Squier Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster - Candy Apple Red Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Nato Body, Maple Neck, Indian Laurel Fingerboard, and 3 Single-coil Pickups - Candy Apple Red

An affordable homage to one of the most iconic electric guitars of the past 50 years, the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s sports updated modern features combined with vintage-inspired appointments. The result is the sound that made the Strat a stage and studio staple for generations. With three alnico single-coil Strat pickups and essential 5-way switching, you get thick, warm Strat tone. At Sweetwater, we're particularly stoked about the addition of a bone nut to the classic C-shaped maple neck and 9.5"-radius fingerboard — something we don't normally find on such an affordable guitar. Add to that a Vintage-Style Synchronized Trem, and the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s is an amazing deal.

Wow!

By Robert Backus from Lynn Haven, FL on August 24, 2022 Music Background: learning guitar in retirement - because it’s fun

I was in the market for my first electric guitar (for my 66th birthday) and a friend recommended both the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster and Sweetwater. After checking out a local music store's only Classic Vibe 60s (where the price was $50 more), and based on my friends positive comments about quality and customer service, I decided to order from Sweetwater. Four days later my guitar arrived. It was obvious that Sweetwater wants your guitar to arrive undamaged - it was very well packaged. Out of the box the guitar was absolutely beautiful, in perfect condition and perfectly in tune. I am really enjoying it. Adam called me after the guitar was inspected and shipped, which I really appreciated. I've bought a lot of things on line, but was hesitant to purchase a guitar on line, however this experience could not have been better. Thank you, Sweetwater!

Couldn't ask for more

For a reasonably cheap guitar it came ready to play and sounds great, was able to achieve the tones I wanted no problem. Customer service with Sweetwater is fantastic and my Sales expert Tyler Moore was very helpful. Sweetwater rocks. Oh and the red looks much better in person.

Awesome!!

Great guitar for the money! Plays better than my American made strat! For the price you can't go wrong!!

Really dig this guitar

By Brendon on June 11, 2020 Music Background: I dabble

I recently purchased this guitar, and I have really been enjoying it. Keep in mind I'm not a professional of any kind, but this guitar does everything I need it to, especially at the price. I've had several guitars in my life, and this one is already a favorite. It's just got that classic strat sound. The Sweetwater sales team are always on top of things. I got a phone call literally less than a couple minutes after sending an email asking a question. Overall very happy with the purchase.

Squire Classic Vibe 60s car 2021

By Allan Abate from East Haven, CT on July 5, 2022

Very nice guitar, Well crafted.
Car version. fret ends-Perfect
I always heard the glossy neck is sticky-Its not
-Very smooth.
Guitar came with decked tremolo. I Floated and set the guitar up.

Pickups. Very bright. But I like that for this guitar. Plan to use it for my sparkling clean strat tones.

Fret level- 10th fret on the right side is little high-will level myself otherwise all other frets are good. no rocking.

The profile on Sweetwater listed it as 6 pounds 9 oz. That is one reason I choose this one out of the four listed. On my scale it is 7.07 :( quite a difference of about 8 oz.
I also chose this one because of the beautiful grain on the laurel wood. Some are not so good looking.

Classic style, classic sound

First of all, I must admit I have way too many guitars. But they're like people, much the same yet unique to one another. I needed a stock strat and was torn between the 3 tone sunburst and the candy apple red. Both are classics but when I think of good old rock n roll, I think red. Then, when I went to make my purchase someone swooped in and snagged my guitar. Thankfully, I had a plan B and the rest is history.

The guitar came triple boxed. Never had that before but am grateful. Thank you Sweetwater!

I'm very pleased with the set up. I hate intonating a guitar and was happy not only with that but also the action. No fret buzz at all; sounds and feels great. Having had the fiesta red classic vibe, I much prefer this one. Was thinking about throwing a mint guard on it but the parchment looks pretty sweet so I'm not so sure I will. The pictures do not do this guitar justice. It is much nicer in person. I'm glad I went with this color. I could just as easily gone with a nice stock tele.

It plays like you'd expect a strat to play. It's warm at the neck and a bit snappier at the bridge. I've played everything on it today from early 80s country and 80s rock to 90s alternative. It sounds fantastic!

My only complaint is the nut. The last couple of classic vibes I purchased have a small, cheap looking nut. In fact, it looks exactly like the nut on my old Squier bullets. Not what I expect from the higher end Squiers but it's an easy mod to make should I decide.

This is, by no means, my favorite guitar in my collection. Still, it is awesome. It looks and plays beautifully. It was everything I was looking for so don't be afraid to get one for yourself. I think you'll enjoy it for years to come as I plan to do.

Thank you, Drew Foster. You have always been there to help me with my purchases and answer all my questions. You and your assistant (Tammie) do a wonderful job!!!

all I expected. Initially unhappy that I had to settle for this color because sonic blue was not available. Happy with the service and assistance from Bryan Leo. Will buy again from Sweetwater. Probably will go with a Telecster style next.

Excellent Value

First off, a shout-out to Reid Bright: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Attaboy....Way to go....Reid!

The website pictures do not do this color justice. Beautiful candy-apple red, combined with a parchment pickguard and dark Indian Laurel fretboad screams vintage. Love the dot inlays.

The electronics are good at this price point. Pups are fine, maybe flip the pots and caps later. Tone control on the bridge is a nice touch.

Fretwork is superb, nut is cut and installed well. Weight is perfect.

I will replace the machine heads with Gotoh locking vintage oval buttons.

This is my second Squier CV purchased from Reid/Sweetwater.

I wanted it to be great

By Mark from Kennedale TX on May 13, 2020 Music Background: Semi-Professional

Sweetwater does their best and it is very good. I had a CV years ago when they first started making them. It played great. I sold it for something else. I thought I would get a good strat for a great price...well...the first was a demo, it buzzed through the amp terribly and when I looked for the issue I noticed that part of the paint on the inside was pulled off like in a layer and the ground screw to the wood was not on the shielded part. Also the string alignment was way off. I sent it back for a refund but thought I would give it another shot and the next one would be better. Well...While it doesn't buzz and the pickups actually sound good, it just didn't play well. Not sure if the frets were not leveled well but it just felt like a cheap guitar. I'm sure that most are not like this but...this is my experience. My sales engineer (bless his heart, i'm a pain in the rear and I know it) has been more than accommodating, it isn't his fault but it just isn't doing it for me. We never know if we like something until we play it for awhile but sometimes you know right away. Thanks Sweetwater for your quality of service but the CV Strat is off my list. I've been playing for 43 yrs...and have grown accustomed to very nice guitars (my others are PRS Custom 24, EVH USA Hardtail, Ernie Ball Axis) and I may have been expecting too much from a budget guitar.
