Best of the best

By Peter S. from Wisconsin
Music Background: Guitar man

I've been playing since I was 13 years old, The sound of a Strat being played through a Twin Reverb is heaven sent, there's no other sound like it. In my 74 years I have enjoyed that sound over and over with a smile on my face. The Strat is the best to me. It's easy to play and beautiful to look at. Leo knew what he was doing when he created it. I'm 74 and still rocking. Peter Searls

It sounds like a strat in all the ways you want it to.

By ben b. from wonder lake, IL
Music Background: At home player, 15 years

The only thing I don't like is what a pain it is to get the pick guard plastic off.

Otherwise- it's great.

It feels natural to play, comfortable, and looks great-just like a strat should.
It's well made and feels like it- Smooth in all right places.
The color is absolutely striking- all of my guests are instantly drawn to it.

The pickup configuration gives you all of the classic tones you're looking for and the push tone knob just piles more right on top of them. Plus, the push-push knob is just one of those things that makes it extra cool and makes it feel like a premium guitar.

Price may or may not be a bit steep, but I have absolutely no regrets in adding this to my collection-it's quickly become one of my favorites.

Shout out to Timothy- Responsive, helpful, knowledgeable-he played a huge role in making sure I have full faith in Sweetwater and a lifelong customer.

Miami Blue Stratocaster with Maple Fingerboard

By Dean from Columbus OH
Music Background: Local bands

This instrument is gorgeous, and a very good value for the money. It came in with the tailpiece set really high (for the whammy bar), but after a bit of adjustment by a competent buddy, it's outstanding. I really like the push-push feature on the bridge tone pot that engages the neck pickup with the bridge pickup. It lets you have the brightness of the bridge pickup, with a little more "depth". The color is a bit darker firsthand than pictured, but it has really grown on me. Very nice attention to detail - The neck is smooth, fret ends are rounded over nicely, and the finish is really good. Love the satin finish on the back of the neck. This is my new go-to guitar. Thanks to Brandon *** at Sweetwater for his expert help!

American Professional II Stratocaster/Miami Blue

By Big D. from Richmond, Va
Music Background: Professional

WOW, WOW, & WOW

As the new flagship of Fender's American Strats, this one delivers on all points. Color is killer, plays fantastic, sounds wonderful. Paired it with an Ultra Strat that had Fralins and the Tim Shaw Mod II Vintage pups sound every bit as good , if not better. Fender really did knock this one out of the park with the 8.5 radius and smooth satin neck. The narrow /tal;l frets are now my favorite and the most requested by custom shop orders. This deep C neck cups and fits my hand perfect. The clarity of sound completely nails that glassy , sparkle strat sound that I am always after. The 2 point tremelo /whammy bar is tremendous. What else is ther to say. This strat is fantabulous. I replaced the mint grren pickguard with a bright white perloid one and it pops with style and upgrades the overall look IMOP. This strat is bigtime , get one and enjoy

Very Happy with the Pro II and BEST COLOR EVER!

By Nico

I wasn't looking for a new guitar, but I saw some pics on the Miami Blue Strat and someone explaining how in person this looks blue but kind of greenish, and that it was impossible to see the real color, I really really liked that it was like that and started to see how in reality was the color. But once it arrived OMG, this color is just so gorgeous. For some reason the miami blue with the tinted maple just works so perfect. Every time I look at it makes me feel joy and makes me want to grab the guitar.

About the guitar itself, I normally go more to vintage style Strats or Teles. I recently had an AO 60's Strat that it was very good but sold it cos saw a great opportunity of another guitar that had a great deal and knew I could grab an AO later again.

But this Pro II is like a traditional strat with modern features but not over the top, so it feels like a regular strat, and the modern things I like them actually.

The neck for me is very important, cos I dont like thin necks, and didnt like the Modern C from previous Standard series, but the Deep C I know it well cos I had a Pro years ago and a friend lent me one recently to try it, and it felt good. Really like the narrow tall frets myself. I would prefer the deep C was chunkier, but still is a nice neck and I'm ok with it, but is like as thin as I would go on a neck.

Besides that everything else I think Fender did a great job with this one. Amazing colors, love the heel joint access, the satin on the back feels awesome to play, love the frets, the fit and finish is excellent, Vmod2 seems to be a bit more vintage oriented and with a bit more character than the original vmods (although will swap them cos for strat for me I just love lollar pickups, so I knew beforehand I would swap them). But I can say Im liking them more than the Fat 50's, and like the same as the Pure Vintage 65 of the AO 60's. So good job on the vmod2.

Not much more I can say, is a very solid, very good quality guitar, feels great, like a good quality guitar (and I have owned from Suhrs, PRS, Fender CS, and this Pro II feels very good)

I'm very happy with it, enjoying it a lot, it is a guitar that has like something going on, might be my particular one or overall, but very good on the Pro II. I think it has that extra something vs the Pro.

A beauty

By Justin from Indiana
Music Background: Casually noodling since 2013

Great customer service, fast shipping (living in Indiana DOES have it's perks), and a great all around guitar. The push-push is a really nice feature. First position sounds a bit twangy like a telecaster when you have the switch activated, which gives a really nice boost to versatility. The color truly is impossible to photograph as well. It's beautiful in person.

Great service and Great guitar

By Scott C. from Lancaster, NY
Music Background: Have played in bands in my younger years but now just at home player having fun and playing for the joy of music

I was having a problem trying to cash this guitar out. For whatever reason it kept sending me in a loop at the final checkout. I emailed my rep Richie and he called me up. He gave me a good deal on the guitar, made sure I got the one I picked out of the group, and got me checked out.

The guitar arrived at the end of the week in perfect condition also with a nice giant coffee mug full of candy that my rep threw in. I use this mug everyday. Perfect size so I dont have to keep running to make another cup!

Now the guitar... I have been a Les Paul fan all my life and have a nice one that was my goto. I also own an ultra series telecaster. Since getting this guitar weeks ago it has been my goto. I love this thing. Something about this neck just makes it so easy to play anywhere on the fretboard. From cowboy chords to leads it just plays feels amazing. It is my first strat and I love it. It also sounds great. I like the pickups better than my ultra series noiseless in the telecaster. Obviously these are two different guitars and have different tones but these pickups just seem more classic Fender sound to me.

Surpassed my Expectations!!!

By Paul
Music Background: Guitarist

I've had other Stratocasters and had debated for a while on which one to purchase and made the right choice!!
The feel of the satin neck, the sound of the V-mod II pickups are fantastic.
The online photos of the Miami Blue do not do the guitar justice!

The case is well built to protect your purchase.

I took this 1 step farther and had my guitar Plek upon purchase. Every fret has a nice radius to it, and is smooth like glass. The tech did a fabulous job of filing the fret ends and setting up the guitar to my playing style.

Glad I took the plunge!!!

Bought it for the color....It's staying for everything else

By Sweetwater Customer from Florida
Music Background: hobbyist

I have a 2014 Commemorative US made strat. Fantastic instrument. Since then I've been looking far and wide for another strat which looks, plays and sounds as good. I tried them all: USA, Mexican and Classic Vibe. All of them fell short.

I read the specs and watched the reviews of this Fender Corona American Pro II. All the pieces and parts are not made in the USA, so Fender cannot stamp 'Made In The USA' on the headstock. So they use 'Corona, California.'

The neck, 9.5 with a Deep C and rolled edges, is comfortable. The tint and gloss is a great touch. The reverse is satin.
Frets are dressed, even and without fret sprout.

Pickups are a personal thing. The name V-Mod is apropos. They sound a little like the 54 vintage pups in the 2014, yet with a more modern twist. The push-push switching is an added benefit, especially when playing in the bridge position.

I never use the tremolo as I prefer to lock the bridge flush with the body, so I cannot comment on the system.

All the hardware is top-shelf. The guitar weighed in at around 8 #'s. Not too heavy. Bone nut is a nice touch.

Is the price worth it? Considering the quality of the finish, hardware and electronics, it's an instrument which should last a lifetime.

Things I would change: Possibly the machine heads. They work fine, I just like the vintage ones with the small oval buttons. The mint green pick guard is rather muted in color. I will probably change to parchment.

Shout out to Steve Gray for putting up with me.....

Vintage vs Modern C

By Jako57 from DETROIT
Music Background: 50 yr Guitarist, former session player.

I am a picky player who used to be strickly a Gibson guy :UNTIL: I discovered 62FSR Fender Stratocaster with a C shaped neck. This Pro2 is the most simular to the classic C on pre alot of pre CBS strats:The Tall /Narrow frets were the clincher: Effortlessly Bend for days. Fender Stratocaster in Susie's, this is definitely worth a look! The no stick neck feels like the custom shop necks already broken in and smooth when they're new!

Are you kidding me

By Buford B. from CHOWCHILLA, CA

Bought my first guitar in the 70's. A solid body with humbuckers. Since then i have owned many high end axes. Every guitar I've owned has been a solid body HH pickup setup. I just purchased the Fender Pro series 2. SSS.. Pulled it out of the box, Packaging was awesome. Tuned it in... Wasn't really impressed...Gave it another chance a bit latter after it settled in. Wow... Totally in love with this axe. Cant stop playing it.. Sounds so amazing and a dream to play. Haven't touched my Les Paul sense. Just get it. You'll be happy...

Great guitar

By Ray from Miami, FL

I have this guitar in Miami Blue. When I got it the floating bridge was tilted way to forward. So went out and got some new springs and adjusted the claw. If you are going to bother doing that, may as will adjust the intonation. That said the guitar rocks. The neck is straight and true. Played some Jimi tunes with it. The tone is spot on.
The guitar has two new pickup combinations. I am not going comment on them as I have not needed them yet. But they represent two more tone/gain possibilities. An that is a good thing !

Only one little issue.

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: professional

I got this Strat to replace my beloved 40+ year old Strat Elite. It's a great axe but old and delicate, like me.
This new Strat came last Thursday and after letting it acclimate a while, got it out Friday and it was so sweet out of the box I played it on stage four hours on Saturday and loved it! All I had to do was tune the thing and it was like an old friend.
The sound is spot on like my old guitar and I love the ability to play pickups 1 and 3 at the same time.
Nice work by both Fender USA and Sweetwater.
My only issue is the new one doesn't have the sweet smell of stale beer and old cigarettes like my old Strat.
If you can live without that then buy this guitar!

A great guitar!

By Jason from WA
Music Background: Intermediate player

After playing guitar for about a year and a half - I decided to splurge and get a real American made piece. This strat fit the bill. I love playing it and it keeps me motivated to learn the craft of guitar playing. I especially like to run it through my Orange Crush 35R amp with a compressor pedal. The clean tones really sing and I love the gritty crunch tones that come alive on the dirty channel. The case that comes with it is beautiful and the Miami Blue color reminds me of the old 50's and 60's classic cars. Thank you to Ben at Sweetwater for hooking me up with a great deal on this!

Impossible to Photograph Blue is a better color description. Verdict: Fender is crushing it

By Alex S. from Colorado
Music Background: player since '94

Just picked up a maple board, Miami Blue Professional II strat and wow. Wow. Believe the hype, because it's not hype; it's truth. I put on Fender deluxe locking tuners and 10's (instead of the factory standard 9's). Only two things I knew I was going to change when I bought it. I had to drive the spring claw in a good amount to keep the bridge down, but that fix is about as easy as it gets. This guitar is incredible. Normally I do a blender knob on a strat. Not necessary with the push-push addition of the neck pickup . I don't even feel like I need pickups either, and I'm always ready to toss even the highest end guitar pickups for boutiques on any new electric, but the V-Mod II's are great. All five positions are, to my ears, quintessential strat tones. Bonus Tele style bridge/neck option, or all three (both via the push-push) are cool too, and seem more about usefulness than novelty. The neck plays like a dream. The deep-C size took about 5 minutes to adjust to, and now I feel like every guitar I play should feel like that. Fender knocked it out of the park with this one. Rolled edges, thin, tall frets? Amazing. The headstock is even slightly darker for a more vintage look, which is just icing on the cake. Not to go on and on, and this is specific to the Miami Blue colored ones, but as you can read about everywhere, the color is impossible to photograph accurately. It's almost eerie. If I were to guess, I'd say 70/30 blue/green, respectively. The color is phenomenal... stunning really. So yeah, check one out (the Tele I tested seemed great too). Fender truly is in a renaissance now. I give it a 5 out of 5 push-push pots.

Even better than the last Am. Pro I bought

By Ronnie S. from Dallas, Texas
Music Background: Just for fun

I've always love Strats and own a few MiM ones, for whatever reason I bought my first American Fender and it was an American Professional Telecaster. But I absolutely loved it, and the quality was far better than the other Fenders I own. So it was time to find my new favorite. I like all oddball colors that not everyone loves, so when the Miami Blue came out I knew that was the one. It took a little while to get one available but it was worth the wait! Everything feels great in your hands, electronics are all smooth and clear. The sound can go all directions, perfect and clean and plenty of bite for some metal. Still trying to figure out the push-push switch, but it's always nice to have extra options just in case. Glad I waited to get the color and finally get my first American made Strat after 22 years of playing!

What an amazing guitar!

By Cameron

This is my first American made Strat, so I may be a little biased. I have been playing Strats from Squiers, to MIM, to partcasters for 16+ years. There is no comparison from anything I've played to this guitar! The Miami Blue with maple neck color combo is also a huge plus, and actually has more of a green hue in person.

Absolutely Love it!

By Jim R. from Fairfax, Virginia
Music Background: Hobbyist and Amateur Home Recording

I recently received my Fender American Professional II Stratocaster in Miami Blue finish with maple neck, and I absolutely love it! I never would have thought to get a guitar with this finish, but there was just something about the Miami Blue color that I couldn't resist from all of the pictures and video reviews I saw online. I had Sweetwater do a setup and change the stock tuners to Fender locking tuners, which has made all the difference. The guitar arrived in perfect condition, was in perfect tune and the action was set just right. The neck is silky smooth, and I love the chunkier Deep C neck profile. Like the other reviewer stated in his review, the Miami Blue finish is stunning, and has a hint of green or turquoise that cameras just cannot capture. The V-Mod pickups are a bit hotter than the noiseless pickups in my Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster, but they sound amazing and have a nice bright, clean and sparkly clarity to them. The craftsmanship of this guitar is superb. It's a guitar that begs to be played, and I have a hard time putting it down, once I pick it up. I am completely happy with this guitar and highly recommend it. Fender has definitely hit a home run out of the ballpark with this model. A special thanks to my Sweetwater sales engineer, Mark Magdich, for his continued excellent customer service and help with this order!

Gorgeous! Feels and sounds fantastic!

By Lola from St. Louis
Music Background: drummer, guitar player, songwriter

I have owned four other American Strats. This one looks, feels, and sounds the best of all of them. The neck is amazing. The Miami blue finish is gorgeous - it has a hint of green or turquoise that cameras don't really pick up. I have long admired the seafoam green and surf green custom shop Strats with mint pickguards and in my mind, this is even more beautiful. I normally prefer a rosewood fretboard but I thought this looked so good in maple that I got it and am glad I did; the vintage tinting looks so good. I didn't know what to expect from the V-mod ii pickups, but I love them. They are bright, clean, and sparkly. They have the classic Strat sound. In my experience, some American Standard pickups were overwound and muddy sounding - not these. I really didn't care about the push-push button, but I have to say that the neck plus bridge setting is my new favorite. This Strat ticks off all the buttons for me in looks, function, comfort, and sound. Add Sweetwater's renowned customer service (Thanks, Reid!), and I am super happy. This is the Strat I always dreamed of.
