Glad I got it here!

Needed an inexpensive Strat to try a few modifications on after watching a documentary about Robin Trower.. this fits the bill nicely, and is currently working perfectly~ Big awesome thank you to Johnathan Casarow for helping me with my loony project ideas!

Worth the $$

By Damon P. from Wilmington, DE

Great guitar for beginner or to upgrade or modify which is my intention with mine. I received the guitar in record time. While there were problems with the 15th fret - it was too low causing dead notes, Sweetwater offered to cover any cost of repairs up to $. I could have had it replaced but I really like the little guy. The pink finish is really pink. Bubblegum, or Barbie-pink. There are some noticeable minute scratches in the finish, it's nothing worse than most any new guitar might have. I really like the neck. It is not quite a satin finish but it's not at all overly glossy or sticky. Same with the fingerboard. Not very glossy but not completely flat. The frets were decent, but I did some work on the ends and polished them up nicely. Also filed the nut slots a bit to lower the action and the guitar plays very well! It is strikingly light. Feels like a toy when compared to my American Pro 2 Strat, but in a good way. Feels very well built so I'm not afraid to wail on it. The humbucker bridge pickup, to me, sounds pretty darn good for a guitar at this price point. My high rating of this guitar is based on the cost vs quality. It's no American Vintage or anything so grand. But for the money it can't be beat. Especially given Sweetwater's level of support. ♪ ♫ ♪

Worth the $$

By Damon P. from Wilmington, DE

For the money, this is a 4-star rating. Excellent little guitar. Nice satin neck and fingerboard. It's not the thick poly. It came quickly and the Sweetwater team have been as good as the hype in taking care of me with this purchase. There was some grounding issue causing a popping noise when you touched the strings or any metal on the guitar. Sweetwater would have exchanged it, but I really like the thing so they cover any repairs needed up to $, the cost of the guitar. There is also one low spot on the 15th fret that's really maddening and I don't know yet what to do. A relevel of the fretboard would be silly and I don't know about replacing a fret on this inexpensive neck without damaging it. If not for that, this is a 5-star guitar for the money. Great for beginners, or intermediate players who want that Humbucker crunchiness. I plan to trick mine out. It's a great platform for upgrades. Its light, thinner body is already routed for another Humbucker and a single coil. It IS light. Much thinner than a Fender or even other Squires in the Classic Vibe range but sounds and feels great! ♪

Really nice guitar for the price

By jake b. from Bixby, OK

I bought this strat to customize and I was surprised at how nice it was out of the box. Finish is really good. Playability really good. Neck had a few sharp frets but easy fix. I made a few minor cosmetic upgrades and, in my opinion, it's a steal for under $. Thinking about buying another just to customize. Really pleased with this purchase.

Sweet guitar

I've never been much of a fan of Squier guitars but I really like this . It's nicely weighted and the neck feels good . I haven't had it for about a week since I'm switching out everything on the guitar aside from the body and neck by a local guitar tech . A couple more days and I'll have it again lol .

love this guitar !! It definitely plays and sounds way better than its price point. IMO it is two small/easy mods away from being a road/gigging warrior.

sexy beast!

By sequential t. from Midwest US

To be clear, this is a five-star guitar *at this price point*; if it had cost significantly more that rating would be harder to justify. But for two bills? Fuggeddaboutit! This thing rips. Bought it on a lark and thought I would probably regret it: it's cheap to purchase, the color is weird (and weirdly compelling, looks awesome IRL) and I'm not usually into strats. But, turns out it exceeds expectations in every way. Nothing to regret, I'm exceptionally pleased with it.

There's a lot to like here. It's super lightweight (six pounds flat!) and very comfortable, the neck shape is great, the bridge is nice, the single pickup vibe rocks and it sounds good. The light, thin body is a treat and I really like what Squier is doing with the necks on these Sonics; it has an extremely thin coat of urethane sealant and that's it, it almost feels unfinished. Very slick and fast, and easily preferable to the thick gloss necks on other Squiers IMO. And just generally, as a total package this hardtail Stratocaster is super cool and fun and highly addictive to play.

Finish is very good but not flawless (close, though). Tuners are predictably mediocre but so far they work. Pots are Korean Alpha minis (good) but they're a touch scratchy. And as with any guitar and especially budget guitars, it arrived in need of a set up. In this case, it was in desperate need. But it took it very well and I was able to give it a very low action without doing any work. Frets are well leveled and especially the ends are shockingly well dressed. Nut is cut correctly. The guitar is imminently playable with nothing more than a set up. People, don't expect guitars to arrive set up! It's obvious that so many negative guitar reviews result from buyers expecting the guitar to magically come out of the box just to their taste. It doesn't work like that. It doesn't even really make sense for manufacturers to try to do a set up at all, and with instruments this inexpensive they don't seem to. So don't panic if it seems wonky at first blush, it probably just needs to have a couple basic moves made on it. This is a great guitar with a few minor tweaks. It could be a perfect guitar with some slightly bigger tweaks and a few upgrades.

Speaking of: this strat can be almost anything you want it to be. The cavity is routed for three humbuckers (but it's not a swimming pool rout, interestingly) and the control cavity is huge. You could put three pickups and all the switches and pots in the world in this thing, the sky is the limit.

Finally, top experience buying from Sweetwater, cheers amigos!

The first thing I did when I got this was to check the frets. Wow perfect! LOADS better than the old Bullet line. For $ this is a no brainer. And it's cute!
