Schecter Solo-II Standard Electric Guitar - Ocean Blue Burst Burl Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Burl Top, Mahogany Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Ocean Blue Burst Burl

Schecter’s Solo-II model has been a favorite among Sweetwater’s guitarists for its metal-minded take on the classic single-cut shape, blending iconic stylings with modern performance appointments. The Schecter Solo-II Standard brings this out-of-time axe to all, making no exception to their industry-celebrated standard of sonorous tonewoods, adaptable playability, and voltaic Schecter-designed pickups. Constructed with burl, mahogany, rosewood, and roasted maple, the Solo-II Standard’s tonewood quartet delivers a value-packed instrument that oozes sonic versatility without sacrificing quality or character. Vast tone-crafting opportunities abound, thanks to the Solo-II Standard’s lightning-fast neck and 22-fret spread, while the distinctive finish caps off an electrifying marriage of form and function that culminates in an all-access axe with looks as powerful as this guitar sounds.

A Perfect Lower-Priced Guitar!

By Mark from NC
Music Background: Ancient Noodler

Don't hesitate to buy this Solo-II Standard! For a lower-priced guitar, the quality and craftsmanship is excellent. The 24-3/4" scale (Gibson) is fast and comfortable to play. The feel of the neck is amazing, just the right contour, not fat or super-thin, maybe a little more rounded than Gibson slim taper. The Rosewood fingerboard is great. The frets were finished well with no sharp ends. The pickups are pretty good for a low-priced guitar. They lean towards the distortion-side (dark side? LOL!) but clean-up near the low-volume side. (But treble response is slightly lower.) Electronics work as advertised. The burl top is amazing and the color is awesome. Only the tiniest imperfection in the finish near the truss rod cover, otherwise flawless. I purchased this guitar as a "work-horse", you know, a beater. But I've been playing it so much that I committed to upgrading it with my go to SD '59 pickup set and locking tuners. Out of the box (OOTB) it needed a bridge height and neck adjustment. It comes with a straight-neck and raised bridge, so if you're a "chugger" it's probably okay. Right away I did put my preferred D'Addario EXL110BT strings on it, but that's a personal thing. This is not a Gibson LP! But straddles the line of quite a few different styles of guitar. But that's were it shines. It is a great playing/sounding guitar that is really fun to play. (Oh, and it doesn't weigh a ton!)
