Excellent amp
Lightweight, powerful amp, loaded with features. XLR cable port is excellent for working with a mixer or sound system. The Spider Software makes it easy to interface with the amp when setting up modeling. Highly recommend this amp for stage performance or working in a studio.
Line 6 spider 120 amp
I have been out of play guitar for a while and recently decided I want another guitar and amp. Bought this amp off a recommendation by my son and it seem to be really nice amp great sound easy to use and make adjustments on the effects and all accessing them. So far glad I got the line six amp. I would definitely recommend to anyone needed a great smaller amp with plenty of punch and effects
FANTASTIC amplifier; great for home practice for those wanting a variety of tones.
Although I have occasionally played with small bands, I mostly am a home guitar player. I have mostly played 'modeling' amps my whole life and for well over 20 years, I was using a Roland Cube 30 with a 10-inch speaker. I was wanting a newer amplifier with a greater variety of tones and settings, and something that had a laptop interface/program. I am so happy I chose the Spider V 120W amp. It's not too big and only weighs 30 lbs, but from what I have read and believe, it could easily be used to play with a band in practice or a live setting. Yet, you can play it as quiet as you want for home practice/playing. The settings and interface on the amp face are easy to navigate and there are well over a 100 different tones you can have set at once. Additionally, you can download the Spider V Remote application for your phone or laptop. With this, you can adjust and save all of the settings for the different saved tones right on the application; super easy. Also, you can download tones from the Line 6 website that other users have developed and saved. Want an Eddie Van Halen tone? There are probably dozens that have been created and shared by other users. Overall, I am thrilled I made the decision to purchase this amp, my first new one in over 20 years.
Spider 120
This amp was so good, I had to upgrade to the 4X12 cab & 240 head. Line 6 is amazing!
Love the sound out of this one
I have only had this for a little over a week but so far loving every minute of it. I wanted the 240 version but at time of purchase just short a few bucks for it. This amp sounds amazing and i know there are people out there that hate modelers but hey to each his own. This unit has everything built in one unit no need to look at something else. In a couple months i just might go for the 240 and keep this one as a back up. If you are in the market for a new amp this fits the bill you wont regret it.
Simply Amazing
The line 6 Spyder V 120 is a guitarist dream. I've played lots of other amps, my last one being a fender mustang 100W modeling amp and this amp blows it away. The speaker is deep and full of thump, the presets are not trash at all, there is a setting for almost any genre of music and the Spyder 5 control panel for my PC allows me to control every aspect of the amp. IT's full of effects that will not let you down and there is the tone cloud of course that allows for instant downloads of any sound you can imagine. This amp is well built, easy to use (with a bit of time learning how to tweak what you want) The one drawback of this amp is the time it takes just to cozy up to it and feel comfortable finding what you need, learning to create and save your own presets. But trust me it's well worth it! Some might say the price point is a little high, but if you're going to spend money on an amp to service you for years, this is that amp. Besides, it's only money...you'll make more and Sweetwater will never steer you wrong. My sales engineer Justin Sunday and amazing, he's fast to respond to any issues and quick to make reccomendations on accessories such as foot switches, cables, etc. ORDER IT TODAY!
No Fuss, Great Tones
This amp is just what I was looking for and it delivered as advertised. It contains a wide selection of presets that are usually just what I need, but then I can tweak to my heart's content and its not complicated at all. The tuner is well designed, fast and accurate. Well constructed. The looper is a lot of fun too. I highly recommend it.
Amazing amp
This amp is probably one of the best amps I've used in my 20 years of playing. You can get pretty much any tone you desire
A fantastic amp with lots of options for amp models and effects pedals
I had purchased a smaller modeling amp from a different company a little over a year ago but was quickly frustrated with its limitations and so was a bit leery of other such amps. I investigated the Line 6 Spider V MkII series of amps and decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did! I decided on the 120-watt version because I know that it will be great performing as well as in my practice room and I won't have to worry about boosting the volume somehow. It is a solidly-built amp with nothing cheap-feeling about it. The sound is clear and full. The knobs on the front allow a person to "do it all" from switching between presets or user-saved tones although using either of the two USB ports on the back to attach to a tablet, smartphone or a computer makes it a lot easier for editing and saving tones, as well as downloading tones from the internet that others have created.
There are two USB ports -- one is a USB-B port which would be used for connecting to a computer or Android tablet or smartphone (according to the manual) and the other is a USB-A port supposedly for connecting an iPhone or iPod (NOT iPad). The USB-A port will only connect to iOS devices which have a lightning connector! A USB-B-to-USB-C cable (or combination of cable and adapter) DOES work with the newer iPad models without a lightning connector.
The amp contains 32 banks of four presets and user tones. Only the last bank is showing as available for User Tones so it appears that a user could only save 4 tones. That's not true, though. Any of the first 31 sets of 4 presets can be over-written by the user if so desired. And they can all be edited and then re-saved.
There is a special FBV jack on the back of the amp. While not necessary, the optional extra Line 6 FBV3 foot controller is a great add-on that makes changing between tones and using the looper very simple. And the pedal is great for volume control or for control of wah and other effects. There is also a less expensive Line 6 FBV Express pedal or the FBV2. The FBV Express pedal has a volume/wah foot pedal while the FBV 2 only has back and forward foot switches.
One thing which is fantastic about this amp is that the sequence of the pedals and amp models in the signal chain can be changed. So if a person wants to put an eq at the end of the signal chain that's possible or if a person wants the eq at the start of the signal chain that's possible, too. The software (either on PC/Mac, or Android or iOS device) makes editing the signal chain easy and clear to understand.
This amp has so many amp models and effects pedals to select from and such a great editing potential that we can all say goodbye to the hassle of bringing lots of effects pedals and setting them up and then changing them around in the middle of a gig.
It will take a long time to fully realize all that this amp has to offer, but one thing is very clear -- it's a great sounding amp so one can simply plug it in and start to play and be amazed.
Line 6 Spider V 120
This amp is killer. It has so many wonderful sounds. 12" speaker is perfect. Plenty of range. So many of good, usable patches. It's ready to play right out of the box.
Spider V 120
This thing is totally amazing.. unreal.... I give it 5 stars, but it really only deserves 4.99 stars..
Awesome!!!
I have been a fan of line 6 for awhile. They have came a long way since my first Line 6 spider that I got back in 2007. This amp sounds amazing and has so many setting. I would suggest getting the Line 6 spider remote app, it helps go through the setting easier and faster. You can also create your own tones. Get this amp you will not be disappointed!
New spider amp
Love this amp does a lot, wish I had bought it sooner. Just need to get a cable so I can hook it up to my computer. Not sure which one it is.
Awesome Amp
My background is tube amps. Boutique and heavyweights like the Fender 65 Twin custom at 75 lbs. so I was skeptical at moving to a solid-state amp. I am older. So I felt I needed to experiment to be able to carry an amp around and make playing more fun than work. My back just isn"t what it used to be.
Bottom line is the tone is awesome and easy to adjust using my phone or iPad with the graphical layout. Combined with the FBV 3 foot pedal it is easy to use. Line 6 has a winner
Line 6 120 spider guitar amp
When I got this I was looking for a smaller yet powerful amp with effects this amp fit the bill. It has exceeded all my expectations. So many different sounding amps built in to it. It makes it easy to get that exact sound you want. And its wireless system is awesome along with the pedal board to control it all. I got exactly what I was looking for. My Jerry Cantrell lp sounds great thru this amp. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a modeling amp. The line 6 so far is the right choice I love it
Katana vs Spider? I have both with the food pedals
Boss Katana MkII 1x12 vs Line6 Spider MkII 1x12. Where Boss wins is, price, how quickly you can get a basic tone out of the amp, live sets allowing you to have more sound types stored than any human needs (if you have a laptop plugged in otherwise 9), the amp tones are better IMHO, and it functions like a amp should. I'll say the 1x12 both suffer from the on board speaker just not being that great even with some amazing cab selections. Where the line6 wins is the software is way better and easier to use(however at the time of this writing only working on ipad and not win10 for me), plus you can use a tablet. The footswitch while large is a lot better and has just enough buttons IMHO. The spider also makes it easier to get other people tone configs so you can sound like your favorite song without trying to figure out all the tweaks yourself. All in all I have to say I like the Spider better but the Katana is a much better deal. If you just need an amp because either A you dont use a lot of FX or B you have another FX/Pedal you just want to plug in go with the Katana. If your looking for an all in one unit that your going to use the on board FX and you like a variety of sounds spend the extra on the Spider.
Line 6 Spider V 120 MkII 1x12" 120-watt Modeling Combo Amp
This is best amp I have Used
Love it
I play a little of everything... I had a Marshall Code 50 and wasn't happy. With the spider and sound cloud, I have not had any issues finding quality tones that suite my needs.
I also got the FBV III pedalboard and it is a great combo. Switching between tones during a song seems to be much quicker/cleaner than with the Marshall Code. I also have a Firehawk FX and this sounds every bit as good to my ears.
My only complaints are I wish it connected to the mobile app via Bluetooth. I also wish it had a Variax cable connection.
Alright of a amp
Let's be honest it's a $ amp so it's not a piece of junk-but it's also nothing to get all crazy about either-in today's world it's like $500 is the new $250-but what I mean is that it's a great amp for it's price range-it gives you a lot of different options to choose from and has ok of a sound-now I'm not the one to tell you, you need a $4,000 amp or guitar to sound good-but you just have to understand that these models are mainly for practicing/getting a feel for guitar/amps/gear. Because trying to actually record on this thing isn't really going to give you that good sound you want-It has some great sounds on here and you can sound decent in front of ppl or online doing your own covers but it's not studio quality if that makes any sense. Sure you can use it in the studio or to record if you want to-but eventually you should upgrade to a high end Marshall or sum. This amp gives you everything you need to learn guitar-but once you're done learning and learned a few songs and now want to record them-I'd upgrade and keep this amp as a backup speaker for backing tracks. Cause this thing does so much better as a speaker and is very loud. For instruments, it's to digital and the sound quality isn't there-tube amps are going to give you that good sound you're looking for. I gotta say though practicing guitar at night is very hard where I live-so I have to use headphones-this amp has a headphone jack so you can play at night-basically every tube amp doesn't have that so what I'd do if I were you is-play for real on that tube amp in the day-then at night put your headphones on and jam. Like I said it's not going to give you that great great sound, but you can practice at night with it and get more hours of guitar in-even though you won't be on your marshall.
Difficult to operate
Very hard to get a tone other than presets. Too much 'hands on' for any kind of live performance. Probably good in the studio once you memorize the complex features.
