Old School DAW Is A Hot Rod Under The Hood
Received Sound Forge Pro 11 in a package deal purchased from Magix (Samplitude Pro X3), turns out be a top rate tool by all measures. Seamlessly flows back and forth with SpectraLayers, all one very smooth transition when working within Samplitude. This purchase was prompted by old friend Cakewalk's demise; we had just purchased a SONAR upgrade, needed to ponder the future course after that news. I used Sound Forge back in 2003-2004, also used ACID, so I have always kept a basic copy of ACID since those days. Magix offered a good deal on SF11 right when we needed it. It was like going back to 2004, but the looks fooled us. This is a serious DAW as well as a high-quality editor. Sound Forge can create excellent recordings, hand in hand with ACID or ACID-style loops. Fun and effective, loaded all my plugin goodies. The engine in this here DAW will leave many behind back there at the red light, don't under-estimate the level of upgrade Magix has put into their products. Proud user of Sound Forge Pro 11, love that WaveHammer.
Sony's Best
Very good program for finalizing and Mastering. Sound Forge Pro 11 has a bevy of tools at your disposal and some very excellent sample and bit rate conversion. The iZotope plugs are top notch especially the Master Multiband Compressor, EQ and Limiter. There are some very good plugs and tools from Sony also and of course you can always bring some of your own VSTs. I bought this strictly to process mixdowns and it does a fantastic job of cleaning up audio and bringing levels up to production levels. I run a mix in PreSonus Studio One and export full sample rate and bit depth into Sound Forge for final Mastering and conversion. The conversions I was getting out of DAWs (Sonar and Studio One) were not up to production levels and this was the ticket to transfer the pristine sounds inside the DAW to usable formats outside the DAW (MP3,CD, & Video) Great job Sony!
