Fender American Ultra Stratocaster - Ultraburst with Rosewood Fingerboard Reviews
Introducing the Fender American Ultra Stratocaster: Fender's high-performance iteration of the modern Stratocaster. It offers several upgrades over traditional designs, including Fender's latest Ultra Noiseless Vintage Strat pickups, a 10"–14" compound radius fingerboard on an effortless Modern "D" neck, and S-1 switching to roll in fat neck tones on pickup positions 1 and 2. Even if you're a traditionally bent player, don't be dismayed: the American Ultra Stratocaster is a Strat through and through. Its lightweight body is built from traditional Strat tonewoods (alder or ash, dependent on color) and outfitted with a flawless gloss poly finish and coordinating pickguard. Sealed locking tuners and a 2-point Deluxe Synchronised Trem with pop-in arm equip today's players for classic Strat colorization with demanding modern intonation. One feature all our reviewers were quick to note is the tapered low-profile neck heel, which gives you access to fret positions you'd never dare into on your vintage Strat. The whole instrument has been thought out and designed in painstaking detail, all the way down to the embossed Fender headstock logo and extra comfortable trem arm.

What a Great Guitar this is!!!!!
Start with tone… I removed the silly light gauge strings and installed my choice Heavy Bottom, Skinny top ( I knew a girl like that once….)
Anyway the feel of this guitar is so natural!!!
Tones are ear candy in any of the pick up selections!!! Great work Fender!!!! Thank you for the subtil modifications, the body shape, the contoured heel for upper fret access!!! The neck is smooth and buttery! The fretwork is excellent! What a joy it is to play this guitar! The ingenious touch of being able to incorporate the neck pick up with the bridge is awesome! But to be honest, I'm traditional and I hardly use that. The bridge pick up sounds awesome just the way it is.!!!! Sounds great into my,Tone King imperial, as well as my Fender Delux Reverb Reissue. I can play this guitar clean all day, long into these amplifiers. What a treasure! Great work!
Pedals I would recommend…
Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtainium
King Tone Duellist
Pedal Pawn Gypsy Vibe
Neo Ventilator
Jam Pedals Ripply Falls

Second to NONE...
This guitar in the absolute cure for cancer, COVID-19, and maybe AIDS. My only complaint is why did fender took so long to come up with this masterpiece? I'm glad that it's not in line with the Fender Masters Builders Model, otherwise, I'd still buy it, even if cost an arm and a leg. The tone, playability, ergonomics, and most of all... my overall connection with this guitar; is an absolute magical. Thanks to the SWEETWATER TEAM for the 55 points inspections- Trust me, they are ON POINT without a doubt.
Fantastic guitar, incredibly well made
This is my 2nd Fender American Ultra Stratocaster, and it is really just an outstanding guitar. The build quality and fit-and-finish are perfect. If I have 1 complaint it is that this particular guitar is a bit heavier than my other Ultra. But overall, I would highly recommend the Ultra (or American Professional if you wanted a somewhat less costly option).
True Strat.
Best production Stratocaster in a long time. The 5th Gen vintage pickups are the best sounding noiseless yet. Neck, finish and everything else are flawless. Just buy it. I bought two. Cobra blue with a maple neck and this ultraburst with a rosewood fretboard. That's how much I like them. Also both from Sweetwater. The best place to buy online.
Ultra Amazing
The neck on this Strat is absolutely perfect. I really believed my "89" Strat plus deluxe was as good as it got until I played this Ultra. Really appreciate the way Sweetwater has taken care of me on every one of my purchases. Strongly recommend this guitar and Sweetwater!
AWESOME GUITAR
Thank you to Kurt and your wonderful employees. After I got through drooling over it and put NYXL 10-46 strings on it, I was impressed with the ease of play. The 10 - 14 inch radius on the neck is very enjoyable. THE Ultra burst color is beautiful and the tones I'm getting out of it so far are the best bluesy tones I've gotten out of a Strat yet and is very satisfying.
This baby Strat was delivered and weighed 8lb 10oz.
THANKS AGAIN.
Just what the doctor ordered
Only been playing a year but wanted something to go with my LGXSA which has dual humbuckers. Figured a Strat would be the perfect compliment and it has turned out to be so.
Love the neck and the body contours. Easy to play, slippery smooth and fast.
Put a set of 10 - 46 strings on her and tightened the input jack which was loose and been having fun ever since.
The neck of this guitar is perfect
Wanted to own a Fender in sunburst finish with a rosewood neck for quite some time. Finally I pulled the trigger and boy, I am glad I did ! Adam Szmurlo helped me pick one with a very dark and uniform rosewood fingerboard (the way I like it - many thanks Adam !!!) and it is an awesome guitar indeed. The neck profile is unbelievable, very, very comfortable to play. Not too thin, not too thick - just perfect. The rosewood quality is excellent and the Ultra Satin finish on the back of the neck is slick and not getting sticky. They weight is right and finish is flawless.
The reason I took half a star from its rating is the pickups. They reduce the noise level indeed, and if you only listen to them, they are OK. But ... I have another Fender with **true** single coils pickups (Fender CS '69) and once I compared the sound between the two, the Ultra Noiseless Vintage pickups left me wanting. To my ears they sounded sort of "muted" in comparison, and lacked the spark, the openness, the subtlety that true single coils have. After playing the CS'69s, these noiseless felt ... rather generic. The S-1 switch didn't add tones that made me feel compelled to keep them. So I ended up swapping them with true single coils and won't go back.
