Unbelievable quality instrument….

By jerry donahue from ripon, CA on March 25, 2024

Great guitar and the quality is the same as the made in japen model , the fretboard was perfect setup ,action and intonation spot on ,guitar sounds great too , but the bridge pickup was a little hotter than my playing style, so I replaced it with a Seymour Duncan 78 pickup and also changed the pickguard to a black pearl style , but everything else 100% stock , great guitar with all the pickup combinations and coil splitting make it super universal to play , have to thank my sales guy LOGAN ASHMAN ext 3745 for pointing me in this direction , my other guitars are Gibson's and this guitar is right there quality wise ……..

AMAZING.

Coming from the HSS Player Strat after receiving a couple defectives via mail, I was a bit worried at first with the sound I was getting but once I've learned to adapt and adjust the amp settings Literally went to another level of playing quicker than I have in the close to 15 years of playing cheapos. What a difference a great guitar (with a setup, but I honestly haven't even needed one yet). I was never heavy with the whammy bar, never used one until the Strat, but the Floyd Rose opens a whole nother layer of tone to access at the perfect moments. Yeah, I can't change tunings easily with this and that does suck but I guarantee anybody that knows how to use a Floyd has never complained. You can abuse that thing and it stays in tune. I can't say enough about this one man, and no, Charvel isn't paying me to write this, though they should! Wide but not thick neck, makes bends and vibrato effortless really. It really feels like more like Les Paul in Humbucker mode and a perfect Strat in single coil position by pulling the volume nob up, the coil splitting is a huge advantage to get the most out of these humbuckers. I would've loved this red and black color, first time seeing it but what I got what was 1 of 2 available at Huber and Breese, my guitar shop. Of course they were out of the San Dimas Sparkling Green but in no way am I disappointed with what I got, I even named this baby, Pamela Jr. It has a mix of traditional, creamy coloration mixed with some new school vibe with the Floyd and Locking Nut. This is much heavier than a Strat, both in sound and feel. You got a super heavy sounding but clean Strat iPickups are insanely HOT and that could take some getting used to if you're not used to it. Every mistake is amplified by 50. Surprisingly, the Neck Humbucker seems like the heaviest thing I've ever heard. The Bridge is a super Distortion, great for chugging palm muted riff, shrieking leads almost sounds like an active pickup. But the Neck Pickup is what I'm in Love with. Good God is it just downright Creamy is the best word to describe the leads. And it has a perfectly heavy fuzz rhythm tone. I've finally felt like I can sound close to Metallica and Sabbath now depending on what tone I choose on the Boss Katana, which is amazing for it's price too, I could always play the notes but not having the right gear for the longest time really prevented me from clicking with my playing the way I did with what's on record. Humbucker mode is entirely Dirty sounding, but in a great way and not to the point where your losing sound quality. Black Friday deals got me at least $300 odd, this is a well over a grand worth guitar. Can't say enough. Finally found the sound I've been dreaming of all this time -Sincersly, the one and only ZZ

Pro Mod So-Cal Style 1

By Sweetwater Customer on August 23, 2023

I have waited for some time to for Charvel to come out with an HH hard tail of the So Cal. I am not a Floyd Rose fan. I love hard tail, strat body guitars. I especially love the Charvel neck. I am very happy with this guitar. It was great right out of the box. There were no fit and finish issues. Aside from a set up after it settles in to my climate, there were no issues. I was a little apprehensive about the pickups as I have never used the Distortion pickup. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The set works really well in this guitar and covers anything I like to play. The only negative I can say is that I wish there were more colors available. The candy apple red looks really good but I was hoping for some kind of a blue being available.
