Fender Custom Shop Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic - Aged Black Reviews

From its quartersawn roasted maple neck to its Dual-Mag pickups and custom wiring, the Fender Custom Shop Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic surpasses all expectations for how a Strat should look, feel, and sound. One of a very limited edition, the guitar wears a relic finish that makes it look a half-century old, but it sports a supremely playable '60s-style "Oval C" neck profile and AAA-grade rosewood fingerboard with a modern 9.5"–12" compound-radius and Jescar FW57110 jumbo frets. Other features include a Master Greasebucket tone control, Strat Blender circuit, bone nut, vintage-style tuning machines, and a 3-ply black pickguard. In short, the Fender Custom Shop Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic sings with the best of them, with undeniably alluring looks.

Extremely impressive Strat! Tone and feel for days

By Daniel from Littleton, CO on August 16, 2020 Music Background: Trio cover band guitarist & vocalist

I am very impressed with this guitar! This is not the first Custom Shop I've played, but it is the first I've owned. It is a really great case-in-point example of how investing in a Custom Shop Strat can be very, very worth it. The feel, playability, tone, resonance, and look of this guitar are just fantastic. I can't put it down!! It sounds amazing through everything I play it through. My only one wish is that it had 22 frets. But hey, you can't have it all. I might look into a GT11 next.

Perfect

By Sweetwater Customer on June 13, 2019

Well, I will start out by saying I'm not good enough to be playing this guitar. But I love it. It is amazing. It's PERFECT. Thanks Sweetwater for all your help. Your staff is great. And a special thank you to Greg Baum for your expertise and help on getting this guitar.

Best guitar I’ve ever played

By Brad Lebakken from Pittsburgh on September 14, 2018 Music Background: Pro musician

I"ve owned many guitars in my 23 years of playing guitar and this is hands down the best. The neck feels great and makes the guitar addictive to play. The pick ups and roasted wood give a super tight solid sound with tight lows and singing highs. The Strat sounds perfect. The blend knob and greasebucket tone knob give you so many sound options making this versatile for almost any style of music. I had Sweetwater put black pickup covers, black tone knobs and a black pick up selector on which gives it a sharp look. Blacked out guitars go with just about anything I wear onstage. The case it comes with is beautiful and high quality. It also came with some extras I wasn"t expecting like a high quality black leather strap, and ......... well I"ll let you be surprised.

Steady as a Rock

By Mark Bisson from Easton, CT on June 7, 2021 Music Background: extensive

Stays in tune; intonation perfect. Excellent balance across the strings from the sixth to the first. Chord strikes are tight and even. Possibly the roasted wood and quarter sawn neck are major contributors. Great tones and sensitive controls. Easy to soften any harshness when cranking. Action's a little higher than I'd like. The relic finish is something I could do without, but the upside is that another bump here or there won't hurt much. Also, I'm a big fan of the jumbo frets and high quality rosewood. Thanks to Carson McClain for his help to acquire this fine guitar.
