PRS SE Standard 24-08 Electric Guitar - Tobacco Sunburst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and PRS Patented Tremolo - Tobacco Sunburst

Playability, tone, looks, and affordability: you'll find it all in the PRS SE Standard 24-08. The SE Standard 24 has been a favorite for years thanks to its focused tone, straightforward aesthetics, and top-tier quality. Today's SE Standard 24-08 wraps all of that into an attractive, value-packed instrument with extended versatility that sings with articulation and warmth akin to those legendary vintage rock tones. A pair of TCI-tuned "S" humbuckers dishes out crystal clarity with plenty of power to bring the heat when necessary. Just like PRS's other 24-08 models, the SE Standard 24-08 features a pair of mini toggles for shockingly lifelike acoustic tones at the flick of a switch. Add in the Wide-thin neck profile, PRS patented tremolo, and iconic Birds inlays, and you have a fantastic instrument that is unmistakably PRS.

Just wonderful

By Johnny Diaz from Pittsburgh, PA on April 18, 2024 Music Background: Professional.

First I want to start by thanking my amazing and wonderful sales engineer Daniel Nesmith , after changing sales engineer few times prior I can finally say that I have the best sales engineer of all, is great to have a sales engineer that will always go the extra mile to take care of your needs and questions, he's always there! It's nice to have someone to talk about gear and be enthusiastic about it, add to that the amazing service from Sweetwater and you have a perfect and unmatched team to take care of all your musical needs
Now to the instrument, this guitar is one of the best value instruments ever, the built quality is top notch, the feel and playability is superb, there is a reason why they can't keep it in stock, the sound quality is great and the fact that you can get 8 different sounds out of the pick ups is a big plus.
Every guitar player needs to have a prs in their arsenal, playing a prs is like a spiritual experience.
The pick ups are great I will change them because I'm looking for something different but believe me they sound pretty good, also will get locking tuners because I play finger style and bend a lot and the stock tuners are not the best.
When this guitar becomes available don't think it twice, just get it. One more thing the pictures don't do justice to it , when you have it in your hands you'll know how beautiful this thing is.

Great guitar

By Tom Donn from New York on January 3, 2024 Music Background: Recording Engineer/Producer with over 40 years experience.

Just love this guitar. Plays very smoothly. Fits my fingers well. At this price it is much better than any starter guitar. Why not get a guitar that is super playable. The tone options are great. Using this in the studio and getting great sounds. And the finish is outstanding. PRS is just an exception company and paired with Sweetwater service and support is a winning combination.
Very happy with this purchase

Absolutely WOW!!!

By Brian from Arizona on December 14, 2023 Music Background: 40+ years of playing electric guitar (rock/electric blues/heavy metal)

The craftmanship on this guitar is stellar! I had heard that PRS guitars are known for their high quality at a fair price and it's true. My guitar is beautiful all the way around. No nicks, scratches or dents. the guitars mahogany top is excellent. The playability is incredible on the neck. I wasn't sure if I would like the wide fret board that PRS guitars have but I love it. All the electronics work great, Tremelo works fine. The only thing I had to do was lower the string action. This is my first guitar with a floating bridge, so I took it to my Luthier, and he lowered the action for me and adjusted the pickup height and now the guitar action is as smooth as silk. Pickups sound great as well.

The guitar was shipped double boxed and arrived on time.
I was so impressed with this guitar that I just bought a PRS SE Custom electric guitar.

Great guitar!

Great guitar, Amazing tone!

Outstanding

By Mike Rider from SCOTTSDALE, AZ on October 17, 2023 Music Background: self taught

Tone monster. Versatile. Easy to play. Beautiful design. The extra frets change my approach to playing guitar. The pickups transmit a rich tone unlike any other guitar I have ever played. Can't put it down. Only thing I modified was to add locking tuners, which PRS sells for SE's. Comes with PRS strings, which seem to be wound in a smoother way for less string noise in the lower 3 strings. If I rub my finger sideways on those strings they're quieter than Ernie Balls. Probably buy PRS strings going forward.

les paul - strat alternative

By peter william lacombe on October 10, 2023 Music Background: hobbyist

for those who like both the gibson les paul and the fender strat but can't afford both should consider this guitar. Its like a les paul and strat rolled into one. you can get the dark fat tones of a les paul, and with the coil split tone knob pulled up, you can get the glassy single coil sounds of a strat. the ergonomics of this guitar is quite superb.the wide thin neck carve feels very comfortable, the action is smooth and fast, and the guitar itself is not heavy on the shoulder. the finish is very beautiful looks better in person. the trem for me is very good for what i do (i don't do dive bombing). in all a very good guitar for the the price. if the low end ones are this good, just imagine how good the high end ones are.

Amazingly Versatile Guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on November 16, 2022

This guitar is amazingly versatile with great tone and balance. It's the best of both worlds between a Strat and a Les Paul. I play this guitar with a pedalboard which works really well. Little volume/tone knob adjustments can go a long way and mixed with split coils the possibilities are endless.

Look no further!

By Hershel Muncy from West Virginia on October 17, 2022 Music Background: 60 years

If you are looking for the perfect guitar, look no further! I have performed everywhere, and owned dozens of guitars. When I received this guitar from Sweetwater, I knew my search was over. When I removed it from the free PRS gig bag, I couldn't believe how beautiful this guitar really is! The photos can't capture the beauty of the wood or the high gloss finish of this guitar! It arrived in perfect condition. The balance, the action, the neck feel and the layout of the controls felt like the guitar was custom made just for me. It was even still in perfect tune! The guitar plays effortlessly. With the individual coil splits, and the great humbucker pickups, you can create your own sound. I own over 20 high dollar, big name guitars. None compares to this. The past had very good guitars. A lot of technology and improvements have been have happened over the last 50 years. Along with feedback and recommendations from uncounted professional guitar players who make their living with guitars in their hands. This guitar is the sum result of all that technology and information. No model A Ford can compete with a new Mustang.
In my 50 plus years of playing, this is the finest guitar I have ever played or owned. And Sweetwater is the best place to buy any gear. Their support team and sales staff is second to none. Austin Childress and David Bell are prime examples of the professional people we musicians can count on when we need help and advice!

First PRS. Really fun to play.

By Nick Murphy from Centennial, CO on September 14, 2022

I really like the feel and playability of this guitar. I have a variety of guitars from various brands, and I can tell why people love PRS. It played great and held tune right out of the box. It's one of two guitars I have that needed zero work to play perfect. The other one was twice the price. All I did was lower the action a bit to my preference. The unique scale is fun getting used to also. My sales guy was great to work with also and answered any questions I had. Thank you for hooking me up with a great instrument Stephen Campbell!

My guitar can beat up your guitar

By John Lambert from Bowdoin, ME on August 24, 2022

Quality craftsmanship and design. I was more attracted to the pickup layout and coil tapping options. This guitar really can sound like a strat, a tele, an LP or SG.. It does everything but hollow body. The thing came in tune! I was thinking about putting locking tuners on there but after playing it a while, I don't think I need them. I'm really happy with the Sweetwater makes different units available, you get to pick from a selection. As always, my cust service rep Jacob is there for any support.

Incredible Value

By Kevin Brockway from Nashville on August 10, 2022 Music Background: singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, producer

I've wanted a PRS for years and when I saw one at this price point I had to try it. It's a true PRS with incredible tone, great playability and one of the best tremolos I've used. I've been playing since 1964 and have many guitars but this one has become my go to because its just fun to play, very comfortable, smooth frets, great action right out of the box. Sweetwater did a great setup on it as usual. This guitar falls into the category of "you can pay more but not really get a better instrument".

Will smoke you out

By JERRY ORONA from I'm from the San Francisco Bay,but I'm out here in Atwater California for now on August 10, 2022 Music Background: I've played guitar since eight years old, and I've played with S.F. area rock bands, now I'm practicing my own originals, haven't found anybody to play with, so I keep in shape, by tuning my ears

I'VE HEARD THIS NEW PRS SE STANDARD 24 408, and if you know what you're doing you can literally overpower the rest of the band, but, again if you know what you're doing you can synchronize, and harmonize beautifully with the band, and your sets will come out like a natural chorus, the se standard 24 408 is very agile in tone and flexible in any arena of musical applications.

Simply Beautiful

By Michael Beausoleil from Anthem, AZ on August 5, 2022

Sometime after my purchase, I read somewhere that this axe feels and plays bigger than its price tag. I couldn't have described better the feeling I have playing this beauty. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this instrument.

My new PRS

By Julio Larregoity from Puerto Rico on June 20, 2022 Music Background: Playing since chilhood

Recieved mine as soon as available. Very happy with this guitar. Covers all my needs and has sounds in the range of a Gibson and Stratocaster. So I sold 2 guitars , no mere needed. Very versatile and a breeze to play and here. Its a keeper...

PRS SE 24-08 Standard-Tobacco Sunburst

By Sweetwater Customer on May 16, 2022 Music Background: Been a Musician for more than 5 decades!

I have a soft spot for the SE models since they first came out and I've had 3, even though I own a1994 PRS CE with the rowdy tone pot.
This SE has the same pickups and switches the PRS Paul has only the 23-08 has the tremolo! The pickup combination are on point
and the guitar comes setup perfectly from Sweetwater. PRS guitars no matter what price range offers a great instrument for all players.
All pickup combination can cover styles one plays and the frets are perfectly smooth rounded for this and many other reason you can't
go wrong with this guitar and that's why I give it 5 Stars and very pretty guitar.

Change of Heart

By Dave from Colfax, CA on October 26, 2022

Don't write reviews after having a bad day. Yes it did have a little ding by the tuners, yes the back plate location over the trem needed moving to change strings and that ping or harmonic sound I get settled down when I rolled the tone knob back a bit. Now the things I do love starting with the grain match on the body of this guitar is beautiful and the neck and fretboard make playing this guitar so easy and fun. The micro switch coil tap is amazing giving my Strat some serious competition with a unique tone I can't get with my Strat. All in all this is a good guitar, not perfect but a good bang for the buck.
