Guild Starfire I DC Semi-hollow Electric Guitar - Cherry Red Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Mahogany Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Push-pull Humbucking Pickups - Cherry Red

The double-cut Starfire I DC is based on a classic Guild design. Its arched center-block construction supplies the airy, resonant quality of some timeless Guild semi-hollow electrics, while at the same time helping to neutralize squealing and squelching in a loud performance setting. This turns out to be quite an asset onstage, especially for rock music. Standard-sized HB-2 alnico humbuckers — which build off of Guild's iconic HB-1s — supply a warmth and bite that compares favorably to some classic PAFs. Not only that, but push-pull pots unlock a distinct single-coil cluck that suits blues, surf, country, and rock music superbly. This Guild Starfire I DC features a Guild Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar for maximum sustain and tuning stability. Considering its price and pedigree, the Guild Starfire I DC is one of the most appetizing electrics to come out this season. Get your hands on one today — order now through Sweetwater.

Guild Starfire I - Cherry Red

By Rick from Spartanburg, SC on June 17, 2022

Wow, what a great affordable semi-hollow guitar! I had read other reviews on this guitar and requested to be notified when it was in stock. My fantastic sales engineer, Paul LaFemina immediately emailed me that the guitar was expected to arrive in March. He allowed me to actually place an order with no obligation just to assure I got one when when the shipment arrived. Then when the guitars arrived Paul claimed one for me and confirmed via email that I still wanted one. Of course I did and Paul had it shipped that same day. Couldn't be happier with the guitar, Sweetwater and Paul LaFemina. After three months I probably pick up this guitar more than any I have.

Starfire 1DC Walnut

By Drew from Sugarloaf, CA on August 24, 2021 Music Background: Gigging amature

sounds good. feels good. looks good. Beautiful fretwork. Great fit and finish. Wide sonic footprint with the coil taps. A great value and very versatile. I needed something more appropriate for the wine n' cheese gigs and this fills the bill. Try one and see if it suits you. I hemmed n' hawed, then bit the bullet and bought it...no regrets.

Great Guitar

By James Thomas from HOUSTON, TX on July 18, 2021

After decades of being off the stage and playing with old gear for friends and family, I bought a new guitar to start playing in a band again. Bought a Guild Starfire I DC and love it. Feels good, sounds great. Excellent guitar!

I just purchased the Starfire 1 cherry last week
and it is worth at least 4x
their selling price. Fit , finish and playability are top notch. Love the push pull volume knobs, i can get many different sounds from it. if you were to have only one guitar this is the one..

Look no further

Hi, I'm Buddy Malone I don't normally put my name out there unless it's something really good and worth talking about I have bought and sold many guitars that I could afford in my lifetime looking for that unique blues sound like the blues greats with no success "Until now" I have searched the web and visited many music stores trying to find that right guitar I'm here to save those out there looking for that right guitar with out breaking the bank Look no further than the Guild Starfire 1 Semihollow this guitar is set up to accompany any sound you want The fretboard let's your fingers glide across it The action and sound with this instrument is unique in its self I'm 70 years old and one could only imagine how many guitars a person of my age has gone through to find that perfect guitar for those of you out there that are going through what I've gone through in my lifetime looking for that perfect guitar I strongly recommend the Guild Starfire 1 semihollow "It's awesome"

I love this guitar. I play a wide range of music from fingerpicking to grunge rock. The fit and finish are great on this guitar. Half a star lost for the tuning machines which do seem to slip a bit. I didn't like the bridge pickup at first, and went as far as ordering a seth lover to replace it. I was jamming with a group I don't play with often, and one of them asked if we could do one of my originals that I usually play on my strat. I split the bridge pickup and discovered I actually do like it lol. It's not stratty but it cuts through and is definitely a usable tone through my ac15

I don't have very much experience on the real deal es335, but I tried the hagstroms, ibanez, epiphone, and gretsch semi hollows and didn't find one that I fell in love with. I ordered this guitar because I tried a buddy's older starfire and was blown away. This guitar has the vintage feel with modern affordability. Try it. You won't regret it

Cool and Classy!

By Sweetwater Customer from New Jersey on April 9, 2021

Just got my starfire and it's been great fun to play! It has super nice a bright and clear tone across all the different pickup configurations and I can move along the neck very quickly! It looks so classy too especially with the cool tan edging along the guitar. Really happy with my starfire!

It has potential...

By Steve from POCATELLO, ID on August 8, 2023

Given the price, I didn't have the highest expectations but this thing has become a my "luthier learning" project and I'm actually starting to like it.

Out of the box, this guitar was almost unplayable. The neck was bowed, the tuners were junk, the bridge saddles had burrs in the metal, the pickups buzzed and picked up random EMI that none of my other guitars do. Also, "composite nut" just means plastic. That all being said, the fit & finish was so pretty I thought it had potential to be my poor-man's es-335 and I chose not to return it.

I cleaned up the fretboard a little, cut a new bone nut, replaced the bridge, added some Grover statites and shielded what I could reach with copper. I may have put $120 extra into it total and it already plays 100X better. I'm currently looking for some new pups with a little more "gusto", but the stock Guilds are OK for now. t
