Fender VG Stratocaster - 3-Color Sunburst Reviews

American Series Strat with Roland GK Pickup, 37 Guitar Models, and Five Alternate Tunings - 3-color Sunburst

Wouldn't it be nice to flip a switch on a Stratocaster and, all of a sudden, be in an alternate tuning? Wouldn't it be nice to turn a knob on its pickguard and suddenly have a clear acoustic guitar sound, the roar of a humbucking pickup, the signature snap of a Telecaster, or the lush fullness of a 12-string? It's all possible with the remarkable Fender VG Stratocaster!

VG Strat review

By Mark L. from Laguna Hills, CA
Music Background: Musician

I have owned this guitar for over a year. Previously played and ES335 vintage in my band and decided the value of that guitar was too high to chance in gigs. Was a bit wary going from Gibson to Fender due to the increased length of the fret board. Bought my Fender new Black/white body and Rose neck. It came from the factory not well set up. Lost tuning during gigs. I had Guitar center do a tweak on the set up, they did for free (not bad!). From that point on, this guitar is a dream to play. Sound is authentic. I love the Strat and Telecaster reproductions the best. Truly classic and I have owned a Tele in the past so I know the differnce. The twelve string effect is extremely close to the real twelve string sound, not quite as edgey as you get with a true electric twelve string. the acoustic sound is one of the best switches on the instrument. I have literly shocked the audience by switching from electric crushing notes to a soft melodic acoustic change. The acoustic dial is at the end of the sequence so it is easy to spin the dial in the middle of a song. Note: this guitar will eat batteries in a gig. I always replace with 4 new Duracells and it will play a straight 6 hour gig w/o a problem, but I never leave the batteries in the guitar over night as they will eventually drain. THis is a minor inconvenience of loading the batteries each time I pick it up, but the electronics in it make up for the trouble. If the batteries do drain in the middle of a gig, the guitar reverts to a strat sound and will continue to play so it has a failsafe for performances. Aside from the cool instrumentation variety, the playability of the guitar....thin neck, soft feel of the frets, tonal accuracy make this the reason I only play this guitar in gigs and for recording. In 40 years this guitar will be worth a mint, just like my Gibson.
