Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster - 2-Color Sunburst Reviews
Celebrate the first decade of the Fender Stratocaster, with the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s. This vintage-style solidbody electric guitar offers the sound and style that made the Strat the iconic instrument that it is today. The updated Squier Classic Vibe model features many cool revisions that make it a better value than ever. The Squier Classic Vibe includes a trio of Fender-designed alnico single-coil pickups (including standard 5-way switching) that really capture the traditional Stratocaster sound. At Sweetwater, we're particularly impressed by the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s' 1.65" bone nut — an exceptional addition to the classic C-shaped neck and 9.5"-radius fretboard, which provides the kind of sustain and performance you don't typically find on a budget-friendly guitar.

Man.. she’s perfect
She was ready to play out the box. Sounds amazing. Sweetwater always gets it right
Modder
I originally bought this as a starting point, inexpensive body with the look I wanted and then strip everything out and replace. Plugged it in the day it arrived and I have not changed a thing. It goes from crystal clear to light blues to SRV to Iron Maiden with a few knob tweaks. Sounds a thousand times better than expected.
Bang for buck and more!
Yep, this Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster is everything you've heard and more. First and most importantly, I would like to thank Jay Dyer, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, for being an awesome person to get help and advice from. He walked me through the process to get the guitar I wanted - forever. He is the best. Also, a big thank you to Sweetwater for the company they built to serve the music community.
The guitar: Cool and lovely mojo abounds in this Squier Strat! All the details you would look for in a 50s style Strat are there. It came set up great and played oh so good out of the box. Of course I did a few of my own tweeks to set up - that is a personal thing. Love the neck, feel, playability and sound from the pickups and electronics. And the guitar is beautiful to look at. The price is way lower than the quality of this guitar. Cheers to Fender and the factory that created it. Thanks again, Jay Dyer and Sweetwater.
Beautiful
Check the specs to get the pertinent info. The specs are spot on. Workmanship/ playability/sound is great. Next best thing to the real deal. This is as close to a '54 Strat as I'll get in my lifetime!
Another fantastic Squier CV
First, BIG shout-out to SW's 55 pt inspection team! They're a huge reason I keep coming back. Never a worry when I place an order. Now, onto the guitar:
It's great. Professional build quality. Awesome neck and finish. Components are sound and sturdy. In paying homage to the real-deal 50's Stratocaster, Squier nailed it.
Awesome stratocaster for the money
The one I received is fantastic. I`ll start with the tuners, tight with zero slippage, nut cut perfectly, frets level,(needed cleaning)no sprout, neck feels great, pickups sound nice, volume/tone knobs and 5 way selector are smooth and sturdy, The guitar setup out of the box was quite good and playable. I set up to my specs, floated the trem and the guitar is a joy to play with great tuning stability.
The one minor fault was the input jack nut was loose, tightened, and the input jack was so tight I could barely pull the cord out. I ended up removing the jack plate screws and input jack so I could bend back and open the part that holds the cord jack in place. It only took me 5 minutes to fix.
I highly recommend this stratocaster, especially at this very affordable price.
Even with the input jack issue I still give it 5 stars.
Great instrument
I bought this guitar back in 2008 the first year they were made, and was delighted with it then & still now. Perfect in every way ,almost plays itself .
Amazing guitar
This guitar is by far one of the best strats you can get under $. The pickups have an amazing vintage tone to them while also being versatile, the neck has a really nice look and feel to it with no sharp frets, and the finish is even more stunning in person. The only problem I have is the tremolo and tuners could be better, but they work good enough as long as you don't go too crazy. Overall I give this a 10/10
2 tone Awesomeness
I was pretty torn between the 2 tone and 3 tone sunburst but I LOVE playing the maple necks so much I went with this one.
It arrived in good physical condition but I had to lower the action, add some relief to the neck, and adjust the intonation on 3 of the strings. Although it didn't take long, I don't like dealing with that. I prefer to have it ready to go out the box. It now feels and plays great.
I kind of feel like because this particular model is not as in demand as say the lake placid blue one that it doesn't get the attention it should before being shipped out. You may have to tweak it some or have someone set it up for you.
My ONLY issue is with their delivery service. This guitar requires a signature at delivery. My delivery person left it right in front of my house without ever making contact. I was not home. He then marked that I had signed for the guitar but interestingly misspelled my name. That makes me feel insecure about making a future purchase. Not Sweetwater's fault but should be noted.
Overall, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this purchase and Sweetwater always offers the best customer experience hands down- thanks again Drew Foster.
The positive reviews are true!!!
I usually don`t write reviews but I had to for this guitar. After reading a ton of reviews regarding the Squire Classic Vibe 50s and owning a 2018 MiM Stratocaster I was on the verge of buying another MiM due to selling the one I had. I never was really disappointed with the MiM but to me it just lacked that hardcore Fender Strat tone I was looking for. Don`t get me wrong, it did have good tone but it wasn`t great tone (vintage tone). I could afford to buy an American Stratocaster but I could not see spending that kind of money when I am not a professional player. What I did learn from studying up on the Squire 50s is that it has the Alnico pickups instead of the Ceramic pickups like the MiM which is a huge plus. In addition, the tone wood (body) which is pine on the 50s Classic Vibe is the tone wood (body) that they used on some of the earlier Stratocasters. After I had read several of the reviews I rolled the dice and bought me one from Sweetwater. I got the guitar and was really surprised on how well it was set up right out of the box (Thank you Sweetwater). I didn`t have to do anything to it, action was spot on (low) and guitar was in tune. I looked the guitar over and the finish was flawless. I had a good sit down with the guitar on both a Fender tube and a Peavey SS amp and I have to say, I am very very happy with the purchase that I made. The guitar does have that sweet Fender tone that I was looking for. It`s better than MiM tone that I was getting by a good margin (MiM more for playing modern stuff). If you want to take the guitar just a bit further, you can replace the tremolo bridge with a MiM tremolo as an upgrade and you will have guitar that sounds really really close to an American Fender without the large price tag that comes with it. If your looking for a super good guitar, well made, plays fantastic and oozes Fender tone, you can`t go wrong here. Worth every dime and then some. Don`t let that Squire name stop you, you will be rewarded very nicely. Oh, and a shout out to Joe Perrone from Sweetwater, thank you Joe :)
Squire classic vibe 50s
I bought this prob a year ago just now reviewing it. Everything was fine for quite some time except for the low eve buzz. I tried to do anything I could to adjust and fix that I just was unsuccessful I was upset by the volume pot breaking up constantly. I play it daily. It's great then If you hit your hand on the pot knob it starts going wacko
Good value & price.
The quality is as good or better than the MIM strats. The only thing I would change is the tuners.
hoped for a little better
this guitar seemed perfect, i found very few people who had anything bad to say about any classic vibe series guitars. I started with the cheapest Squier strat available basically, when I got my 50s classic vibe I was really impressed with the feel and still am. unfortunately i do have some issues with it, the biggest being its ability to stay in tune. tuners feel nice, except the high e which is a noticeable amount stiffer than the rest. i believe the problem comes from the bridge. since the strings have a lot of space to move on each saddle, bending and using the tremolo bar moves them to a new spot putting it out of tune. The neck most definitely isn't a fender neck but still feels really nice. the body is also the full width of a real strat unlike most other squiers and much heavier than cheaper moddels. all that being said I really enjoy this guitar and is a world of an upgrade compared to my bullet strat.
