Superb

By Sweetwater Customer on February 29, 2024

This thing is beautifully put together. I've been dying for a Strat with a maple neck for years but wasn't expecting to get one with a Floyd Rose, Stainless steel frets, and this amazing finish. Huge thanks to my sales engineer Josh Trumm for the support and follow up!

Finally, the ultimate Strat

By Retired Schmuck on October 14, 2021 Music Background: Rank Amateur

It took (2021-1954) 67 years for Fender to come up with the ultimate Strat. First, Stainless Steel frets. I once fret-dressed a 40th Anniversary Strat. The frets were worn out bad. However, the fret-dressing flattened the frets to the point where it was not enjoyable to play anymore. I needed new frets so instead I just bought a new guitar. That taught me a lesson. When the frets are worn out, replace the frets or get a new guitar. The frets seems to wear out so fast and in the places of the neck where I did a lot of string-bending. What did a guy like Van Halen do? He played a lot of guitars. But the EVH Striped Series of guitars did come with SS frets. That was an important step for Fender. That was 10 years ago. Now Fender has taken a long-awaited cue from Eddie and come up with Floyd Rose as well. The EVH was one great humbucker with on volume dial labelled "Tone". The HSS Ultra Luxe has a Double-Tap feature for the humbucker. However on the Elite HSS there was a Bypass Switch feature which was pure genius. Simple but effective, hard to explain to people without them trying it. One thing I wish this Ultra Luxe had. At any rate, I think with the compound radius maple neck, alder body, this is the best Strat fender has come up with. The one one I can do without is the painted black headstock, but still classic shape. The silver burst body with the black pickguard, pickup covers is cool. Distinctive. Not to be confused with a run-of-the-mill design and the picksups are wired hot, which is my favorite option. The case, modern molded. With the stainless steel frets I can use the new Cobalt Ernie Ball strings, 9-46. The string bending is smooth without the premature fret-wear. The Floyd Rose clamped system means I can use the whammy bar to my heart's content. But the price is a premium. Custom Shop prices. I have one other similarly priced Strat made in the Custom Shop. The Acoustasonic Strat. If I want an acoustic sound, that is the way to do it, it feels and looks like a Strat. Fender makes great product. It is more than a name. Nobody else makes product like Fender. The R&D that went into the Acoustasonic Strat is miles beyond anyone else. I pay for R&D. That's okay. The Ultra Luxe is the next step in the evolution of guitar while still holding on to many of the features found on the 1954 Strat. However, that 22nd fret makes a big difference for me. Don't know why Eric Johnson doesn't want one. Anyway, play-ability is the main feature.
