Boost
Thumbs up! Does what it says, boosts the sound without any harsh overdrive sound.
Cool little pedal!
I've recently returned back to Pedalboard-ALL from processors and this is a great addition to my pedalboard. It does just what it's supposed to do, boost my volume. As a bonus it adds a bit of character to my sound. The volume knob allows for plenty of gain if I need it. In fact I only turn it up enough to give it that little umph when I need it. The thing I really love it about it is the very reason I purchased it. That momentary volume burst I can get just by tapping the switch for that spark of volume to stand out. It really lives up to it's name and has made a real difference in my ease of playing.
Loud! (Then quiet!)
I've used this to gig, and I love how it is dead silent and doesn't color the tone when disengaged. It has plenty of volume on tap, and the momentary latching footswitch is a killer feature. Everything you need, nothing more; I find it's a perfect pedal and I'm incredibly picky generally.
It's a mini boost pedal
Small, way more clean boost than you'll ever need, and doesn't color your sound. Also no noise of any kind when you engage or disengage it.
Great little clean boost
I was looking for something that I could use for a super clean boost. I'm a bass player and I needed something to increase my overall level without coloring my sound. I used this for the first time at a gig and it was perfect. I'm running it into the effects loop of my bass amp for occasional solos. It was great, really clean increase of dB. Click it, signal boosted, click it and right back to my original level. Would highly recommend this pedal.
Just what my rig needed
Absolutely as described. Clean boost with no change in tone. I put it at the front of my pedal chain to even my single coil guitars out with my humbucker guitars. Makes all of my other pedals respond to the single coils and really brings out the sparkle in my clean tone. Definitely the most bang for your buck. Highly recommend it for any rig.
Nice Clean Analog Boost
This pedal is true to its name - a spark plug so to speak. Nice clean, tone-true boost to your signal. I use this primarily at 25% as a 5 dB boost for lead/solo situations. I have it placed after tube driver pedals, last in my chain before noise gate on the way to my Catalyst 60 instrument input (pre-amp). I've also placed it in front of my Hot Tubes OD pedal to drive that even deeper into dirt, a real juicy application of this pedal.
Always On
This is the best pedal you can buy for this price. It does exactly what you need it to do. Crystal clear boost. I use it as an always on pedal and have it turned up to about 8:00. It just livens up every guitar and amp you use it with. If I could rank this one 6/5, I would.
Love this pedal!
The momentary option is what makes this superior among boosts, in my opinion. Plus, it sounds great!
TC Spark
Great BANG for the buck!
Packs a punch
Perfect little box of overdrive!
AMAZING
I absolutely love this boost pedal! The Spark Mini Boost pedal took my board to the next level! Thank you so much Sweetwater and especially Rogan for always being a great help.
Best volume boost!
This thing is amazing! I use it on every solo to give my tone and volume an extra kick!
Exactly what I needed.
I'm a Worship Pastor, leading the worship band, playing a Martin HD 28, and singing. To connect to our sound system, I am using a Shure GLXD16 wireless system to a pedal board, where I occasionally, I use an effects pedal. This older effects pedal has no bypass, and I prefer the sound of my HD28 to the effects pedal "clean" sound, so I use an ABY switch. The problem is that the effects pedal line has a preamp and the strait Martin line does not, so I was constantly struggling with volume changes. I needed a signal booster. This Spark Mini Boost is what I needed. I compared the sound of the average effects volume with the strait Martin lie and adjusted the Spark's volume dial to match. Life is simpler now. I love the pedal. It is narrow, so it doesn't take much room on a cramped pedal board. I like the feature that allows you to boost for a short period of time, and then release. In my setup it isn't needed, but I like the feature. If I needed another line booster, this is the one I would get.
Great addition to my pedal board
This pedal gives a perfect boost when I need to do a lead. No tone changes or added distortion. Just a louder version of my sound.
Acoustic
I use this for my live acoustic solos. I loop with the 720 EH Stereo looper. So much better than I what I was using. Xotic EP booster is too much, even when the volume turned all the way down it was too loud and it changes the tone too much. Good for electric but horrible for acoustic. The spark doesn't change the tone or crank the volume at a low setting, it's just perfect for what I need.
Yep
This is a great product that does exactly what it is designed to do nothing more nothing less. If this a pedal you need it's worth every penny of it. And as always a ton of help at Sweetwater.
The best boost pedal I've ever tried
The best boost pedal I've ever tried
Nice boost pedal
Use with clean amp setting and growl away, one knob for volume strength.
Excellent Clean, Quiet Boost at a Great Price
I've put this at the end of my chain after distortion and a tube screamer. Awesome at providing a good, clean boost without coloring the sound. Gives a nice clean crystal push to either a clean run or the distorted output. You can of course put it in front of the chain and push it that way, either is great.
I especially love it's a tiny footprint, affordable, dead quite in my chain (unless maxed with distortion in front of it) and operates flawlessly.. This is a no brainer purchase every guitarist should make day 1. Thanks Brandon for the recommendation and help. Sweetwater is amazeballs.
Majic elixir for amps with gain
Have a Marshall ?
Buy it. Yes clean it offers +20db of boost. Where is shines is boosting a Marshall with gain. Adds mids and low mids to your guitar !
But only 5 to 10 db with gain.
All you need for solo boost.
T. C. Spark
Love this little pedal! Does what I need it to, just a nice clean boost for whatever sound I'm using. It has plenty of boost. I just turn it up a little bit for fills and solos. It is well built, super quiet, and the latching option is perfect for fills.
Dynamite!
This gadget is small. Its footprint is smaller than a pack of cards. It has rubber feet to keep it from moving around. It does one thing, it boosts your sound up to 20db. I use it when I play to boost the sound when I finger-pick. I play in a couple of small venues and I play songs from 1922 to 2022. I use a pick on many songs but some are best-played finger-style. I can boost the volume quickly to make the finger-picked songs loud enough to be heard and turn the sound down when going back to a pick. I like it.
SPARK it up!!
This little box has some HUGE surprises!! Sooooper ultra clean boost!! Adds more crunch or less depending what I need, and where in the pedal chain I use it!!
EXACTLY WHAT MY ACOUSTIC PEDALBOARD NEEDED!
I was looking for a smaller sized pedal to fit my acoustic board and give me just a little bit of that extra PUNCH when I needed it. The Spark-Mini by TC Electronics was a PERFECT FIT. I keep my EQ pedal "always on" to dial in the tone I am looking for and to quiet the "quack" of the piezo pickup, so the SPARK-Mini is used to BOOST my leads and even just as a bit of boost for the chorus in a song.
Perfect pedal at the perfect price....and once again, SWEETWATER had everything I needed. With the addition of an octave pedal, my acoustic board is complete....for now !
Shocking!
Only had this a few days, but so far….wow!
1. My electric 12-string through Vox amp absolutely sings… all the jangle on full display.
2. This pedal at 3 o'clock into a dimed Marshall Origin: instant Angus.
3. Put this pedal before Big Muff Pi pedal (fuzz) and it sounded like an imaginary blanket had been removed from the speaker cabinet… breathed so much life into the tone.
Awesome Pedal in Minimal Space!
Great little boost! Didn't color my sound and provides loads of power at the tap of a pedal! Greater still that it takes so little space on the pedalboard!
Fantastic versatile pedal
Best bucks I ever spent. This little pedal is a gem. It's very quiet, no humming or hissing and it sounds great, and there are several ways to use it. Turn the level up and you get a great crunch tone and I love the fact that you can press and hold the button in to give you a boost for a quick riff or solo thing or whatever you fancy, very versatile. I'm on that quest to find a tube amp that sounds great at bedroom levels so I wanted something to give a little enhancement to my clean tone, I thought I'd give this little pedal a try because it's so inexpensive. Wow, I was quite surprised with this one I love it. Currently I'm running a blackstar ht5rh in the .5 watt mode on the clean channel, out front it goes: guitar/wah/tc mini spark/revv g3 in the loop I have a whirwind 10 band eq/mxr carbon copy delay/looper. And thats it. I'm able to get great tones at quite low levels, my wife works from home in the next room over and it doesn't bother her. I keep the level turned down on the spark mini and it gives a little extra something to the cleans, sounds great. I leave it on and run the revv over top of it, you get some great metal tones. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how I was using it. You can't go wrong with this pedal, if your looking for a clean boost this will do the job quite impressively.
It does it's job well.
1. The switch is silent
2. Does not color my tone except for a little top end clarity (I find that expectable in a boost)
3. Works well at both pushing drive pedals and as a clean boost.
4. The metal frame is well constructed (I have only had it for a few weeks so can not swear to its durability but it
certainly appears rugged).
I give the Spark five stars because I wanted a no frills boost that did not eat up a lot of space on my pedal board or vastly alter my EQ and the little guy does that job. What more could I ask for at such a low price point.
Nice boost pedal
Increases volume and can turn a clean channel to overdrive, does not work with distortion in case you where wondering as is the case with boost pedals, compact size, thanks to Nathan K at Sweetwater for his help.
Just buy it already!
Initially intended to buy an Xotic EP Booster because I wanted to try the Echoplex thing out, but saw this little guy and figured...why not? I like it so much, I don't see the point in ordering the EP Booster anymore! Hits the front end of my Soldano in a way no overdrive has yet, and with no noise. Works equally well in front of my OCD pedal for a lead boost. And to all the people whining about the switch not clicking...whatever. I like that about the TC stuff and wish all pedal companies would make their switches "clickless". Great value, just buy it already! Thanks TC and Sweetwater!
Great clean boost!
I use this in the loop of a bassbreaker 30r for a volume boost - tried others and this one works best for me - nice uncolored clean boost and the feature that allows it to be temporarily engaged by holding down the switch is awesome - highly recommend!
Best booster in it's class
Tested several top-tier boosters against this pedal. Keeley Katana mini, JHS Prestige, Catalinbread Chili Picoso. 2 Jfet boosts and a Mosfet boost, all with great reputations.
The spark outperformed all of them in every way. Granted, the others have their uses, but for a simple CLEAN (No EQ added whatsoever) boost with NO HISS. Spark cannot be beat.
The spark is an Op-amp based booster, like the Wampler Db, and starts at unity gain, like the Prestige, but unlike JHS's pedal, when you tap on the switch with the knob turned completely down, it is entirely noiseless but charges and buffers your signal. It doesn't "add treble" as some say, it's just that other boosts roll off highs or boost mids to achieve 'warmth'. With the knob at 12' o clock, it begins to distort with your amp nicely, without any noise or hiss added from the pedal. The quality of this distortion is gear dependent because as far as I can tell, this pedal is a completely neutral boost. Though it's listed as only +20db, because it starts at unity you actually get more gain availability than others like the Katana, which doesn't hit unity until 11 or 12 or clock. All other boosts had significantly higher hiss with the knob at unity.
I do not care about the momentary latching system as I don't use it really for my style of music. But if you are a Jazz player or someone who uses and appreciates space and silent passages, this pedal is a godsend because it is one of the only boosts I've played that is truly noiseless. I use it behind my Purple Mojo overdrive (keeping the drive low), so I can keep the volume knob on my guitar down, and raise the volume for natural tube overdrive with my Pro Jr.
Some people may look down on TC since they are a very successful and prolific company, but it's important to remember that these pedals are designed in Germany by teams of very intelligent people. Look past the price and the visuals and trust your ears. This is the one.
What I needed
I've never used a standalone booster, but I've used the boost function on the Platinum Pro EQ and Baggs Venue. This seems to do exactly what I need it to do. Clean sound. No bells and whistles, but none are needed. The price, size, and functionality are perfect for my use. I'm using with acoustic guitars and don't notice any coloring of the sound - just db boosting.
Great Boost
Just what I was looking for definitely getting the best bang for your buck.
Cherry on top
I've been looking for a reliable boost that would elevate lead parts for live performances and this was the spark I needed. There's a lot power from this little guy so I am very happy with the outcome. I also love the tone it adds to my sound. It's crisp without edging into too much brightness. The hold press for momentary boost is also clutch. All around very impressed.
Punchy!
This pedal does a great job providing the boost you need! And you don't have to crank it!
Very natural tube sound.
This is similar to ep boost. But better to my ears. Works better boosting an amp the already has jmp gain. The ep boost might work better with blackface fender. But this spark adds to a Jmp gain amp.
Clean and quiet boost
Previously, I was using a Pigtronix Class A boost which developed quite a noise when engaged (even using it with the provided power supply.) After reading multiple reviews,I decided to give the Spark a try. I couldn't be more pleased. Way more than enough gain, very little sound coloration and the switch has the option to permanently engage or temporarily engage. It is a small footprint on the pedalboard. My only wish would be a different color LED as the off white doesn't jump out at me like a blue or red would. Also, I get an occasional mild (electronic) pop when pressing the pedal
Buy It
Been using the Spark for about a month now. It is now the foundation for my clean sound. Not as "transparent" as it claims. If you're looking for a simple volume boost, buy a volume pedal. This gives a really pleasant boost to the low end that fills out your tone in a really incredible way. I pair it with another overdrive pedal (JHS Morning Glory or MXR Badass OD) and it's magical. It works in harmony with all my pedals including fuzz. Due to its size, sound, and functionality, the Mini Spark will likely never leave my board. Essentially a perfect device, and quickly becoming the most important part of my pedal board.
Awesome little pedal!
My next pedal i needed for my collection was a boost. At first I couldn't decide if I should get the mini or the bigger one. I did some research and decide to go with the mini. Lets just say this is a great pedal. You can leave it on for a while song and it will enhance your tone or just click it on for a solo. Overall a great pedal that I would definitely recommend.
Perfect little boost
I normally subscribe to the "more knobs are better" philosophy of pedals, so after I ordered this little guy, I immediately wished I had purchased the full-size one with bass/treble/gain/boost-type toggle for just a little more money. But, it turns out this one was dialed in for a nice clean boost just the way I like, and I use a couple other pedals for EQ and tone/boost so it is just right! I thought I really did not need another clean boost, but this one adds yet another nice little tone improvement without coloring at all, just a little dimensional element that was not there before, in a small footprint. The temporary hold/boost function is nice as well, though I find I use it as an "always on" pedal, making a small solid state amp sound a big bigger/more expensive. Plays nice with other boost/preamp/OD/distortion pedals as well, it's a keeper!
Amazingly good!
It's small and it works great. I can't hear any difference in tone, but your amp will love the extra boost in signal. So simple, so perfect.
Can’t start a fire without a Spark
I got one of these as a gift for someone and I made the mistake of trying it out on my board. Now I have to order another one. This is a great little boost. Put it at the end off your chain for a bump in volume for solos. I also like it by itself going into the front of a single channel amp. Adds a little oomph to quieter pedals, or helps that guitar with lower output pickups. Killer.
SPARK BOOSTER!!
This is a awesome pedal.
Simple use with affordable price
Awesome boost. COOLER SWITCH THAN YOU THINK
Love this little boost. Simple. Great for boosting into an amp for more breakup, or before gain pedals for same effect.
I love it though as a master boost, at the end of my pedal board signal chain.
ThAT FOOTSWITCH! It's intelligent? It can sense if you click it, or hold it. Click it and it's on. Click again, it's off.
But.... play a lead riff, and step on it when you do that epic bend, - the boost engages, but stops once you take your foot off.
Love the TC approach. Always check on the footswitches with them - they often do extra stuff (look up the "mash function" on their pedals!)
Great pedal
It was just as advertised. I use it as a solo boost and I placed it in my effects loop. It does exactly what I need it to do.
My favorite boost
Ive owned the electro harmonix lpb1, mxr micro amp and the tc electronics spark mini boost. This is by far my favorite! This is on my board full time!
Great Pedal
If you are looking for a functional, simple boost look no further. I've used a number of boost and overdrive devices over the years and found this to be the best one for simply boosting what you are playing without adding a lot of additional unintended color. I can be playing clean and come to a solo that want to boost but remain clean or possibly dirty up just a bit and this pedal will do just that. You control the pedal, it doesn't dictate to you what you will get. Do experiment with where you put it in your line up because it can have an impact. Not saying there is a right or wrong place but depending on what you like or what your goals are you may get better results by moving it around. I personally found having it in the front closer to the guitar works best for me. I also found I can use it to balance out guitars with different pick up outputs. I can play my Les Paul and switch to my telecaster, step on the Spark and volume outputs are matched. No running to the amp or twisting knobs on the guitar to get things to balance out.
Mini Spark booster
Works great, exactly what I was looking for, quality made too!
Spark is clean and transparent
Nice boost, I like the hold function too.
Booster Pedal
This pedal is exactly what I've been looking for. It has a nice clean boost with plenty of headroom.
Great pedal
It's never turned off
spark
Works great!
Great Value - Does the job!
I love the simplicity of this pedal, and it does it's job really well.
Simple Boost Pedal that Won't Break the Bank
For live performances, I wanted to be able to boost lead volume without having a rhythm volume that drowned out everything else. This pedal has TWO uses! If placed before a distortion pedal, it will boost the distortion even more! If placed at the end of the signal chain, it will boost overall volume without coloring the tone, which is what I use it for! At this price you cannot go wrong! Works like a champ!
LOUD
This is a spectacular boost pedal! Doesn't color your tone at all and it's super loud!! The price is definitely a plus as well.
Simple is the best
Works great going into an overdrive pedal or at the end of the effects chain. Quality build with solid feel even at the mini size format. Highly recommended.
Spark mini boost
Best pedal I've bought in years. Not just a volume boost, but expands the tone of the amp by boosting tonal qualities of the guitar, especially a strat. Cheap enough to buy two, one for backup. Love it. It stays on all the time, get one!
Marvelous little boost pedal
This is an incredible little pedal. It won't break the bank and it can improve your sound. Originally bought it to punch through on solos. However, it transformed the sound of a D-style pedal through a clean channel amp. The D-pedal sounded great with single coils on a hollow body. For fun I put the Spark mini in front of the D-pedal and set the boost around 10 o'clock. Viola! Excellent AC/DC rhythm tones without needing a mortgage for a vintage Plexi. Would buy the Spark mini again.
The Spark mini boost
Like many players, i use multiple guitars, guitars for clean, distortion, for different genres. Active and passive pickups, humbuckers and single coils, primarily i wanted a boost to volume-match single coils. Using amps from Marshall and Mesa i really did not need or want an overdrive, and the boosts i was using all had overdrive which i ended up engaging because it was the only way to get the full power of the boost. So i began searching for a clean boost and found this awesome little pedal from tc electronics. One knob, 20db and even a momentary hold-down feature if you only need to boost a phrase or two. It matches the output of my strat pups with any humbucker and the tone does not change! But then i realized it also makes pretty much every guitar i have, and i got quite a few, sound better! I use it all the time now and will probably be buying a second one for live applications. The price is incredible and i will be trying more tc electronic items in the near future.
My Review
Just exactly what I needed to boost my rig !! cheers
Great pedal
Just what I was looking for. It works great.
The Biggest No-Brainer Ever
For the $, I can't imagine any single item you could add to your signal that could improve tone more. I feel like this might stop a lot of us from shopping for fancier pickups and amps. Just amazing how much sparkle and clarity and punch is available when you're simply allowed to hit the amp a little harder, its like pushing away the cobwebs. I don't have a ton of experience with clean boost and I'm sure there are many other good ones, its a pretty simple concept. I can't imagine a better value existing though, wow!
Yep!
Love it!!!
The one I've been searching for
I literally have more than a dozen boost pedals and all of them work fairly well. But I was still searching for that absolutely clean boost that takes my signal and gives it more volume for solos without changing the tone at all. And this is it! As Survivor said in the 80s, "The Search Is Over!"
Multi use pedal
In addition to being a great boost for solos, it's also a nice way to fatten up your acoustic guitar sound.
It's also a great fix if you have an acoustic guitar with a passive pickup that doesn't have enough volume without a preamp. Get a battery adapter and carry it to open mic with you...
Finally get the low end I want without muddy highs
Wow, I love this thing. My bass is always cranked on the amp and love the front pickup for a really thick, strong low end sound. That always leaves the highs just not as good as one might want. This thing helps those highs still sound wonderful in that configuration. Now, I think I can experiment with turning the bass down on the amp a bit since this pedal just makes your whole dynamics so much MORE. To me this makes every tone adjustment I can make less necessary and worth more with less. My pedals love getting fed by this thing, and the eq on the amp actually works for a change. Heck, ya.
TC SPARK
This is the spark your tube amp needs this compact little beauty can kick your amp into over drive with a clean tone no distortion or colorized sounds it just boost whatever you're running through it I have it at the end of my chain on my board and everything on my pedalboard sounds great with this little gem the momentary latching switch is just another great feature to a very affordable boost pedal get one for yourself today you will be very happy with this pedal as all the reviews have stated five stars across the board
It gives you a nice clean boost
Very happy with this pedal, I'm a keyboard player. I used masking tape to hold the dial in place once I found the perfect level of boost for solos. Thats one thing I think all pedal manufactures should think about doing, making pots that click to position. It's just so easy in live performance to accidentally change the level with your foot, but masking tape works and leaves no marks. This pedal is something I really needed, it does the job well and the price is nice
Big sound(s) in a small package
This pedal is amazing! Being a huge Brian May fan and being on a limited budget, I want something to give my guitar an extra jolt, and I was not disappointed! This thing is killer, and for an awesome price it can't be beat! TC Electric rocks
What I’ve been searching for
One thing I discovered very late in my playing days was something most guitarists have known for years....when playing with other musicians, especially drummers, "cutting through the mix" is essential, and not as easy as I once thought. This pedal changed everything for me. No coloration, no distortion, just more beautiful volume. The Spark truly takes whatever you're doing and makes it loud and crisp. For the price, you can't do much better.
Amazing Mini Boost Pedal
There is a reason this pedal has 101 five star reviews (102 counting mine). There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said by all the other reviewers, read their reviews and see how awesome this pedal is. They love theirs and I love mine! Seriously, get this pedal, you won't regret it.
Add some SPARK to your Acoustic!
I got my SPARK mini-booster a couple of weeks ago, and it works great. It has "True Bypass" and the quietly transparent operation that we've come to expect from TC Electronics. Now I play a Taylor acoustic along with background tracks for a "one-man-band" type of show, and it has been a problem to get my acoustic loud enough (without feedback) in the right spots for leads and fillers. The really cool feature that sold me on the SPARK was the dual operation of the switch: if you keep your foot on it, you have a non-latching switch WHICH TURNS ITSELF OFF WHEN YOU PULL OFF YOUR FOOT!!! In other words, you do not have to turn it off by clicking it again! I can just press and hold it to raise the level of a few notes, and then I am immediately back to my strumming volume when I remove my foot. Because I have a harmonizer, and a couple of other switches I have to sometimes work with my foot, not having to click off the SPARK makes all the difference. Oh, and if you click the switch quickly, it latches on like other pedals until you click it off. I only need to set the level at about 8:00 or so, and having that extra 5 or 6 dB in spots where I need it really adds a new dimension to my sound. If you need some extra clean volume here and there, give this baby a try!
With this pedal, TC means totally clean.
Thank you Jack at Sweetwater for your counsel on this one. I love using this pedal to push my tube amp over the edge when needed. Its at the end of my pedal chain and it just gives loads of volume to my existing tone in a small simple package. Love it!
Boost
This little pedal was just what I was needing. I have high gain amps (Marshall JVM & Hughes & Kettner so I was looking for clean volume boost for Solo's so wasn't sure if I needed it in front or in the f/x loop. Dimed it didn't raise the volume enough in front of the amp but if I lowered gain to the edge of breakup it did so I moved it to the f/x loop. I barely turn it on probably 8:30 on the dial and it increases my solos around 4 more decibels. I like it for not mudding up my sound but the best thing about this pedal is the switch. If I have a quick part where I need a volume boost I can just step on it for however long I want and when I remove my foot it turns off. It doesn't engage it where I have to stomp on it again. I think they call it a momentary switch but it functions just like a normal switch too, very cool.
Really great booster for solos
I was really quite surprised by how well this works for solos. Just putting it at 8 or 9 o'clock really increases the volume but keeps the tone clean. It was exactly what I was looking for. I did not want a boost that would add anymore gain or change the tone when I play lead parts. Also the pedal is inexpensive, small and built with a metal case. FYI- you will need to have a 9-volt adapter to use.
Amazing Dude!
Kyle was absolutely fantastic with helping me out with not only picking the right pedal for me, But also his customer service. I usually go through other companies but I am definitely a returning customer now :-)
Perfect little pedal
Ordered on Saturday, it arrived Monday afternoon. I took it to a gig Monday night, and it was exactly what I wanted and needed. I wasn't happy with my Morley Wah Volume pedal - wasn't giving my acoustic set-up enough boost during solos, plus it took up way too much real estate on my pedal board. I swapped it out before the gig and kept my fingers crossed when I plugged everything in. This little beauty is great. I dialed it back from 12:00 to 9:00, which provided the perfect amount of clean boost. Super easy to use, and I loved the option to hold your foot down on the switch for a quick boost then return to original volume without tapping it on and then off. Worked great for one tune where I just need an emphasis on a power chord. If you are looking for a way to boost your volume without changing your tone set-up, this thing is perfect!
Nice pedal.
This pedal is a perfect little addition to my other effects. If you solo, this is the booster to get.
Great Little Pedal
I debated and debated whether or not to buy this pedal. For the price it can’t be beat. I put it at the end of my pedals so I can have overall control of my volume going into our Bose system. When I switch from my Martin (which has a Fishman preamp) to my Strat, I needed something to bring the Strat up to the same level as the Martin. This works great without any loss of tone. I’ve had mixed results with other TC Electronic pedals and this has been my best experience by far. Thanks Zack Davidson and Sweetwater for the great and always consistent customer service.
CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did I Say Clean?
Preserves the sound of my high end acoustic and electric guitars.
THANK YOU TC, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN!
Perfect
Exactly what I needed. Small enough to fit on my pedal board, simple, easy to operate. Gives my bass a temporary boost for a quick run or to do a full solo. And excellent service from Sweetwater...of course!
Perfect
As advrrtised. A little or alot of clean gain. Very simple, sounds wonderful.
Sweetwater is the best. Great price and service
awesome clean boost
It's Really awesome true bypass clean boost Pedal.
Great Boost!
This pedal works great in multiple formats. I"ve used it for gigs in an acoustic based band using a Schecter CE-A hollow electric as a boost for leads using the acoustic pickup through a Bose line array set up and it works great. Gives a good clean volume boost. It also works fantastic as a lead boost on an Orange OR15. I run it with a LP studio with amp gain at around 11:00. This yield a good classic rock crunch and when you hit the boost it pushes the amp into a sweet lead tone without changing the tone of the amp. I would definitely recommend this pedal!
Very Impressed
I'm so glad that I pulled the trigger and bought this little pedal. It not only boost the signal and volume it improves the overall sound quality. Small pedal big sound, love it.
A good Thing in A Small Package
I initially bought the larger "full" Spark pedal. It had one flaw (for my particular use preference). The footswitch was LATCHING, so in order to punch up an instrument for a short solo or for just a brief passage I had to time two pedal presses perfectly. I switched (pun intended) to the MIni because it has the option to set the foootswitch to "MOMENTARY". So now I can step on it to start a boosted passage and the boost goes away when my foot comes off the pedal...less dancing, less looking down. I don"t miss the tone and volume controls that the larger Spark had at all. With the one volume control on the Mini I can get the bit of clean boost I want for my acoustic guitar and ukulele solos, and then for my Strat I can use it to push an amp gained just shy of breakup "over the edge". I am really pleased that TC Helicon is recently incorporating this switch mode feature in their more recent pedals. I am now looking at changing from a Voicetone H-1 to a Harmony Singer 2 for the same reason.
Clean Boost it is!!
Simply put this is exactly what it says it is...a clean boost. It didn"t effect my tone at all and gave a nice boost for solos. I put it last in my chain in the effect loop and it does a great job. For the price you can"t beat this pedal.
Perfect boost for most any situation
I've cycled through plenty of pedals like anyone else, but this one is here to stay. Use if for acoustic and electric guitar live performance and rehearsals. Wait, why did it take me so long to pick this up?
Great small pedal
I play acoustic guitar out with trio. I play lead on many songs. Nice to have boost pedal so dont have to reach and turn knob on guitar. I have used pedals in past but this one is compact and quiet. Happy that it works well and makes leads easier to hear.
Spark boost mini
Just what I needed to kick my little leads up and above.
You can hold the button for a quick boost up or just click it for longer boosts. Just what I needed !!
Spark mini
This little pedal completely exceeded expectations. Nice and clean, but plenty of dB to hone the edge of a mid gain amp. Perfect for a little organic grit in a pedal board, Thur list goes on. Great bang for the buck! Get one!
Should have gotten one years ago
Had it for a day and was able to try it with several combinations of guitars and amps and everything sounded better. Can't say enough good things about it so far. Seems dead silent, doesn't color the tone at all and has plenty of gain. It turned my old Egnater Tweaker 15 into a fire breathing monster in every mode that thing's got. With my Fender Telecaster it seemed like I had swapped it's single coil pickup for a hot humbucker but with all the top end of a single. Hard rock on a tele? Yep, can do it now. My strat was another issue. It still amplified a bunch of A/C hum and didn't sound as improved as my tele but when I dialed back from super-over-the-top high-gain mode, it still was able to make things sound better. Very nice pedal. Cleans sounded more in-your-face, crunch had a crispness and punchiness which was great, and high gain was outstanding. I was able to turn down the amp's gain switch which put it at a better place for it's tone stack (MB Single Recto in Raw mode down from my usual Vintage mode).
Wow
I just got it yesterday. I don't have to wait for a review. This thing is unbelievable. There is so much power wrapped up in this little bad boy, I currently have it set around 8 o'clock. That's right - 8 o'clock (and 6 is zero). Obviously, I'll tweak it once I'm playing at volume; but I was blown away at how much juice this little guy has. True bypass, and the temporary switch option is a fantastic bonus. No noise. No tone disruption. If you're teetering, don't. Grab one. ...it's fantastic!
I'm running a Tele with 2 humbuckess through a Fender Supersonic 22. I have a Tube Screamer and DS-1 in front, with the Spark Mini after the DS-1. I run chorus, flange, and delay through the effects loop. The Screamer and DS-1 give me just about everything I need on the clean side. I only use the dirt channel for my heavier stuff.
All pedals are Boss, unless otherwise noted. Here's my setup order (for those who care):
Compressor, Dunlop wah, Whammy, Tube Screamer, DS-1, TC Spark Mini - all out in front of the amp.
Tuner (moot point, but it's there), flange, chorus, delay - through the effects loop.
May not be everybody's cup of tea, but it workd for what I do.
TC electronic spark mini boost pedal
This pedal performs just like the ads and reviews said it would, gives me just enough volume boost for solos, intros, and endings. It does not alter the tone in any way. Very useful with the momentary feature, enjoying it for both Studio and gigs. Thanks to Greg for advice and direction at Sweetwater Music! Dave!
TC Mini Boost
I was looking for something to boost my signal when i play lead. This fits the bill: clean boost, easy to use. I can gain volume without distorting my sound or getting white noise. Great pedal and great service from Sweewater!
Spot on! Exactly what I wanted!
I wanted freedom from depending on my volume pedal skills to hit the exact sound level I needed for an accent or soloing. The Spark does it spot on and does not color the tone of my guitar. I love what you can do with the momentary switch. I have definitely become a TC Electronic fan over the past four years. It works well to give extra gnarl to your overdrive and distortion pedals too. Zero disappointment in this pedal and my son got one as well.
TC Mini Spark is the way to go.
Pure boos, no tone change. Quiet. Fabulous little pedal!
Just the Spark I needed
The Spark Mini Boost Pedal by TC Electronic gives a good amount of signal boost with plenty of headroom. It's extremely quiet and makes my guitar signal sparkle. I love it.
Better than advertised
The Spark Mini has a TON of boost. I really like the momentary/standard stomp circuit switching mechanism where the pedal automatically switches to a momentary boost when you hold down the switch.
The boost pedal becomes a gain boost pedal when the amp is on a gain channel, but when placed after an engaged overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedal, it becomes a clean boost.
It has waaaaay more volume than they tell you, like waaaaay more.
Overall probably the best value I've ever seen in a pedal.
Why Didn't I Get One Sooner
I had been using the boost setting on my Behringer Super Fuzz and picked this up to try it. It's more adjustable than the Super Fuzz. The Spark Mini doesn't take up much room on the board. It's almost like a secret sauce pedal.
Exactly as advertised!
Perfect clean boost! It gives you a ton of headroom, and fattens up your tone a bit. Best clean boost for the money, hands down...
Spark mini boost
I'm using the Spark to boost the signal from my effects loop in my Marshall JCM800 running into a TC GMajor2.
I wasn't getting enough signal and there was also a lot of background noise. This works great, cleaned it right up.
Takes it to 11!
I've been wanting a boost pedal for awhile. TC Electronics are all over my board: HyperGravity, mini poly tune, and Viscous Vibe. I just got a Vox AC15 but before that I also had a Hall of Fame mini. Also own a Nova Delay and Mojo Overdrive. ANYWAY, TC builds great and affordable pedals. This mini boost is silent and just makes the sound I have.....LOUDER. No added color or tone....just more volume. Great pedal, great deal, and great service by Sweetwater and my man Tyler!
Great Clean Boost
Works beautifully -- exactly as advertised -- 20db of clean boost. Well built, very small, no noise, and I absolutely love the "smart" foot switch. You can change it from a regular latch switch to a momentary switch simply by holding your foot down. Brilliant. Great price, exceptional value.
Perfect pedal
Awesome boost that is exactly your amps sound, turned to 2 or 3ish & has massive output,no click coming on thru the amp & no click on the pedal switch either it's silent so no noise click will be picked up& heard on recording, best boost for the
Great pedal
I had been planning on buying an EP Booster after Christmas but then I saw the price drop on the Spark Mini so I figured I would give it a shot. I am glad I did! I plugged it in, powered up my Marshall TSL, turned the spark to about 9 oclock and strummed an open E chord. Instant amazement! My HSS strat sounded so much more dynamic. The spark mini will definitely stay on my board. Also, thanks Chris for making my buying experience super easy and for the fast shipping. Ordered mid day on a Monday and received it Wednesday.
Simply Perfect - From A Professional Guitar Player
I've been playing for 35 years; performing session work, touring, and teaching. I've owned every boost imaginable from greats such as Analogman, Fulltone, Xotic, and the like, and NOTHING touches this little marvel. The richness, fullness, and pure tone that the Spark Mini adds to your solos that you "punch in" is simply dripping with total low-fidelity goodness. Worth every penny, and will NOT leave my board.
Spark Booster
Place this after your compressor in your signal chain to drive your overdrive and distortion pedals and you'll have the best signal to noise ratio (in my experience, anyway) performance. More than enough gain for most applications. Turn the knob to about 9 o'clock for a subtle boost for solos or to simply boost a weak signal from your instrument.
Bass Review
The Spark Mini is an amazing pedal. I use it at the end of my signal chain (before my Radial DI) to boost and add a very musical compression. When you hear it, your ears will be pleased. It does not color your tone very much at all, just makes it shine with a wonderful quality!
Quality clean boost
I've been playing keyboard, guitar, and bass for about ten years and I've found a lot of issues can be fixed with guitar or bass fx pedals.
I had bought the behringer deepmind 12 analog synthesizer which is an amazing instrument...but I was finding while creating some sounds I'd lose to much volume to the point I had the keyboard maxed on its internal volume.
I bought this and set it at about 9 o'clock and when I need it the Spark gives a transparent boost that does what it should. Highly recommended!
Simple but effective
I own the full size spark as well. I found I was only using the clean boost setting on the full spark so I bought this to save some space on my pedal board. I also have owned MXR Micro amp and Micro amp custom, as far as transparency I think the spark mini wins. It does exactly what it's designed to do which is give you more of whatever you have. I tried it in front of the amp and as a lead boost in the fx loop. You really have to go conservative in the loop with the gain... It gets LOUD real fast. In front of the amp is where I use and it give me a bit more drive and sustain but not in your face where I set it at the 9:00 position of the gain knob. On a clean amp setting it adds pretty much makes you louder and does not effect your tone unless there are effects involved......Then it matters which order the spark is in regard to the effects. I think the price for this unit is exactly where it should be and this is a nice addition to any rig.
Spark Mini Boost
I'm sorry I waited so long to grab this thing, but I'm happy I did. played with it last night and I'm very satisfied with how it beefs up my tone. Plus it's dead quite. It's size doesn't take much room on my pedal board and that's a +. I'll be using it this weekend fo shore!! Thanks SweetH2O & Chris Goldbach for always having my best interests in mind... now, what else can I buy..?.. Radial Tonebone.... so much gear - so little time...
LOVE IT!
I had an electric Martin guitar in the early 80's with a toggle preamp and just wanted to say this Spark is way better! The preamp gave me a little more gain, which I loved, but the ability to raise your level as high as you want is terrific! I used to take two guitars to my gigs because if I broke a string on my strat every string went out of tune. The Martin was great for rock songs. Anyway, this tiny pedal is on my secondary homemade pedalboard in front of a DF7 Digitech distortion factory, delay and chorus and I'm getting an unbelievably great sound. I use an od in front of a T-Rex distortion on my main board and it works well for me. This mini pedal is a very good buy and is solidly built. My thanks to Dylan Driscoll and all the guys in shipping! You are the best in the business by far!
My main boost pedal
Once again it is another glorious TC Electronic product. This is my main boost pedal and I love using it. I am using it after distortion effects to raise my volume on solo work. This mini dude is extremely handy when you use the momentary switch you raise your volume to play your 2 seconds solo passage and get back to rhythm as you move your foot off. This beast has more than enough volume so I'm using it on 10 o'clock.
Fantastic minI boost. Great momentary switch feature!
Fantastic boost for solos, tapping parts, coil tap/split , and to give your other pedals a little extra push. Looks fantastic, and is an extremely clean boost up untill about 10db (halfway) then you get a little more dirt which also sounds great. The momentary switch engages after what seems to be only 1.5 seconds and shuts off immediately after letting off, and that's extremely handy for solos and quick burst of needed volume. The only downside to the mini is that there's no battery, but that's hardly a complaint. The small size is great and its very easy to see on a dark stage being white and having a bright LED. The best boost available in my opinion. Paired with sweetwater incredible costumer service you won't be disappointed
Wonderful!
I play both bass and guitar in my band, and i needed a clean boost to tighten and enhance the lows. this pedal did even more than i expected it to. 5 stars.
Simply Amazing
Easily my favorite pedal! I run a Blackstar amp which has sweet overdrive sounds but this thing just adds another layer to my tone that I did not know my amp and guitar could reach. I was previously using it after my overdrive but I use it mostly to boost the overdrive from my amp. The momentary switch is the best part of this pedal. I am not one for dancing around pedals so this lets me just hold the pedal down for short licks, rifffs, solos, etc., or keep it on for louder parts.
TC Spark Mini 20dB Boost
I like it! It really kicks the sounds up quite a bit!
TC Electronic Spark Mini
TC Electronic Spark Mini is perfect for my setup. If you play single channel amps this gives a great warm signal boost for leads. glad I bought it. and let me say SweetWater is second to none with customer service. Dennis Konicki thank you for the follow up and service I orded it on Friday and recieved it Monday
with free shipping it dont get better than that folks.
Boostastic
Sweet bliss coming from my amp with this thing. Sounds great on its own as a tone enhancer, and adds a little grit with the right amp settings. I have mine after my ODs and yeah, boost it does. My volume knob is at 9 o clock, so there's plenty me juice packed in this bad boy.
Lots of bang for the buck
I bought this for a solo boost but quickly realized that the warmth it added to the tone meant it had to be on all the time. Guess I have to buy a second one for the boost.
Love This Boost
Boost without noise-what a concept. TC ROCKS!
Great little pedal
Easily the best $49 I've spent in a long time.
Quiet Little Booster
I saw a review of this booster on YouTube...at this price, I decided to give it a try as it does what I can't do physically, or with a volume pedal--precise volume boost. What truly amazed me was how quiet it is (even plugged into my vintage Fender amp, which is not quiet). You get the 20 dB boost every time, reliably, no fuss, reliably and precisely. This is just what I wanted. Works with my Tele and with the Baggs pickup on my Martin, so I couldn't find any fault with it. Way to go!
Buy two!
I use two of these little guys, one before my overdrive pedals, to give them a little extra grit, and one after my overdrives as an overall volume boost. The results are fantastic with both functions. I primarily play a stratocaster through a 1982 Marshall JCM800, and this pedal combined with that rig gives a fat ballsy sound. I love the latching and temporary functions on the footswitch too. I own 4 TC Electronics pedals and they never disappoint; I'd highly recommend checking this one out; you'll get lots of bang for your buck!
Spark
Great product and would recommend to any one using a distortion pedal. It will give u the boost for your leads.
Tc electronics spark mini
TC electronics spark Mini is a great Little secret weapon that should be on any guitarist pedal board. It's more than just a boost pedal, it just does something extra for your tone! I really love this little pedal and would highly recommend it.
Tc spark mini
This pedal is a must have! The simple one knob set up surprisingly offers 3 different functions. Buffer, clean boost & turn it past about 1 o'clock you start to get a nice subtle break-up. Hold and release of the stomp button gives you your volume jump for those accentuated lead parts or beefier rhythms. I run it after a fulltone fatboost, wampler tom quayle sig pedal, andy timmons sig pedal & a mad proff golden cello. It performs superbly in any combination and setting. Shout out to my sales rep Anthony Jenkins for the awesome service and fast delivery as always!
TC Spark
Does exactly what expected
Need more cowbell?
Why did I buy this? I built a Marshall JTM45 (closer to 1987 circuit) style tube amp that I love. It has great crunch and blah blah blah. Even though I love the amp, I feel that for my playing style it's missing something. That something is found in this little $50 Spark booster... I use a a Boss overdrive and distortion pedal from time to time when I need more front end, but they strip away the lower mids & bass frequencies which fine when everyone is playing at good volume and no one can hear the sonic nuances happening.... But why lose half your tone just to melt faces off???
For two years I've considered building another amp that has the best of both worlds and I still might, but let me just say this... This stupid $50 pedal is absolutely %$@#'ing AMAZING! It DOES NOT CHANGE YOUR TONE! It simply gives you MORE when you need more. Every guitar player on the planet should have this in their gig bag. I should have bought this years ago. I allows me to push my preamp from a JTM45 straight into sounding and reacting like a 1968 Super Lead. Love Love Love this thing.
If you have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell, then buy this right now. Worth noting that you'll need a power supply to use it because it's a MINI pedal with no battery compartment.
I recommend this for all electric guitar players of all styles. The dual mode foot switch is killer because there are many moments where you're steaming along perfectly and during an inspiring solo sometimes you don't want to boost the whole thing because you'd rather cut though momentarily during a high point--you can hold your foot on the switch and it will boost and it will return when you take your foot off.
Just buy it and enjoy more cowbell.
Perfect Volume Boost
I use the Spark as a volume boost at the end of my pedal chain and it works perfectly without adding noise to my signal. I replaced a different brand boost pedal due to the loud click of the foot switch. The Spark switch is smooth and quiet. I highly recommend this pedal.
THE BEST
As a full time musician who tries different pedals all the time, this little guy is amazing. The sound of a VERY BIG pedal in a small box. Takes all the thinking out of EQing the pedal when the internal EQ is already set. With one knob, there's nothing to screw up. It's idiot proof. Turn it up or turn it down, done! Sounds just like your guitar when you kick it on, just a whole lot more of it!
Mega Boost Baby!
This thing is amazing! Put it after your dirt pedals and this thing is pure volume. More than you would ever need. I only have to run it at 9 o'clock to get ample boost for my solos. Before the dirt gives just the right amount of balls. I love it and you will too. The momentary switch is the bomb for a quick little jump in volume without pedal dancing.
So simple, so useful
Despite the Spark Mini's simplicity, which remains true to TC Electronics' core values, it is useful in so many ways! The momentary switch that you can hold down for more than a second to play accentuated licks is a brilliant feature, for one. Also, I am a strat guy, so I love running mine on all the time to give the mids a little extra punch and to get my amp right at the magic break up point. I actually plan to purchase a second one to put on my board just for a volume boost in solos. So in summary, buy two of these, haha: one to boost your single coils' tone a bit and make your dirt pedals even grittier and another to kick on for solos for that volume bump you need to get over your heavy handed drummer. You won't regret it, promise!
Super Pedal...One Knob?
This pedal is great in so many ways. The first is that it looks great! Next is that within a one knob, one switch pedal, there are tricks. A momentary switch lies within so you can hop in and out of a solo/lead quickly and the +20db boost is nothing to play around with!
Follow TC on Facebook and join their group. Many TC staff are in there and always able to give tips, tricks, and advice. For instance, this pedal is like it's older brother but with the gain around 9 o'clock giving you a nice clean boost with just enough grit.
Check it out!
Nice clean boost
This is great for a crystal clean sound. Eg... Use it on the clean intro to tune like " Pull me under" by Dream Theater and it really shines through. Would not rec on distorted or gain sound. For a one dial pedal it sounds great. Anything I have ever bought from TC is of highest quality and tone. The switch is very soft. Actually in a small recording room I like this because in those soft clear sections of recording the room mic won't pick up the little click to turn it on and off. The graphics are neat too.
Great circuitry with a small footprint
This is an amazing pedal for many different applications. I, personally, put it after my drives and before my delay, reverb, etc. and I use it to boost my volume for leads and solos. I don't even have the knob set to 1/4 the way up, and I get a nice transition between my normal playing and soloing. The feature that allows you to hold it down for short bursts of volume was a great addition. I have nothing bad to say about the pedal. If you are thinking about it and could use it, it is a great buy.
Great clean boost
This pedal does what it advertises! Great clean boost with a TON of headroom.
Great!
This has quickly become one of m favorite pedals on my board. The one job that it does is performed well, giving my sound an extra layer of dirt. While the tone is great, my favorite thing about this pedal is the volume control it gives me, which is much needed in my two guitar player band. I highly recommend this pedal.
TC Electronic Spark Mini 20dB Boost Pedal
I can not say enough about this pedal! Best boost I have ever used!
You Can Not Go Wrong With This! Buy It!
Great Boost!
This is a great little pedal. Clean and powerful. I've used it on both sides of my preamp signal chain. I'll probably wind up getting another one to have both ends covered for drive and lead level boost.
TC Electronic Spark Mini 20dB Boost Pedal
Nothing to dislike. Everything to love. Minimum real estate required. Momentary latch switch should be standard fair on every pedal in the world. It's that cool. I set it @ 9 o'clock. On my amp's clean channel it gets louder but stays clean. On the drive channel it gets louder and ups the distortion just enough. No added coloration. If I could only have one pedal, this might be the one.
Transparent
I use this pedal set to 12 o'clock straight up, and at this setting it is completely transparent, the only pedal out of hundreds I've owned or tried that I can say this about. At higher settings, you can get some nice, creamy saturation out of it, but I don't really use it for that type of sound.
Highly recommended.
Gives me the Spark to burn
Just what I wanted a nice boost to solo and play lead lines. For me I'm putting this after my RMC Polydeive II preamp for RMC pickups then to a Fishman Aura Nylon Strings then there's a few pedals befor hitting the Digitech Looper. The main reason for this pedal for me was so I could play and record the rhythm loops and then boost so melody, leads would stand out over the recorded loops. No tone change just a spark/ boost and works prefect with my guitar set up with RMC pickups. Great for nylon strings playes who need to boost the signal. Thanks SW Mark Magdich x1265 and his assistant, UPS and TC Electronics
Great Boost
I needed a boost to bring up the volume of my single coil pickups to match my active humbuckers. It also works great as a solo boost. This boost is completely transparent. I tried other boost pedals that give you a boost even with the level all the way down, and the problem with that is that I had too much boost which didn't work for me at all. The spark mini gives you zero boost with the level all the way down. This is a good way to hear the transparency of this pedal. The on/off switch also has a feature which allows you to have a momentary boost, such as for a quick fill in between vocal lines in a verse or chorus. You can hold the switch down for as long as you need the boost and then let off, or for a solo you can quickly tap the toggle switch and the boost is on until you click it again to turn it off. This is a really nice pedal!
Mini Spark
Works exactly as described and has super clean boost. The prime time switching is an fantastic, what a bonus feature!
Big BOOM
I wasn't expecting such a good pedal when I bought it. for its price it is perfect its a boost and just that it pushes whatever is infront of it greatly. I use it live for church and normally don't turn it past 9:30
it makes your leads stand out and brings out the best of your guitar and tubes. at 0 it is at unity gain I believe and for those of you that don't know every 10db is double amplitude(signal strength in this case) so this pedal quadruples your signals power. it appears to boost the high ends slightly when its the only pedal on but I think that's more or less it boosting what my guitar should sound like if it wasn't for my long signal chain, anyways its great the latch function is super useful for short leads inbetween verses or from a big chorus into a soft verse. Its also helpful in that it can expand your dynamic range. its great just back off your picking and your tubes can sound clean then dig in and it will make them scream great pedal true bypass a lot cheaper than most good boost and it sounds great highly recommended
Absolutely great pedal.
I have three clean boosters now. An Xotic EP Booster, a Pigtronix Class A Clean boost and now this TC Electronics Spark Mini Booster. They are all "clean boosters", but each has its own nuances. The Xotic EP and Pigtronix both color the sound just a bit. The EP booster emulates the old Echoplex tube warmth ... which changes things just a bit. The Pigtronix slightly emphasizes the highs.
The TC Spark is utterly transparent, absolutely clean. It is a fantastic little booster. And the momentary switch capability is an absolute dream for punching up just one line or one phrase. Can't recommend this booster highly enough!
Does what its supposed
I love this pedal. It does exactly what its supposed to do and I love the momentary/Latch Switching Modes. basically you can depress the switch and hold it down to keep the spark triggered instead of a constant on by pressing and releasing.
The size is the other factor and it takes up very little space. All in all I am really pleased with this pedal. I own 5 TC pedals now (tuner included) and I couldn't be happier with the quality and tone. TC Rocks!
Nice boost
I bought this to use mostly for volume bumps when needed, which is when I roll back the volume a lot to clean up my guitar. It does add some coloring, which isn't a bad thing depending on your rig. It adds a little bass and fullness. It also works well when stacking it into an OD. Especially with an OD that takes off some bottom end and really bumps the mids.
Tc Electronic Spark Mini
Tough to beat for the price, works great way more boost than I even need. I use it at the end of my effects chain for overall boost and it works great
Very goof pedal
Has worked flawlessly for about five (5) years now.
I normally sweep the potentiometer between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock based on the situation. Very clean at the 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock positions.
Really nice when used to, "wake an overdrive pedal up."
Can be an, "always on" pedal in lower settings.
Wish that it could be opened and powered with a 9 volt battery.
Nice Pedal
This little boost pedal does it right. And the boost-while-you-press feature is perfect for Turn-Arounds or other short-lived musical phrases. It's clean and clear and has a BIG boost level if needed, but works just as well for those Slight increases.
It's well made, cute, small, and I def do NOT like the artwork, but who cares? I don't buy pedals for how they look.
TC Electronics Spark
Works great. Works as described. I like it alot. I use it for lead boost during live performances.
The only issue is that I had to remove the volume knob because if I accidentally bump the knob with my foot, the volume setting would get changed, and that's not acceptable during a live performance. I wish there was some simple way to lock the knob in place... Maybe a design where you have to pull up on the knob to turn it.
Transparent Boost
Plenty of boost available on this small footprint pedal. Like the latching feature, reminiscent of that feature on my old DD-3. Heard a friend's and liked it. Given the price, probably could have given it 5 stars.
Great Boost at a Great Price
Awesome sounding simple pedal that does exactly what it is supposed to. I use it to punch up through the mix during solos when playing live, but if it was up to me I'd leave it on all the time...a little bit of me dies every time I turn it off to go back to rhythm parts. Momentary switch is handy once you get a feel for the difference between the timing of the momentary vs latching switch.
Playing on the clean channel, putting it in front of the amp works great. BUT if I'm trying to boost the volume of the dirty channel it does almost nothing UNLESS IT IS IN THE FX LOOP, in which case the results are awesome... it can get really loud without adding gain.
Nice Boost
Nice boost pedal for a very reasonable price. Added (or boosted) a little noise to my setup, so had to make adjustments. Still a great little pedal and this issue may not effect your setup the same.
Awesome pedal
I used this pedal at live shows and it gives you a great volume boost for your clean channel. However, it has trouble boosting distortion volume. Its great for me since I don't use distortion often. I really like how you can use it two ways you can press it and turn it on or press and hold for a momentary boost then release the button to turn it off. It really works well for me in shows when I need that boost of volume. Highly recommend for those who play clean channel a lot.
A Must-Have!
Every guitarist should own a boost pedal and, IMHO, this is one of the best. Whether you want to push your overdrive to the next level or just get a nice clean boost, this pedal will more than do the job. I have put it both in front of my overdrive and at the end of the signal, and I love it in both positions. Will probably buy another just so that I have both options readily available. And... why not?!
The only reason I gave it 4.5 stars was because it doesn't have a tone knob; but I'm not sure it even needs it because this is a pretty transparent pedal.
Get it and you'll be glad you did.
Spark it up
What an awesome mini pedal. Great look and sound it gives. I love having on when I need to get more to my clean sound.
My New Solo Pedal
Needed a pedal to boost my volume for solo's and parts. Didn't want an overdrive pedal with all the extra feedback or an EQ pedal with all the extra noise. Read reviews from many different sites and choose this one. Just received it and hooked it up and does just what it needs to do, boosts your volume with overdriving it. Awesome!
Clean Boost
I am using this as a clean volume boost for playing leads. The Spark Mini Boost does a great job in this role. This thing has plenty of gain to push your signal to the front of the mix. I really like the miniature size of this pedal as well as the cool graphics. Very simple to use and easy to fit on a pedal board. The Spark serves my purposes well.
Clean and cheap
Great clean boost in a very inexpensive package. It sounds great boosting straight into my Supro 2x12 at lower volumes, and gives some extra juice to my OCD and 808 for some nice overdrive.
*Cool feature: hold the switch down for boost and then release to drop it out. No double clicking.
Boost
This Spark Booster does what it says, gives you a clean boost. Great for cutting through the mix in a band setting and great way to boost your clean guitar tone also. I would almost say it fattens up you tone a bit. I would recommend this pedal to a friend.
Great Booster
Well, as Tore Mogensen said in the video for this pedal, it is extremely simple. But you'd be hard pressed to call it weak.
Let's first talk about non-sonic things: the teeny tiny size is great for cramming it onto pedalboards, the knob turns nicely and stays put, the LED is crazy bright, the art is very handsome, and the casing is rock solid. Not much more to say than that, but there really isn't anything to complain about either. Overall just a really solid pedal, also the one knob setup allows for easy foot adjustment of the level.
Now to sound matters. One knob and an on/off switch are all you get to control the mammoth 20db of boost on tap with this little beast; wound all the way up this thing provides a monsterous amount of gain, way way way beyond anything you'd ever need. The effect is instantaneous when the switch is hit and the silent switch eliminates any pops or slowed effect triggering. Which leads me to probably the best part of the Spark mini: the selective latching/momentary switch: with the latching switch you can easily just tap on the pedal and boost yourself easily into solo range (I've heard running it in the FX loop produces the cleanest of clean boosts with zero additional distortion to your sound), or use the momentary switch for fills and lead work when playing in a mix. For example: at a gig we were playing a song with tons of stop time and fills, as it turns out the other guitarist went AWOL so I had to play both parts, so thanks to the super fast normal-boosted-normal level transition of the spark I was able to be both the lead and the rhythm player and keep the dynamic shifts we had with the dual guitar setup (MAJOR lifesaver).
Now while this pedal is fantastic and a complete steal, there are some things I'd really love to see change in the future: the first is to have a little switch for color control, for example you can make the boosted signal slightly brighter or darker, or keep the coloration switch bypassed, as I have found that it really exaggerates the treble response on my amp, and maybe it's just my gear but at higher levels of preamp volume it creates this really grainy and screechy gain structure, with only a little boost this doesn't happen but as you go up this becomes more apparent.
All in all this is an awesome pedal and a great addition to any pedalboard.
The Oomph You Need
I just needed a little extra volume for solos without changing the color or character or the tone. Works flawlessly in this regard. I was slightly worried about the smart momentary/latch mode switch... But WOW! it works flawlessly. AND it's small... Easy to slip into even a crowed board. Love it!
Just What I Was Looking For
I was needing a clean, transparent boost pedal for my rig and I had a friend direct me towards the (regular) Spark. I loved the sound of his Spark but I didn't need all of the bells and whistles, so I gave the mini a shot and man -- I couldn't be any happier! It's simple, small, highly affordable, and it sounds amazing! It definitely lends a bit more crispness to the top end, but I've found this to help liven my tone and push me through the mix; it enhances my tone whether I'm going for a warm or a bright sound. The momentary switch is pretty cool too, though, I have yet to use it. If you're needing a top-quality boost, please do yourself a favor and get this!!!!
The TC Electronic Spark Mini 20dB Boost Pedal
Great little pedal
Good Boost for my Srat
This pedal provides a great boost for my american strat. It really beefed up the sound. I tried it with my Les Paul but it was way too much boost. I guess those humbuckers just didn't need the boost. Overall very pleased.
Excellent booster
As advertised. Does exactly what is says.
Good on either side of your chain to drive your amp into overdrive, or as a volume boost in the loop.
The latching/non latching feature is a great bonus for quick passages that you want to amp up! Love it!
Nice Clean Boost
I like this boost and how you can hold the button then release to deactivate it, instead of clicking on and off.
The only thing I dont like is how easy it is to turn the knob.
Mini Boost
Very transparent and super clean boost.
Small foot print and very cool graphics.
The latch function is brilliant, experiencing louder than expected audible noise pressing
on, more so than my other low gain /boosts pedals. But other than that super transparent boost.
Definitely the spark I needed!!!
I purchased this pedal for some extra boost when soloing and discovered this thing does wonders in other ways. It brings your guitar tones and EFX to another level of clarity. It just makes everything sound better. I don't want to turn it off, ever!!!
Crazy good!!!
So far so good
Haven't broken out in full band setting yet, but does everything expected in home set up! Really appreciate the two way use
Its great and does what it says, but the switch will die on you within a year if you gig regularly
I love this pedal. I'm here on the Sweetwater site to order my 3rd one (since 2018 that is). The only reason I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars, is the actual button/footswitch that you press on to activate the pedal, turning it off or on (or holding it down for temporary boost).
I'm sure its a relatively easy fix to replace it, but I've had that done with other pedals and they never functioned reliably for very long after the switch replacement. Not sure if there are levels of quality to this or if it should be expected that these (switches) will wear out on all pedals if you gig regularly.
That said, I have pedals I've used (heavily) for years that always turn on/off correctly when I press them.
With this Spark pedal (along with my Route-66 Dr Z overdrive pedal & my Brent Mason "Hot-Wired" overdrive pedal (Wampler), the buttons seem to wear out pretty quickly, and then either stop working for off/on entirely, or you have to press them multiple times from different angles to get them to turn on or off...its super frustrating when you're looping at a live show or trying to take a solo with full band on the electric.
All that said, the price of the Spark its not a big deal to buy another one, compared to the other pedals I mentioned. To be clear, I am a fan of all 3 of these pedals, I just with the freakin' foot switch would work reliably for at least a couple of years. Maybe I've had a run of crappy luck. I'm excited to get a new one out of the box that I know will do what I want it to do...at least for a while
Pretty good. Almost couldn't ask for more.
If I could go back I'd order the original full pedal with 4 knobs. (Level, tone etc). But this pedal does what it says. You just have to configure it correctly in your pedal board set up. It took some adjusting in my pedal rig to find out exactly where I should set it. It's a great pedal tho.
Not for me
This seems to be a good pedal. But it is not a pedal I need. I bought the Boss OC-3 that I needed more and can use it as a boost pedal. The Spark has great reviews and I agree but it's just not what needed.
Very nice for the price
It improves the volume and the tone. I like the "PrimeTime" switch, noiseless, none of those "click" that I loathe on a pedal switch.
It does increase the noise level when engaged, but I guess that is fair for any gain type of pedal. I group it with my other noisy pedals in a noise gate loop.
Great Pedal
This pedal does exactly what it says. I play at a church where there are typically 2 electric guitarists. I'm usually the lead guitarist, so I bought this to boost any lead parts that are supposed to stand out. This pedal does that perfectly, and is capable of MUCH more.
Solid Boost Option
Not a lot to say here. It does exactly as advertised. You basically have an on or off option and a boost level. I haven't used the momentary mode yet, but seems like a good feature that I likely will use.
It really is transparent and good sounding. I am pretty much using it as a lead boost, but I can see why someone might use it all the time to just add more juice. It definitely sounds good.
Obviously it eats up very little pedal board room, so it is a great option if you just need an extra bunch every now and then.
For the record, 20dB is a HUGE amount of boost and should be more than you need. I pretty much have the level at just under 9 O'clock and it is a huge volume jump for my leads.
I am kind of wishing there was some way to change color a little bit. It seems like they could have had the "Fat" switch or other tone modifier as internal dip switches like other mini pedals do.
If you need a boost look no further
Great little boost. Nothing flashy and does what it needs to. Just be careful and set the dial to about 9 o'clock (or lower) to start with.
Simple is good
Used up front it gives a nice thickness to clean tones and extra squeal to drive channels. In the loop it works as a clean volume boost. Of all my pedeals, it is on the most.
Good unit
The boost is remarkably clean and true to the original signal. For my purposes, I've not had to take it past the 9 o'clock point. 20 dB is a LOT of gain.
I'm not a pedal-board guy. I work with electric 12 and a Janglebox compressor run pretty high and needed a bit of boost for lead breaks so this works out nicely.
Having said that, this particular pedal will take a bit of getting used to. The momentary feature is probably useful, but for myself I miss a definite click in a tactile sense. The micro box housing I'll have to get used to as well. I've compensated by orienting it sideways so I'm not hitting the adjustment knob and that seems to do the trick for me. These shortcomings are obviously my own, but I thought this info may be useful. I'm glad I purchased this unit.
Nice booster
Small and to the point. 20db allows for some serious boosting. One small issue I've experienced with the TC mini pedals is the placement of the DC input jack. I believe this is an issue on my Spark and my recently purchased HOF reverb. It doesn't seem possible to align the pedals up evenly as the input jacks are too close to the DC input. Maybe I'm just not thinking this through properly, but it was a bit frustrating. Not an issue with TC's mini delay pedal, though. Regardless, solid sound and performance.
Exactly what I looking for!
Does exactly what it says. I have it after all of my overdrives, so it really is just giving me a clean boost, but I think it gives my lead tones that extra sparkle! Not much more I could want in a compact clean boost.
Mmmmm, meh
I really expected a little bit of dirt, you know SPARKly dirt at least on top volumes as shown in some review videos. This is simply a volume booster, it ads no color to your tone. Feels somewhat sturdy but the design is not the nicest, looks cheap ('cause it is) but it is really compact thou... Was about to ship it back but I gotta give some credit to TC Elec. That press on to bold up a phrase function is really very cool and useful. Mixed feelings, but I am keeping it.
Perfect until...
This was absolutely my favorite pedal until it wasn't. It does everything it's supposed to do and nothing it isn't. The boost is clean, 20db is more than enough boost and the standard/momentary switch is useful and easy to use. Setting this up at the end of my pedal chain allows me to push my amp into a little crunch or simply increase my volume for a solo. (Those of you complaining that it doesn't really increase your volume when going into a distorted channel should understand that no pedal is going to increase the volume that much in that position, it's just going to increase the gain going to the channel.)
So what's the down side? At my last show, it stopped working. The switch didn't switch. Looking for a fix, I discovered there really isn't one. Apparently, the switches are cheap and mounted to the circuit board so they can't be replaced.
So now I'm faced with a dilemma. Do I get another of the same and use it until it too breaks or do I pay more to get one I don't like as much?
Works great clean, but...
Tons of boost onboard this little guy... way more than I need. Having a weird issue though. It works beautifully on my clean channel, but when I kick in channel 2 for a little dirt I don't get any boost at all. Zero response. Was going to try putting it in the effects loop to see if that does anything but haven't gotten around to it yet. Because of this 3 outta 5; otherwise it would have been a 5 outta 5.
decent little pedal
This pedal is straight forward simple boost. It will alter your tone, it loses a touch of mids and increases the highs slightly. It doesn't make it crunchier, and that is a plus by me. I went with the full size spark booster instead.
TC Spark Boost
I like my Guitar CLEAN- with Reverb-(Country/Gospel),,,I'm getting a little DISTORTION with this Pedal.even at a low ratio set - the more I open the dial, the worse it gets. Was hoping to boost my Lead-signal when making a run on the lead part...Not a Happy Camper right now will continue to mess around with it a bit more to adjust the AMP for a cleaner setting...having to adjust guitar Volume a bit too much to ease out the Distortion i less desire...am using a Tele-guitar ...maybe this unit was designed to be used with some Fat -Humbuckers ...I'll TRY a Gretsch with it and maybe get somewhere with it...
Not clean, not much boost...
It sounds good and but its NOT clean or much louder for solos..... it literally is a tame version of a tube screamer imo, and just a smidge of louder volume? Just doesn't do the trick I was looking for but it sounds good. Distorts heavily cranked all the way . Sorry TC.
Extremely disappointed
Got pedal out of box and connected up to my bass and my amp. Bass and amp playing as normal sounding great. When I engage the Spark mini boost I get nothing but a loud hiss. That's the only sound I get. It's as if the pedal is acting as a mute. This will a partial review as I'll return this pedal for another one and do another review. Nearest UPS store is 45 miles away. Such a pain and waste of time. REALLY was counting on this pedal for Saturday.
