Squier Paranormal Custom Nashville Stratocaster Electric Guitar - Aztec Gold Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Poplar Body, Maple Neck, Laurel Fingerboard, and 3 Single-coil Pickups - Aztec Gold

The Squier Paranormal Custom Nashville Stratocaster is unlike any instrument you've seen — or played — before. This unique-looking electric guitar is built around a double-bound, Strat-like poplar body, with a hand-filling "C"-shaped maple neck and a slick-playing, 21-fret laurel fingerboard. You get three alnico-loaded, single-coil pickups, in a typical Nashville Tele configuration, arming you with a veritable greatest-hits package of Fender-style tones. Moreover, 5-way switching supplies access to all the requisite "in between" settings, while a push-pull tone knob engages the neck pickup in positions one and two. Whatever your application, the Paranormal Custom Nashville Strat can deliver the right tone for the job. This attention-grabbing mashup also includes a 3-ply parchment Tele-style pickguard, vintage-style tuners, a reversed Tele control plate, and a 3-saddle strings-through-body Tele bridge. Players searching for one guitar that's a jack of all tones will be absolutely delighted by the Squier Paranormal Custom Nashville Stratocaster.

Paranormal Nashville strat

By Jason from Dallas on February 26, 2024 Music Background: 20+ year player former salesman

I can't say enough about this guitar, I thought I was going to have to change the neck but once I got it in hand it is fantastic it plays great pickups are good, that's the only thing I may mod later down the road. But, as it sits it is a great guitar and highly recommend not only for the color but the fit and finish of the paranormal series is superb.

Bargain Versatile Guitar

By Dave C from New Jersey on September 19, 2023 Music Background: a reformed bass player

I just received this guitar and can't put it down. Not only did it arrive two days earlier than promised, the fit and finish out of the box was incredible. I expected a guitar at this price point to need some set up work. I was wrong. The guitar arrived perfectly intonated, and the action was great (it was also in tune, which I thought was funny).
The reverse control plate makes pickup selection much easier than on a typical Tele and puts the volume knob in the perfect position for swells. The third Strat-style pickup allows for a completely different set of tones than a typical Tele and the push-pull knob gives more body to positions 4 and 5.
My only negative critiques are the lack of sweep in the tone knob and the middle pick up mounts. The tone knob is practical an on/off switch. I can make adjustments via my amp and EQ pedal, so this is not a big deal. The mounts for the middle pick up seem weak and the middle pick up easily rocks back and forth when touched. Since I don't plan on touching this while I play, this too is not a deal breaker.
I don't know of another double-bound single coil guitar that is a better value than this one.

Excellent Value for a Unique Model

By Jared on June 27, 2023 Music Background: Hobbyist with Gigging and Recording Experience

I was really excited to see this model introduced, as I'm a big fan of Nashville Teles and was wishing there were more Strat hybrid models readily available. The guitar feels very solid, especially considering the price. I have a MIM Fender Nashville Tele that I used as a comparison to this, and it definitely holds its own against it despite being a couple hundred bucks cheaper. Comparable fit/finish and playability (both were bought through Sweetwater so both got the inspection and setup). The pickups sound a good bit brighter than the Fender, albeit almost tinny in certain positions and EQ's. The push/pull gives you even more options and is a very welcome feature. Tuners and hardware are decent but could easily be upgraded. It's very fun to play and would be usable in most scenarios as-is, but this will likely become a modding platform for me to make it even better. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a something to get you both Strat and Tele sounds but prefer the Strat shape. Love to see Squier putting out some higher quality models at good prices as well as more unique lines like the Paranormal series.

Buy one from Sweetwater

By Sweetwater Customer from FL on July 27, 2023

I bought this guitar from another online seller, it was never looked at prior to shipping. The truss rod was loose as was the tone knob. Sweetwater would have caught that. Great guitar after the repairs.
