Sibilance Be-Gone
I hate those wretched "ess"s"! I have several plugins that more or less help curb or reduce the issue, but they all seem to dull the whole vocal; taking a nice vocal mix and turning it into mud. I saw this de-esser from Waves that promised sibilance reduction or removal without the total loss of your mix in the higher registers of your vocal. Turns out, Waves has done a very nice job in proving their claim. The Waves Sibilance de-esser plugin works very nicely and only in rare instances do you need to actually "notch" the vocal to remove a dreaded "ess". The four controls are simple to manipulate and make de-essing quick and easy but it"s still best to actually read the instructions first. I really appreciate the vocal waveform at the top of the plugin that not only highlights the strength of the sibilant areas in your vocal; but will indicate how much your adjustments are affecting the sibilance. Big step forward in solving the EQ vs Ess reduction vs loss of highs in vocals issue. I like it!!!
