4 x Rubber Retaining Blocks for Instrument Straps

Avoid the dreaded "guitar drop" with a set of Fender Strap Blocks. Just slip the rubber Strap Blocks on the strap peg after your strap for added security. Great for my Great Niece

By Ed from Culver City, CA
Music Background: Player of guitar (for 61 years!), plus Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Sax, Flute, Piccolo and Keyboards.

These will be perfect for my absolutely GORGEOUS Great Niece's Player II Strat! She's about to be 11 years old (as of this writing) and received a red PlayerII Stratocaster for Christmas 2025, and these will be great!

A little extra precaution

By Dave K. from CHICAGO, IL
Music Background: 45 years playing guitar and bass

I had standard buttons on my Tele with an old, cheap Fender strap and it was constantly coming off (it's a miracle my guitar never hit the floor). I put T shaped buttons on but it was no better so I bought a new all-leather strap and these rubber washers and there's no way these are ever coming off without unscrewing the buttons. These can't be beat for the price.

Great Alternative

By Erik A. from Jacksonville, FL, FL
Music Background: I have a Kramer Baretta

These are a great alternative to strap locks. You won't be making any fast guitar/strap changes though. I use them at home on my Kramer Baretta.

Good alternative to stap locks.

Never Failed on Stage

By Seth S.

I use these mainly for my Fenders with stock strap buttons and these are in my opinion the only way to do it. I've been a religious Schaller locks user for most of my life, but these are slowly phasing those out.

Great little product here

By Tom B. from Denton, TX

The holes on my favorite old strap are getting too large and my guitar strap would disengage at inconvenient times. With these buttons it feels solid again. For the price this is an excellent solution.

Could have been a little less rigid.

By Kevin K. from Tinley Park, IL

Great substitute for the Grolsch bottle tops, but if they were just a bit more flexible, they'd be more useful. As it stands, it's hard to beat the D'Addario clips. These are good, just not my Go-To.

Affordable and Sufficient.

By Hunter S. from Parkman, ME
Music Background: Beginner bassist, stereotypical failed guitarist.

For the price, these little plastic washers do what they're meant to and do it sufficiently. They will keep your straps secured well. However, they are by their nature very tight fitting and difficult to get over your strap buttons (and you may not be able to get them on at all). A bit of a hassle, but relatively inexpensive and will protect your instruments from unfortunate falls in a pinch. Considering the price, these are worth keeping on hand, despite the drawbacks.

Plastic is the real washer, not rubber

By Sweetwater Customer

I've been using the plastic washers from ceiling light fixtures for over 30 years, every guitar I own has it's own strap held on by these plastic washers, they never fail.

Great Locks !

By Rich from Iowa
Music Background: Hobby

First of all...reg strap locks can have issues...I've seen it myself..nothing is perfect...and these will not work on every pin...they certainly work on my Epi les paul...and I am very happy. I love the idea of a cap..no matter what kinda cap..I hate having to redrill, or use shim or glue...get the right strap cap for ur pins..and you'll be all set !

Perfect For My Thin & Wide Leather Straps

By Customer B. from ATX

These aren't a perfect, ideal fit for every guitar and strap set-up, but I love 'em when they are "just right". Which is about 95% of the time. I don't use them on my Flying V's but absolutely trust them with Les Paul's and Srat's. Have put 100's of hours of stage and studio time on these, and once you've switched 'em out a few times you'll feel confident in their stability factor, all good. If I lose one, it always seems to be a red one..DOH!

May 14, 2019

Sling it low? You'll love these.

By Sweetwater Customer

Geez, the way people talk about these, you'd think they effect tone. Don't like the red ones? Put them down on the side behind the bridge where you won't see them, and put the black one up on the horn. They're not that hard to slide on. If you're using a thicker strap, maybe switch to a thinner one.
Anyway... I play my basses really low , and these babies work just fine at keeping the strap from slipping off. Well worth the money. Sweetwater customer service amazing as usual.

No frills, no fuss, no mods

By Brandon H. from Paden City WV
Music Background: Lead guitarist, session Musician

First off I am a Dunlop strap lock guy and always have been. I recently got a Fender Brad Paisley Telecaster. I was going to get strap locks for it but thought shiny nickel strap locks would look kinda dumb on a beat up and tarnished guitar. So I was turned on to these by Joe Bonamassa who uses them on his vintage guitars. I thought well it"s worth a try. They work great! I have to say they ain"t gonna withstand you flipping your guitar around your body or excessive crazy strat waving around like strap locks will but they are great! I originally wanted to get these for my ovation acoustic guitars because you can"t put strap locks on them because the screws they use are machine screws. So these work great! You strap doesn"t go anywhere and they are easy to put on and take off. Great for vintage guitars where you don"t want to replace any hardware you don"t have to. Also you can leave them on the strap button when not using a strap and they stay in place! Get a set they work and don"t deface the value of your vintage guitar!

Only works with some straps

By Jeff from Highland IN
Music Background: Live sound engineer, Guitarist, Songwriter

So Ive been using this kind of method for a long time from a particular beer bottle these came in, been on my les paul for 7 years now have never come off. I bought the fender ones as well, and i noticed they only work with thinner straps such as the ernie ball ones. I have a nice leather strap on my telecaster, These will not go on far enough to really lock it in, I could pull them and the strap right off. If you're using a thicker or leather strap, go with a real set of strap locks

Drop-dead simple & it works!

By Tony H. from North Carolina
Music Background: playing guitar since 1987

While I wouldn't be doing any 1980s-esque over-the-shoulder guitar spins with these, for everyday use, they will hold your strap & guitar together, no problem. I was surprised at the stiffness of the rubber and the tight fit over the straplock buttons, but it instilled a sense of trust in the function of the item. It certainly looks alot better than just using a big ol' washer from Home Depot as well! hahahaha

Piece of Mind...

By Geeking O. from The Midwest
Music Background: Small Home Studio / Weekend Warrior

Strap Blocks are the ideal product if:
1) You play your instrument with reckless abandon (refer to early Pete Townshend, or punk rock onstage rocking approach). This review is based on this assumption.
2) You want to set (and forget) your instrument with a strap-locking system
3) You prefer the word "Fender" chiseled into the surface of the product
4) One is working on a shoestring budget

What makes these less than ideal:
1) If you need to swap instrument straps, these blocks would make the process cumbersome unless you are working with a resourceful roadie
2) This might be a "deal breaker" for some, but is this product recyclable? (No indication on the packaging...) Maybe Fender could offer a line of these Blocks made with milk cartons or Whale feathers...
3) If you are a stickler for brand names, what if you wanted to apply this product to a Gibson instrument? Right -- the end of the world as we know it...

Just get 'em and forget 'em.

works as a temporary strap lock

By Sweetwater Customer

They're ok but get a better one asap, these are sure to stretch out. And I don't get why we don't have a choice of colors. I have 6 red ones that will never be used unless the black ones get to worn out, and even then I will get black ones. If I had to. I plan on getting good ones very soon.

Worthless

By Patrick P. from WA

I gave them a try and unfortunately they popped off and landed on the floor within about 3 or 4 minutes of playing. Looks like I'll be buying the "real" strap locks that need to be mounted on the guitar body.

Smart and Simple

By Michael R. from Sacratomato, CA
Music Background: 50 years of hugely enthusiastic amateur playing and singing.

This type of device has been cropping up in guitar mags for a couple of years. These looked promising, and looks did not deceive. I have a nice padded leather Levy strap for my Epi Jack Casady, and I wondered if the fit would be too tight to allow much strap movement. It took a few tries to stretch these over the pegs -- a tight fit, but that's the point. Once attached, I found that the strap smoothly rotated a full 365, yet resisted efforts to detach during use. (No, I don't fling it around -- my aging shoulder requires frequent position shifts!)

I took advantage of the multi-unit savings, but regular price is still a bargain. A smart and simple little tool that WORKS.

Perfect

By Bobby C. from Brookfield, CT
Music Background: Bassist

Just what I needed, easy to put on and now my strap always stays on, I can even kind of throw my bass on and the strap stays on, if I tried that without these my bass would hit the floor.

By Jeff H. from Kalida, OH

Very happy. I use these on my Martin for live gigs. Just put on your regular strap and slip these on over the pins afterward. Easy and they work.

The best and quickest strap lock

By Christopher from Texas
Music Background: Former pro

These Fender strap blocks are perfect and super easy to use. They fit my Fender MB4 bass as well as my acoustic guitar perfectly. Sure, they are simple soft rubber washers but they say "Fender" on them and that makes them special. Get a few sets and keep them in your case.

Cheaper than buying a couple of Grolsches

By Sweetwater Customer

You used to have to down a couple of grolsch beers to get a set of these. Now, you can get those same "free" strap locks without the added enjoyment of pounding a couple of brews. Thanks fender.

Security!

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Pro for 40 years

I have had way too many close calls when my straps decided to pop off.
Now I put the guitar or bass on and feel secure. This is especially cool for those older straps that are worn-in and comfortable but stretched out too much at the ends. And some cheaper straps have very thin leather tabs...so just get a few packs of these and quit worrying!

March 27, 2015

Awesome!

By CRFjockey from Idaho
Music Background: Newbie

The strap buttons on my Squire VM Jaguar Bass V are stupid. The inverted pyramid shape makes the strap difficult to get on, but it comes off REALLY easy. Three times in the last month it's come off while I was playing! I didn't want to use strap locks because I didn't want the buttons sticking out more than they already did putting more stress on the screws and screw holes.

These Fender Accessories Strap Blocks are the perfect solution for me. They are difficult to get on at first, but they hold my strap perfect. No more worries! They probably aren't a good solution if you take your strap on and off frequently. But if you leave it on, these are great.

Although I love the product, I marked it down one star because of the "red" color. I don't believe there is a guitar or strap in the world that these wouldn't look terrible on! I've got three different colors of red guitars, it's difficult to say which was the worst. Every one looked worse than the previous.

So, unless you are color blind (or really cheap), this is basically a pack to cover a single guitar.

If you're not doing guitar swings or crazy throws these are perfect. Have these on my Fender Jazz and my Musicman Sterling bass. No modifying strap pin holes or making the strap pin holes bigger.....just stretch them over the pins and you're set.

These do a great job and probably the best part is that you don't need to remove any hardware. Another plus is that they are cheaper than the regular strap locks and I think they look better.
