no stranger to bass, but these things give you as much bass as you'd want in a monitoring context. arguably +2db is excessive - my shirt is rattling as i type this. lastly, these things are more beautiful in real life than they are in google images. not that it should matter, but when folks come into your creative space, these will impart an air of seriousness.

some folks whine about not having any controls or power indicators on the front - i don't think this is something to worry about, since you set these up once and then never touch them again. a single power strip with an on/off switch and light indicator is more convenient than having to reach behind both monitors to turn them on/off individually. in this price range, i would rather be putting all the money into sound reproduction than fancy controls anyway.

great monitors for the price

By David C. from New York

The highs and mids are clear, the low mids and lows are okay. It's hard to grade the lows because of differing listening environments, but my experience on the T7Vs is pretty good. My only issues are the noisy amps and the variable attenuation knobs - I wish they had a notch at 0.

Best Monitors at Price Point

By Sweetwater Customer from Colorado
Music Background: Professional saxophonist, amateur engineer

I purchased these monitors about 6 months ago and I've been very impressed. I compared them with the 8" JBL and 8" KRK monitors - I found that the JBLs lacked detail and separation, while the KRKs had quite a lot of buildup in the lows and low-mids.

The T7Vs have exceptional clarity and separation, and I found it much easier to dial in a good-sounding mix. Adam Audio emphasizes their ribbon tweeter design, and I have to agree that they sound great and don't cause fatigue.

While these monitors have a full-bodied bass response, they can get a bit boxy in the low-mids if you push them hard. This is really just a physics issue - I'm considering picking up the matching sub to pick up the low end material and high-pass the monitors.

If you think anything at this price point requires real compromise, give these a shot. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I've had these monitors for a little over a week and I'm really pleased so far. The response is fairly even and the sound is pretty accurate. I've used these and other ADAM monitors in studios before and I'm happy I went with a pair of T7Vs for my home set-up.

Invisible Speakers

By Jeff from TEXAS
Music Background: Pro 45 years, POP, JAZZY, R&B, SOUL.

Had some HS 5s, they were OK, until I read that other people were having ear fatigue and their mixes not translating well to other set-ups, and then the light bulb went off. Didn't want to spend a lot, just get good monitors. I mix for fun, and tracks for the band which just weren't sounding as good through the sound system as they should have. Mostly R&B style tunes.

Well these monitors get rid of the ear fatigue, they're not as cued up in the midrange, plenty of low end but CLARITY. I can hear parts with more separation now I usually have lots of tracks with strings, synths, several guitars, percussion etc. So I can see why my mixes before were dull, I EQ'ed out the stuff I needed!

Get these!

Nice monitors

By Mark L.

Most powered monitor reviews are very positive, and without having tested many of them I can't claim that the ADAM T7Vs are better than others available. That said, I'm very happy with them - they are easy to mix with at moderate volume and pleasant to listen to. They capture subtlety much better than my old monitors (no longer on market) did. They picked up interference when I first set them up (evidently due to a power and/or signal chain issue; I didn't have a similar problem with my old monitors), but with help from my sales engineer (Dave Dunsire), Sweetwater's Technical Support team and ADAM's support team we were able to troubleshoot the problem by using an isolating transformer.

Amazing Sound for Detail Mixing

By Darrell from Texas

I really love the sound of these studio monitors. I placed them equally apart on my desk where my ear level is right between the tweeter and main speaker and they sound amazing. I am hearing details in songs that I never heard before. There is just the right amount of bass (not too heavy nor too thin) and the treble is very good. I use them for mixing and for listening to music in general. I am very happy with them would recommend them, you will not be disappointed.

Great speakers!

By Keith from Tennessee

The highs are a lot calm and clear. I have the high end turned up by +2 dB. Low end is punchy and can bump if you use the +2 dB bass booster, but I think they sound the cleanest at -2 dB. Some of this depends on room acoustics but those are my impressions after owning them for a couple of weeks.

I'm very happy with these speakers and would recommend them to anyone looking for speakers at this price range.

Great value and solid performance

By Quanah D. from Texas
Music Background: Musician, composer, studio engineer, vocals

I've only had the TV7's for a week so I'm still learning them (did the 24 burn in). So far I have agree with the great reviews I've seen (Sweetwater and You Tube). I have not tested how well they translate and I'm still tweaking my set up. My previous monitors where the Yamaha HS5s with a Presonus Temblor. Using these around 60 hz crossover with the TV7s and they Steve sounding really clear and un-hyped. Same little irritations as other reviewers- light is on back and no hard set point on gain knob. Great choice For high end features with a low price point!

Big Upgrade from HS5 w/ sub

By Adam from Maine
Music Background: Jazz and classical

I've been mixing on HS5s with a sub for several years and have decided to try something else. I'm not a serious pro and actually spend more time playing jazz and classical gigs than working on recordings so I don't think my knowledge and experience is that useful for those who work with more contemporary forms of the audio arts.
Here's what I've noticed:
- Ear fatigue is almost non-existent where the HS5s constantly caused a good deal of discomfort.
- The stereo imaging is much better and the sweet spot for the mix position is a bit larger.
- Mids are more detailed and still provides a nice flat response that translates well into other audio sources.
- Overall detail is much better and has allowed me to put mixes to a higher level. When needing to make a quick mix for a social media or advertisement posting then I can confidently make a good sounding recording with confidence in less than 30 mins.
- No sub! For all acoustic recordings these speakers certainly do exactly what I need them to do. Happy I can cut out one more additional hardware item to be routed through.
- Great for recreational listening. I've been hearing details I never heard before in some of my favorite recordings. I replayed Bill Evans Symbiosis and this recording now has a whole new life to it.

Worth It

By marc s. from Sunnyside, UT

Had these a while now. I was able to leave all adjustments in a neutral position. Good clear sound. The tweeter is not obnoxious. Pleased that the base is clear and also powerful. I was a little worried about the base being too weak. Not a problem. I do wish the power switches were on the front. I solved this with a dedicated power supply that takes two plugs and mounted it in a place I can easily turn on and off while sitting at my work station. They look good, sound good and I would purchase again. They are powered by an Audient iD14 and I use them in conjunction with Audio-Technica ATH-R70x.

Amazing

By Billy P. from Denver, CO

I have been using the Adam Audio T7v's for about 6 months now and I am blown away by the quality sound that comes out of them. I am using them with the Focusrite Clarett 8prex. I am very happy with the whole setup. I just pulled the trigger and added a pair of the T5v's and the Sub 8. I can't wait to see how the whole setup sounds! Thank you Sweetwater!

Coming from a7x's

By Nick S. from Philadelphia, PA
Music Background: Gear Snob

I am completely amazed by these monitors. So i had a7x's for about 8 years and used them every single day. I was blown away how close these are to the a7x's. the 7xs maybe hold up the detail at higher volumes but at regular mixing volumes it really is pretty amazing for being a 3rd the price. Also the translation is what adams are known for and these don't disappoint in that field. Exactly how it sounds in my studio is how it sounds on my iPhone and in my car which if you are not used to that luxury in life it truly is the greatest thing. To be confident that your mix will sound good everywhere you play it is the best feeling. No more guess and check mixing

Just buy these honestly. you'll love them. I will say the a7x's are better but really not by all that much. these really should cost more than they do

Also don't buy HS80's, buy these instead

What a great add to the Adams monitor line!

By John M. from Orlando, FL
Music Background: Producer/Engineer

I had a client contact me looking for a recommendation for studio monitors. As a user of Adams A7 series (including the sub), I recommended this more affordable "home" studio solution.

When I finally got to hear them in my client's studio I was blown away by their similarity to my own Adams speakers. The ONLY drawback in my opinion the decision to use back porting rather than the front porting found on the A7 series. If you place these speakers right in front of a wall or in a corner, you could get a lot of bass build up. Fortunately Adams provided switchable (+/- 2dB) treble and bass controls. When I engaged the -2 dB switch for the bass settings, it pretty much solved any of my monitoring concerns.

If you are looking for an affordable Adams solution, these are the ticket! I will probably pick up a pair myself to use for remote location dates.

Perfect for Recording & Mixing

By Robert N. from NY
Music Background: Recording Engineer, Musician, Song Writer

I was looking for replace Monitors. I looked at a variety of active speakers in the "below $500 range per pair" price range.

I compared the JBL 308P MKII 8 the KRK ROKIT 8, and the ADAM T7V. I know everyone has their own sound preferences and these three speakers were each slightly different. Listening to them side by side I noticed the that JBL and the KRK had a more pronounced lower frequency, however I loved that I could hear the individual low frequency instruments in the Dream Theater song that I was playing much better, it was more defined with the ADAM T7V's. I also listened to the tweeters and the high frequencies, they all sound nice but the JBL and ADSM seemed smoother then the KRK.

I purchased the ADAM T7V speakers and once at home in my studio I played other songs that I felt tell me more about the speaker and I was blown away at how they performed on each song. Tight, plenty of bottoms, smooth all through the sound spectrum. Moreover, the ADAM T7V has a very nice imaged sweet spot when mixing. I will not be mastering at my studio, mostly recording but these monitors will tell me when I have the music sounding right.

Total Surprise

By DoubleH from Ohio
Music Background: 45 + years as a musician.

I ordered these to be my secondary monitors as I have the Focal Alpha 80"s
During the break end period. I thought I made a huge mistake. Had the volume set at zero and the lows and highs neutral.
Decided to crank the volume all the way up on the monitors and take another listen. It"s like they all of a sudden came to life. So I turned my audio interface down to listen at my usual level. And they just flat out sound awesome.
Now I have to remix all my songs. Ugh! But it"s gonna be worth it.

Incredible

By Jon G. from East coast
Music Background: Jazz and synths

Deep bass, nice crisp highs...really nice controls and placement instructions for getting that sweet spot. Beautiful sounding monitors. For the price you can"t beat them. They"re surprisingly light weight. Probably due to the plastic housing (vs fiberboard). The tone is so nice. Perfect for a small studio setup. I noticed a bit of distortion in the tweeters, so I adjusted the high frequency dB by -2 and they sound even better in my space.

Fantastic sounding monitors

By Promit

Traded up to these from a set of good bookshelf speakers and they are seriously impressive. I prefer them to the popular JBL competition, and they sound very similar to their more expensive A7X brethren as well. Superb imaging and clarity, with great balance across the spectrum. They even dig fairly deep, although a subwoofer is still a necessity for true full range performance. In the price point and market segment, these are the easy winners.

Superb

By MS
Music Background: Producer/Engineer

These speakers are simply divine! As many reviews will tell you about Adam speakers, the mids and highs are near perfect with Adam"s ribbon tweeters. The bass sounds great, too. Pretty much a five star rating all the way around, don"t hesitate at all to purchase. It"s kind of crazy these speakers are this affordable. My only complaints are because of my specific needs and have nothing to do with the speaker not delivering. Be aware that these are not ported speakers, like the higher level Adams, so they are much larger in size (depth) to allow for proper base response. Usually this is not an issue for most people if you have enough room in your studio or set up, but my specific needs require a couple inches more shallow. Also, I already have a sub, so the 7 inch woofer is adding more lows I already have and I would rather concentrate more on mids, so will upgrade and downsize to the 5 inch Pros to even out all the frequencies. These speakers are phenomenal!

Amazed

By Joey from Nashville, TN
Music Background: Tracking, Mixing, Mastering Engineer

I used a pair of KRK Rokit 8s up until recently and was not satisfied with the translation of my mixes. I had gotten used to the response of the Rokits and could work my way around their flaws but I knew that what I was hearing wasn"t even close to accurate.
Decided to upgrade slightly and narrowed in on these.
After I unboxed and set them up, I listened to music on them for about an hour to break them in, they sound very good. But the big thing that really sold me on them was how revealing they are on the top in end and how solid they made the stereo field sound.
I brought up a mix that I had been tinkering with for a couple days and wasn"t happy with and within the first minute of listening, I knew what I needed to fix and made the changes accordingly.
I"ve found that these speakers cut my mixing time in half. With the KRK"s I would have to spend much more time referencing the mixes on other sets of speakers. With the TV7s and my Adam sub, I still reference my mixes and masters but I find that I don"t have to make as many changes as I did when using the KRKs.

To sum it all up, these speakers are very very good sounding and very good for mixing. I"m extremely happy with my purchase. Like I said, these singlehandedly made my mixes better and helped me get to the finish line in a shorter amount of time.

Accuracy Clarity Value

By Daniel H. from IL
Music Background: Instrumentalist, composer, wannabe engineer :)

I had been using Presonus Eris 4.5s for several years so, obviously, this was a tremendous upgrade. I had always struggled with mix translations from Studio One to other sound systems which was quite frustrating...constantly remixing, especially for low end and air.

Three main points warrant mention here.

1. The tonal accuracy of these monitors is unbelievable when the price is considered. I had checked out the 5s but that extra few Hz on the low end TOTALLY make the higher price of the 7s worth it. The highs are clean and, like many reviewers across the web have said, ear fatigue was absent following a 6 hour mixing session. The lows are pronounced, not muddy, and the crossover selection by Adam appears to be spot on. Mid-range frequencies are clean, easy to separate from the poles, and reveal lots of errors in my previous mixing of my current project. For this price, it is a steal.

2. The monitors do not have to be pushed to reveal the total spectral pallet. Even at low levels, below 65 db, the mids are pronounced, the lows are meaty, and the highs sit nicely at the top end. I never mix above 85 db anyway. However, crank these bad boys up and you can rock a decent size room while maintaining quality tone.

3. I shopped monitors across many brands as I prepared to make a purchase. Certainly, there are better monitors but I would have to spend double the money to gain a small, incremental change in accurate, quality sound.

These monitors are perhaps the best dollar for value purchase I have made in getting my little studio up and running strong. Oh yeah, shout out to my sales bro, Kevin, for including these in his list of recommended monitors. As always, Kevin never steers me wrong. Thanks again Kevin.

Amazing...WOW

By Carrick S. from MI
Music Background: Performer, Recording Enthusiast, Film Composer, Composer

These monitors are incredibly well rounded. They have this amazing shine/shimmer to them that really allows you to hear things in your mixes and music that you never knew were there. I even hooked my turntable up to my system to allow it to be run through these bad boys and it sounds so beautiful and warm, without any sacrifice of clarity. My only complaint, these really should be paired with a sub. Most monitors require one anyway, and these are in such a reasonable price point that getting a sub is even more affordable. I did not lower my review because of that reason. Shout out to my sales rep Chris for guiding me in such a great direction!

Very Pleasant Surprise.

By Warren H. from Grayslake, IL
Music Background: Voiceover, musician, recordist, mixing and live sound engineer. And, I do windows.

This was one of those purchases that came out of an immediate need in session. So, I didn't have a lot of time to research.

What I needed was a nearfield, with a small footprint, for a musician who was still new to the process. Nothing mission critical. But, it did have to be reasonably good. On a budget.

I use Focals in the mixing/editing studio, so, I looked at the entry level models. The price was right, but my Sales Engineer recommended the Adams, for performance at that level. He's not steered me wrong, yet, so I took his counsel and made the purchase.

They're a bit larger than I expected, but they fit on the IsoAcoustics stands nicely, and dropped into the space I'd set aside for them. Properly staged, I ran some pink noise through them to begin the dial-in, and was quite surprised to hear a very smooth, and surprisingly precise pink noise. Analytics showed them to be a bit bottom heavy, but, again, not mission critical, and I like a bit of bottom, so, I ran some of my previous mixes through them.

THAT was a striking experience.

Clean, smooth, very well detailed, but not strident. Revealing some acoustics flaws I'd known were there, but had not heard on other entry level monitors.

They're not excessively bright. Mids are present, but not too far forward. Bass is a lot rounder than I expected from this size cabinet, and the highs are very well detailed and surprisingly linear, to the top of my hearing, anyway. For this kind of money, these are very hard to beat.

I'm finding I'm enjoying simply playing music, or listening to the radio through them while working on studio improvements. And, they're so precise, I could hear the less than first class studio acoustics on a talk station, off air. Which I'd never heard on an entry level monitor.

To be clear, they're not overly powerful. But, they produce enough level for comfortable nearfield listening. And, they're not as precise as higher end monitors. So, if you need mission critical nearfields, these may not be for you. But the compromises are in the right places, the performance is WAY above the rim for this class of monitor, and the price is definitely right. Looking for Good, without Expensive. These are what you're looking for.

Stellar monitors for the price, gets 5 stars on sound but 4.5 on functionality - would love the power indicator light on the front, TRS inputs, and the power switch on the front like the A7x"s would be swell. Really blown away by the detail and huge sweetspot - say goodbye to ear fatigue! Flagship of the budget range, and they are built tough! Thanks for your honesty, Adams.

Two of those magical "Moments" from one purchase

By Randy S. from Colorado
Music Background: Songwriter/Worship Leader

For years I have struggled with Events TSR 8s sounding beautiful but not translating mixes. I only had a small budget and my Sweetwater Sales Engineer suggested these ADAM boxes. I went for the 7s.
After hooking them up to my studio I started the process of break in. I was listening to my common commercial mixes and I was spellbound. Its like I had never heard music before! I was hearing things in the mix that I didn't know existed. The other phenomenon was there is a spacial virtual center in the imaging. It sounds like the center panned items are "floating" in the middle of the air. Lead vocals, for example, sound less predominate in the mix but extremely clear and defined. I literally have to relearn how to listen to mixes. Jaw dropping experience. BUT! do they translate?
So I was working on a small, quick project to create a 28 second bumper music for a sports show. So I used these for the whole process from tracking, mixing and mastering. Got my MP3 out the door. Huge test. Did they translate? I was blown away and too happy to describe when I listened to my mix on an iPhone, car stereo, and earbuds. Everything is present and represented just like I mixed it. Everything I read about decent monitors is true! It works! I can finally accurately mix. Best purchase ever!
