A real working 30+ year career entertainer

The Man in Tan.

After decades I decided to see what was new and upgrade my rig. I would like quantize sync between my looper and my 90's drum machine. I would also like to add bass tracks.

Sounds like a pretty easy request coming from 90's gear to state of the art big name looper.

I'll make this REAL simple. Before you buy just look up the looper x user page on fake book and you will see nothing but 4 sale and how and dozens of the same questions on how to use with zero support from anyone.

I lasted all the way to level 2 support before I returned mine. I am not able to use this AT ALL for my show. There is so many unnecessary road blocks they have that prevent this from being used. It might as well be a 15 lb paper weight It's ENORMOUS and heavy to boot like something from 1979 .

In 35 years of buying and using gear I have never ran across anything so useless and at the same time glorified and propped up by advertising.

I have had this for about a month now, its really awesome. Being able to quickly and easily create and edit 4 tracks at a time (hands free) is a dream. This thing changed the way I approach songwriting and allows me to build up an idea very quickly and mostly hands free. An example of what I love is I find a progression and throw typically around 16 bars into the first track and from there I multiply the progression so its about 3 minutes(no hands). I now have a base layer which I can transpose (no hands). I then settle on a key and start over or I get bored and save it for later. It is very easy to save and load your work on this thing as well, although there is no way to make file folders on the board itself which is a little annoying. The on board FX are pretty dang good, relatively easy to manipulate but you will need to use your hands. This thing doesn't have a gigantic library of FX but it has some good variety in the types of FX as well as a good number of pre-saved sounds for each FX chain to help get what you are looking for quickly. Also the 4 inputs and outputs with customizable channel routing is stellar. I have my bass routed to my bass amp, and my guitar and vocals going into my guitar amp.

25+ yrs experience and at least 10 as a solo looping artist and I was excited by this looper. Big durable pedals, big display, built in FX which are quite good BUT...
1.) You can't assign effects to inputs, only tracks. So if I'm playing guitar and singing all effects apply to both. Want compression on one instrument? Sorry, you can't. So you can't tailor a reverb and eq or compressor to just vox or just guitar. It basically makes over half the FX pointless.
2.) It takes 2 steps to play/mute a single track. Timing is everything with looping and this simply makes no sense. It's usable but makes everything harder and more likely to miss a cue.

These may not affect everyone, but at this price you could buy outboard vox/gtr effects and a more traditional looper and still be under budget. Further, there has been only one software update and no communication from manufacturer about any further updates. Great potential here, but consider me disappointed, especially for the premium price.

Purchased to build backing track support for performing and still exploring and building sets. The Manuals, as is typical of the gear industry, is pretty sparse. Most of the YouTube resources are promotional or opinion pieces so not a lot of tutorial oriented resources. The quality of the device is impeccable. Likely the best pedal feel of any device available. I think the Sheeran X is more than capable for any looping application but you have to commit to work with it and discover all its processes and capabilities. I have.

It is a really well built machine. The size and layout make it easy to operate mechanically. It is a lot of options and computer navigating. As a 73 yr.old guy learning this stuff does not come naturally. But I got the basics down, and I like having a good range of FX built in

This is by far the best looper on the market. It can be used for live shows with ease and it's super intuitive out of the box. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that has a passion for looping.

HE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE GETS OUT MUCH BUT IM TAKING THIS OUT MUCH!

I've purchased quite a few loopers over the past 20 years, and, sorry to say, sent quite a few back, but the functionality of the Sheeran/ Headrush Looper X is near perfect. While it's a large sized looper it's completely understandable given the larger soft pedals and the optimized spacing between them - never mind the great touch-screen display. While there are a few software features I'd like to see written into the code, and look forward to seeing any upcoming updates, I'm keeping this looper and having a great time with it too.

Sturdy build quality, packed full of useful features and design for both live performance as well as studio workflow. Love the petals and how quiet they are. I also have a Roland RC600 and no plans to replace either, instead to utilize both.
No regrets.
