Taylor T5z Pro Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Grape Vine, Sweetwater Exclusive Reviews
This T5z Pro Hollowbody Electric Guitar pairs a rare finish, only available Sweetwater, with a classic premium spread of T5z features — namely, humbucking and acoustic pickups, a thin ergonomic body carve, and a silky string feel that’s out of this world. A figured maple top and back and sides made from urban ash give this T5z stunning resonance and looks that are a cut above, even for Taylor. These tonewoods are a natural fit for the T5z Pro’s hollowbody shape and hybrid electronics. Ash’s wide-open focus is a natural canvas for the clear, crisp tone of the maple top. Beyond powering compelling sonics in acoustic or electric modes, these premium tonewoods also show off lots of wood grain for a look that exudes luxury. Moreover, the T5z Pro plays like a dream with supremely soft action fueled by a 24.875-inch scale ebony fingerboard and comfortable modern carved mahogany neck. Acoustic or electric? For discerning players who crave both, this is the ultimate guitar. Strike while the iron is hot with a unique T5z Pro Hollowbody, only available from Sweetwater!

So smooth to play
I've primarily played acoustic guitar for years but have been getting into electric more lately. I wanted something that sounded great acoustically but allowed me to jump straight into electric tone. It's not an acoustic guitar but does get you like 70-80% there.
This guitar is easily the most comfortable I've ever played. It's very balanced in tone and super light to play while standing. The frets are jumbo (to me) but very easy to run single note lines or just rhythm. Then there's the unique knobs and the beautiful color. Love this guitar and I feel like I've just scratched the surface.
A great guitar that’s in a category of it’s own.
I absolutely love this guitar! It's a true hybrid that has good volume for strumming around the house. This is also one of the easier to play guitars that I own (electric and acoustic).
The T5Z Pro plays like an electric, has the comfortable bridge of an acoustic, an arm rest contour, and a wonderfully light weight. I was surprised that Taylor only has one plugged in "acoustic" sound in the selector, but it's a good one. The hollow-body electric sounds are very good.
As this guitar isn't truly an acoustic guitar in the traditional sense, I think it's in its own category. It's my favorite guitar to pick up to strum around the house. Apparently it's loud enough so that my wife tells me to stop playing when she's nearby on the phone…
I haven't had a chance to take it out of the house yet, so I can't comment on this being a viable replacement for acoustic gigs. If you're expecting to replace your D28 with it, you'll be sorely disappointed. This guitar has it's own sound.
