Fender Sonoran Mini Acoustic Guitar - All Mahogany Reviews

6-string Acoustic Guitar with Mahogany Top, Back, and Sides, Nato Neck, and Walnut Fingerboard - Natural

There’s something special about the Fender Sonoran Mini. It comes equipped with a scaled-down, all-mahogany body that’s capable of producing a meaty, present tone to rival its full-sized brethren. A nato neck and 24.1-inch scale length combine for silky-smooth playability that’s easy on the fingers. The Sonoran Mini’s accessible price and easy playability may make it the perfect starter guitar, yet seasoned guitarists will find plenty to love, too! The small size is ideal for traveling guitarists, fireside freestyling, and campsite jam sessions. Whether it’s your first or your fifth acoustic guitar, the Fender Sonoran Mini will defy all expectations placed upon small acoustics — and it’s available now at Sweetwater.

Very nice guitar very happy

It's beautiful with a lovely sound!

By Evie from Oakland, CA on February 5, 2024

I literally just received the delivery and I am blown away by the satin finish of this guitar! The image online doesn't do it justice at all! The tone is quite lovely and feels great. I may do a few upgrades, but overall its more than what I expected at an incredible price!

Ridiculously playable

By Sweetwater Customer on January 29, 2024

Insane value for the price. Perfect for the living room or travel - the neck is so smooth and comfortable, I've been having a hard time putting it down. The all mahogany body is also surprisingly resonant for its size.

Convenient instrument

By Russ from Boston on January 8, 2024 Music Background: Novice

Never knew a small parlor or O size guitar would be so much fun. This is gorgeous, all mahogany and sounds wonderful even with my limited skills.
At this low price you can.t do better in my humble opinion.

Really great travel/couch guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on January 9, 2023

For this price point, I think Fender did a great job. Nice appointments seen in higher end guitars, such as double binding, and appealing details like the gold pickguard, strat headstock and mahogany top. Scale length isn't too short to make playing difficult and it feels really comfortable on the couch. I wouldn't recommend traveling on a plane with it -- the longer neck and headstock make it difficult to store, but I wouldn't recommend any guitars for air travel.

Only drawback is tone, but with a 3/4 size guitar I wouldn't expect good tone unless there was solid wood and then you're talking a much bigger budget.

Fender Sonoran mini Mahogany

By Dave from MA on January 3, 2023 Music Background: Beginner

Nice little travel guitar much louder than expected frets could be better but not by any means a deal breaker they were better after getting guitar humidified in case easy to play it's no dreadnought but sounds nice for smaller body guitar so far I love it the gig bag well that's it a bag offers little protection but guitar is well worth it also I wanted one in my collection with that headstock like on the electrics overall I would recommend to anyone wanting a decent guitar at a decent price..

Sonoran is full mahagony, and look at that tailpiece. She is so pretty, I ask her to come home with me, and be my couch guitar. Changed from Fender 12's to 10's so, she could sing.

I like it. Not frowning on purpose, my coffee table is crowded with too much, and I got angry. peace

Great backpacker style guitar.

The sound is bright and relatively loud for such a small body. The guitar I received was in great condition and I am so happy with SWEETWATER!

Fender enter in

By Steve Barry from Gordonville, TX on October 14, 2022 Music Background: raging FB song jockey.

The Sonoran, I was almost buying a Cordoba. This was in the same small guitar category. That sucker is mahogany, and look at that bridge. Gold really makes me feel rich. the old style tuners used to turn people on, still do. It is bound sides to front sides to rear with a cream binding looks like a dream guitar, and if you can handle it, it sings notes like opera, the notes it will let ring way past your street. Play it nice, it is a splendid Fender.

Get to know Sonoran

By Steve Barry from Gordonville, TX on October 12, 2022 Music Background: FB 1 take genius

Besides a contender for best looking guitar in my group, Sonoran sings if you treat her with firm notes, she wears a heavier string, and the sound can reach concert if you can get her there, a real good bouncing sound off the guitar, and a warm sound from the box, against a more harsh, shiver, with a low boom. IT is delightful, my couch companion, and I love her and her belt skinny strap a tender brown. I heard Lush. but you can make it sound crappy wacking on it, or angry strings hissing like a rattlesnake at you. it's fun

3/4 scale

By Steve Barry from Gordonville, TX on September 20, 2022 Music Background: FB MTV Videos World Wide

This mahogany guitar has special appointments found in fine guitars. Double bound body, aged pegs and saddle, extended width wood bridge is stylish, flashy gold new shaped pickguard, double soundhole ring in aged white also. If you play it sweet, it has the sound to be sweet, in 3/4 sound, which many like because it is a slight contrast to a booming D size guitar, and this guitar sits nicely right beside where you sit in a chair, couch, or bed to play. The tuners are right, and classics with aged white knobs and shiny silver vintage tuners. Seems Fender put on heavier strings to make the guitar sound like they thought it should. Buying goood guitars in 2022 is a real good time to buy, and get extra, in style, quality, and materials. Why Do Guitars Say Causes Cancer, and Birth Defects???? Are manufacturers trying to see, The Day The Music Died, or What?? Does not make sense, I'm buying my art, my hobby, my sense of self buying these beloved guitars. There are so many good guitars now days 2022, you just want one more, then one more might do it, then, oh man, I gotta have that comes along. peace, and rock n roll. S/B

new special 3/4 Fender

By Steve Barry from Gordonville, TX on September 9, 2022

Mahogany, nice appointments. If you bang on it, you will get banging. But, if you lighten up, and even finger picking, the sound lights up. Play this guitar outside to and hear a difference from indoors.

Fender Mahogany 3/4 guitar, cream double bound body, new type build. It will play. proud of it

Great value for the price!

By Kevin Kelling from Houston, Tx on June 18, 2022 Music Background: Former professional

I was looking for a smaller acoustic that would be easier to travel with.
This guitar far exceeded my expectations.
Small and light, but it plays and sounds amazing!
And… it records well too.

Beautiful little guitar

By Art from Port Orange, FL on December 11, 2021

Looking at this guitar online,i wouldn,t have even considered it for a moment.I was in local music store just browsing around and this caught my eye.I,m always looking for an electric, but picked this up and sat down with it.It just felt "right"to me..Love the size and shape, the strat headstock and it sounds really NICE.Thought this would be great for when i,m just sitting on the couch and strumming.I started comparing it to other pricier acoustics and thought that this sounds as good as some those. Felt more comfortable than the bigger bodied acoustics.I do have another larger acoustic that i rarely pick up because when i go to play it,,(Body is glossy and slick)I feel like a monkey tryin to **** a football !! It,s like a wrestling match with a greased pig!! This body just feels very nice. You also get a gig bag with it!! i said SOLD ! As i said,,I would never have bought this online ,,but after holding and playing it,,,Pleased with this purchase ! So if you,re looking for something to just play around with watching tv or whatever. Just thought i,d share my opinion on this cool little guitar!

What a treat!

By Russell Miller from PEABODY, MA on December 18, 2023 Music Background: Novice

I'm learning all over again and this little beauty makes me sound great. It projects, the fretboard just works beautifully and the mahogany body is gorgeous with perfect fit and finish! I have a big bag of cash tied up in a couple of new guitars…the Sonoran is a bargin at any price but for $, incredible!! Go buy 2!!

Excellent for price

By Sweetwater Customer on July 21, 2022

Excellent. Obviously this guitars sound can't compete with a premium full size. It's comfortable and surprisingly loud for its size. I would have given it 5 stars except for two minor things. The string tree was not installed perfectly center of the e and b string and the nut was cut a little low on the g string. Otherwise perfect fit and finish.
