Still needs refinement.....

By Michael L. from Flower Mound, TX
Music Background: 25+ yrs playing, semi pro and collector

Actually sorry to write less than a 5 star review, as I've had great experience with Line 6 gear for 20+ years. My biggest issue with the unit (and I've updated the firmware to the latest, on current version) is stability. It just does random gltich-y things for now reason. Drop outs, weird pauses between snapshots and pre-sets, odd distortion on outputs, and sometimes plain just going quiet until re-boot.

I could not trust this on a gig at this point. Too glitchy.

Other than that, the updates/models are great, the workflow and touchscreen are also great.

I think the firmware needs more time and seasoning. I like being an early adopter, but this isn't all there just yet.

Endless Possibilities

By DAVID L. from Mulino, OR
Music Background: Worship, Cover music, Original Compositions, Music lover

I am new to the Helix ecosystem. The Stadium XL is my first Helix product. I have been looking for ways to streamline my rig as I primarily play worship on Sundays, do occasional gigs, and practice and record at home. I have tried multiple different rigs, from other multi FX, to pedal board rigs with tube amps and digital amp models with IRs.

My problem, I was never content. I repeated the same cycle over and over of starting simple, adding more and more pedals to achieve new sounds and functionality, realizing my rig had gotten to unwieldy, pairing down to something more simple, then starting the cycle over again. It was always a compromise of either a simple and portable rig, or a complex rig I was content with sound wise.

It is important to me to have a rig that can replicate sounds consistently in all scenarios. I have shied away from the Helix systems because I thought I needed something more unique, but let me tell you, I can genuinely produce any sound I can think of, consistently and with excellent quality with this modeler! And best of all, I don't feel like I have to compromise in the slightest!

This pedal is very intuitive. I'm sure I have a lot to learn still, but I've had this for a month and with very limited effort have produced several presets I am entirely pleased with. Snapshots are a game changer! What have I been doing all these years:/ I can play whole sets on one preset just switching snapshots. There is so much online support and YouTube instructions, I have barely needed to look at the manual!

Big thanks to my sales guy Phil for leading me to the Stadium XL. I am so looking forward to future updates and exploring functions like Showcase. I have experienced some bugs and glitches, but I expected as much being an early adopter. With as happy as I already am, I can only imagine what will come with future updates.

Well done Line 6!
Well done Sweetwater!

Horrible Experience

By George P. from Allendale, NJ

After spending $ and waiting three weeks for the Stadium XL to ship, the unit arrived and could not complete the initial setup process because of a software glitch (I think?). I wasted two days of my life trying every proposed fix in the forums, none of which worked. Then Sweetwater support walked me through the same fixes I'd already tried, which - surprise! - still didn't work. I'm now sending the unit back and am furious about this experience.

Great for some people!

By Timmy from FL
Music Background: semi pro ex pro

Its pricey, and do you really need thousands of amps/cabs and effects! don't get me wrong it is a nice sturdy unit, but you can get a really nice marshall/mesa/ bad cat for this price, or a headrush prime for less than half.

The Best Just Keeps Getting Better!!!

By Stan P. from Sprague River, OR
Music Background: Old professional musician... playing for 71+ years... Rock, Country, Blues, Pop, Contemporary Christian, Gospel, etc...

As a proud owner of numerous Line 6 devices, the Helix Stadium just takes every level achieved previously and takes it to a whole new elevation. Touch screen ease in programming, intuitive operation in every way, and constantly updating the already awesome database. Agoura amps are more than a step above everything else available, anywhere! The functionality and ease of programming is beyond what I had ever hoped for... no more guesswork... if you don't understand anything... just ask, and it explains it all...

I use it and my Helix Platinum, mostly for singer/songwriter/solo performances... and they are both the type of quality that you would expect from Line 6. The Stadium makes ownership a true pleasure... So easy to program and use, and I have just touched the tip of the real "Iceberg" that awaits my demands. This unit continues to amaze me in every way. The most inventive processor available anywhere!

I easily have over $ invested in Line 6 products, and I have been using their intuitive products since the AXSYS 212, so that makes me a faithful Line 6 customer for over 30 years... and I swear by their products.

And again, enters Ashton Boyd, Sweetwater sales engineer extraordinaire... He has been my sales rep ever since I began purchasing from Sweetwater. And he has taken care of me like he was a family member... If I need it quick... he makes it happen... If I need it adjusted... he makes it happen to my satisfaction... and on and on... I have nothing but praise for this young man and the honorable company he represents!!!

A Worthy Upgrade

By Frank B. from Laguna Beach, CA
Music Background: Serious hobby, don't want to make a job out of it...

Enough processing power to handle multiple instruments and players. Some of the new features are really good for your workflow. I use this strictly as an analog device in my signal chain (tweaking patches through a wifi connection) FX loop jacks add ins and outs accommodate this without digital recording sync issues. All of the in and out jacks can be assigned anywhere in your signal chain .. line 6 editor is like a virtual patch panel. Can also be a digital audio interface but I don't use it that way because I need too many channels. The new Agoura amp modeling is superior. No typical "fizzy digital sound". A must for a modern studio.

Fun, Intuitive, Convenient

By Cinique L. from Tooele, UT

I am a novice when it comes to creating guitar effect chains (with most of my knowledge transferring from general sound designing.) I tried to Quad Cortex, and I didn't connect with it. The sound was good, but I didn't like the hardware or software interface (despite loving the touchscreen concept). I started down the pedalboard rabbit hole before quickly realizing I was in over my head.
The main features that drew me to the Helix were the connections (USB-C, Bluetooth audio reception), the digital labels, the software/hardware interface, and the all-in-one nature of the device. I immediately connected with the Helix. I love using this device with Loopy Pro to sketch songs. The touchscreen is incredibly responsive. The stomp buttons are nicely spaced. The labels and colors can be adjusted. The pedal (which is metal and feels solid) is excellent.
So far, I've only used the Helix on a basic level. I'm not making insane chains, but I'm excited to dive into the various effects. I'm not sure this would replace your Strymons or creative, boutique pedals, but there's a lot of creative potential in a single device that's far less expensive than buying a ton of pedals. Even the distortions sound great.

Helix Stadium xl.

By Michael D. from Mechanicsburg PA
Music Background: Hobby

Long time line 6 user back to the original kidney bean pod. Unimaginable how far things have come. It's similar to my previous line 6 helix flagship purchased 10 years ago. The learning curve was much easier than expected. Within 2 days I had it all connected, downloaded the latest update, and had even more familiar computer interface connected. Key here is the sound. Spectacular. I still have old helix sitting there. I actually don't think I'll be needing it. Endless possibilities with what is here and yet to come
Thanks Shelby S for all your help.
FYI, as a music fan I have seen many pro touring musicians that are all in on this technology.helix, kemper, cortex, fractal.
In my humble opinion, this new stadium will be the go to for many in the next few years.

Amazing so far

By Kevin S. from CHAMPAIGN, IL

Coming from a PodGo, so take that for what it's worth. The only knock on this thing is that there are too many options! Even the preloaded sounds are great, and the agora amps sound absolutely fantastic. Super user-friendly. I haven't even looked at the manual, but I can get some great sounds just fiddling around with it. I still need to update the firmware to 1.2 to get even *more* options.

Finally. The one

By TIm M. from Mchenry, Illinois
Music Background: 35 years playing, collecting, selling, shipping and modifying guitars.

Im gonna keep this short and sweet. I have had a lot of premium modelers. Not all but a lot. This has to be the easiest to use piece of gear that is ultra intuitive to use and helps you out if you dont know what you are doing. I love the sounds and the effects as well as the UI. My unit hasnt had any issues and even if it does I know I am in good hands. Is there a lot of "hype" about this product? Yes but its well deserved. Im not gonna lie, its an expensive piece of gear. But I would say that you definitely have to experience it for yourself and not just trust the court of popular opinion from those who only heard a youtube video. Its a piece of gear you HAVE to try or you wont understand why its so rewarding for the player. When you are playing more than you are menu diving you are on the right path.

Amazing Simply Amazing.

By Derek K. from ASHLAND, KY

What it is now, and what it will be, given line6's history of updates and attention to detail. This thing is and will continue to be amazing in the future. The new models are fantastic, and the new UX and client are exceptional as well. I am stoked to have this unit and look forward to whats to come!

Makes me play more

By Austin G. from DeLand, Florida

Have owned an FM9 Turbo, Quad and Nano Cortex, Headrush and the Tone Master Pro. This unit is by far the most fun for me to play.

Does it sound better?? I have no idea and frankly I don't care. It sounds GREAT and it's fun. It all comes down to U/I and this is unparalleled. The first night with this thing I played for 6 hours. That is probably more than I have played over the last couple weeks or maybe the last month. I love this thing.

Underwhelming

By Brendan P. from Sanford, FL

It's great product. Coming from an FM9 and a Quad Cortex, I was not blown away by this device. Powering up seemed a little unstable, but for many people this will be a great piece of gear to have, especially with future updates. The new amp models still sound underwhelming to me. For this price, I was expecting much more.

Investment for the future

By John K. from Waterbury, CT

Long-time Line6 guy, since the POD. Had the Helix floor for 10yrs and was very happy with it and the support/upgrades it got over the years. Hearing the Stadium's Factory presets, I knew right away it sounded better. Not night and day (the old Helix is still great imo), but def better. Took me a couple of days to learn things and get my old Helix presets right. Once I got used to the touch screen workflow, things fell into place pretty quickly. This is the long-term vehicle Line6 chose for the next 10 years or more and, like the old Helix, it will have many upgrades. I've had a long and great history with them and feel excited for what's to come. The more I use it, the happier I am about having it.

This is the pole position amp modeler...exceeds expectations

By Paul . from van down by the river
Music Background: progressive tones top shelf gear

I had an array of UAFX amp modeler pedals and I was quite happy with the results. When this unit was announced it drew me back into the possibilities of Line 6 again. While I did not keep my original Helix due to one too many deal kills for me. Those issues seem to have been addressed by the new features of the Stadium line. The loop effects bypass has been improved so that everything is not altered by putting it in the loop. Some of the "effects" are still what I would term digital cheese but the newer modeling is improving things quite a bit. I have great hopes for Agoura and pending Proxy and if this is where we are starting the future looks very good.
I love this platform, the touch screen and graphics are just out of the park cool and most importantly it puts the fun back into playing again. While you certainly cab be pulled into the black hole of infinite options when creating and designing presets it is also very easy to get an up and running basic great tone and just tweak it in further. I wanted this for the best available amp models and it serves that purpose. Most of the delay/reverb stuff is top shelf, the dynamics compressors and what not will do the job. The amps take take of the high gain and the various drives and boosts do what they do. I was surprised in the many attempts I have seen of matching the little Xotic EP booster, the Stadium hit it on the Kinky boost model. With the gain

Another awesome product by Line6

By Sam
Music Background: Praise & Worship

As a long-time Helix LT user, I had a high expectation on the enhanced sound quality to make this upgrade worthwhile. It certainly did. Objectively, while it still sounds awesome, I believe the old Helix marginally lacks some feels and fidelity compared to its top-tier competitors like Fractal and Tonex. Finally I can say that Stadium is on par with these top-tier devices in terms of the tones as long as you dial in them properly.

Stadium maintains all the quirks and features that make playing the guitar easy and fun, if not even better than its predecessor. Now this is all BEFORE the upcoming new features including capturing and showcase. I'm looking forward to even more to come with this.

For my fellow worship guitarists, this should be one of your top choices.

It's HERE!!!

By Matthew from GLENDALE, AZ
Music Background: 40 years playing guitar in bands, 35 years professionally.

This is a super-limited review as I've only owned the unit for about 30 hours and I've barely scratched it's surface.
I did use it at band-practice today and it was KILLER. I've owned and loved the original Helix since it came out, so I'm already familiar with the UI. The touch-screen is a HUGE improvement, and so are features like the hype control & focus-view. I didn't have time to import my presets from my old Helix, but I was able to whip up a quick clean patch with the Twin-Reverb model and a distorted patch with the 5150III. These new Agoura amp-models are amazing. The studio where we practice has an actual 5150III, and I honestly couldn't discern a difference in tone, playability or response from the genuine article. The SLO-100 model kills, too. Mind-blowing.

I'll leave a more detailed review after I've used it for some shows but so far it's totally lived up to the hype.

Many thanks to Sweetwater & my sales rep Christian for helping me get my hands on this bad-boy so early.

Quantum Leap for Helix

By Jerry W. from Colorado

WOW! I'm just on day 1 and Stadium has certainly exceeded my expectations. The tone, clarity and responsiveness to edits is fantastic on the Agoura amps. Im also impressed with how my existing Helix patches sound. The navigation is very similar to Helix, so no big learning curve to conquer and the enhancements and new features are great. So glad I made the jump and looking forward to all the features to come. This and the lighter, smaller form factor make the Stadium a home run for me.
