Magnatone Super Fifteen 1x12" 15-watt Tube Combo Amp Reviews
Any player who's seeking big tube tone from a club-sized combo is sure to go starry-eyed over the Magnatone Super Fifteen MKII. From gigging to recording, from chime to dime, this amp whispers and screams with golden-era British authority. Its 12AX7 and EL84 tube complement take you from full-bodied cleans to brawny British crunch and beyond with the twist of a dial. But don't let the Super Fifteen's handbuilt quality and time-honoring architecture lead you to believe it's a clone; this amp is packed with modern player features, including a tube-safe speaker-emulated output for silent recording and practice and high- and low-gain inputs to favor all tastes and pickups. A 12-inch custom ceramic-magnet speaker supplies enough output to fill a room; for larger venues, an extension speaker output is also available around back.

Nothing Small About this Amp!
Pleanty of volume to cover a drummer. All the sound quality of my bigger amp. This amp is PERFECT for band practice (when it I really don't want the work of moving my full size rig). Well worth the investment. This thing really rocks!
Awesome amp.
Perfect tone. Fit and finish is top notch and it looks awesome all lit up when powered up. Everything you'd expect and more in this price range
Magnatone Super 15 combo
So far I love this amp. It has a very unique tone. Depending on your taste, it may or may not appeal to you. To me it sounds awesome and it works great for using the guitar's volume knob for increasing and decreasing the gain. The master volume is also excellent; I think it sounds basically the same at any volume. Of course, it sounds great loud, too, and has plenty of natural overdrive if you want it, as it should!
Wonderful
Great amp. Crank it and you"ll throw away all your overdrive pedals. For such a small amp it definitely delivers.
Small Amp - Big Sound
This is my second Magnatone purchase and I'll never get tired of buying these amps. They are extremely great and worth every penny of the price. I bought this little guy for smaller gigs that require great sound at lower volumes. It works great. I love the gain knob on this series, I crank it up and just use the volume knob on my guitar to go from crispy clean to rockin' solos. Together, I use the twilighter for cleans and it's vibrato effects and this for solos and other things that require that nifty crunch. Nothing gets lost, the notes are so clear and crisp, it has that same Magnatone clarity that the twilighter does. So for smaller gigs, this little guy is a champ. Another nice feature is that it's easy on the back, it's lighter than it looks. It's all around an awesome amp that I would recommend to anyone.
Magnatone Super 15
Amazing Amp! Always wanted a Magnatone Amo and now I have one with a Marshall Flavor to boot. True hand wired goodness. Great service from the folks at Sweetwater.
This amp has the MOJO
Big fat tone for a smaller amp. This amp will take you from sweet, sparkling tones to aggressive overdriven sounds and the master volume lets you do it at a reasonable level. The effects loop works great, I tried it with a digital echo and it sounds excellent. It's a classy looking amp and it's obvious that a lot of attention was paid to detail in designing this amp. Really sweet!
Kudos to Sweetwater's Dontae Harris too for his assistance in my recent purchases. I work in a customer service job and I can say that Sweetwater's customer service is top notch. I really see no reason to purchase equipment anywhere else. Not only that, but they stand by their products and will address any issues you might have.
Reliability
I bought my 15 watt Magnatone through Sweetwater and I loved it,, at first. The STANDBY switch went out which I needed to return it and wait for the repairs. Then, ponce while playing I stepped on my cord and it pulled out the inputs,, both of them. I know that was my mistake BUT, the inputs were not solid. They were pretty flimsy for a $ amp.
The sound was awesome!! IS awesome I should say but I have had my issues with it. I have since bought a Fender for my standby amp and I use it more often now. BUT, the Magnatone has a very distinct sound. GREAT!!
I really wanted to like this amp...
Bought a Super Fifteen as a demo. When Fedex arrived, as I took the box in my hands, I heard a loud thud, like a loose foot pedal ( there is none with the Fifteen). Upon taking the amp out of the box, I saw THE MAGNET HAD DETACHED FROM THE SPEAKER CONE, and was rolling around loose. As I tried to lift it, it reattached itself to the speaker by the strong magnetic force. Since it had no other visible means of attachment, I proceeded to warm up the amp. It would never come up to any level above a whisper (with noise), regardless of settings. I reached out to Magnatone support (as with many companies these days, they had no phone number, just email). This was their response: "Sorry to hear you had a problem with the Super 15. I can assure you the magnet coming off the speaker is extremely rare. In our eight years, we have never seen this happen before. The amp must have really taken a serious hit in shipping. I wouldn't let that discourage you from trying the Super 15.". I found this response rather tepid for a company looking to increase market awareness of a boutique brand. For an amp costing thousands, upon inspection, there was not much going on inside. It is very beautiful, I would buy it as an art object rather than a playing amp. I canceled my order for a Starliter, won't be looking at Magnatone again...
**NOTE:
My Sweetwater people always have my back, so I had no worries. Sent the amp back, no problems.
