Waves Scheps Omni Channel 2 Plug-in Reviews

It's the best channel strip plugin money can buy. The saturation in the pre-amp module is really useful and sounds great. This one affordable plugin will save a lot of time and money.

Great plugin, it's pretty much the Waves version of the PreSonus Fat Channel

I need to stop buying plugins because I keep coming back to the Scheps Omni Channel for everything I need for voiceover. The saturation and thump are perfect for adding presence. The compressor is very effective and controllable. One of the best de-essers I've used. The EQ is nice too. And the limiter gets good results with less crunch. For my eLearning or other clients that don't do much processing, this is has been my go-to for several years now.

This plugin is totally customizable. It has a lot of presets for many different instruments. The quality is suberb. It's totally worth it.

Having the Scheps Omni Channel Plug-in just made life easier in the box for this green mixer here. The pre-sets are solid for what I'm doing and just a little tweak here and there, and I'm all set. The design is genius! Thank you Maestro!!!

I've been using the Scheps omni channel for a few months now on tracks and busses, and I am amazed at the diversity and usefulness of this very affordable plugin.
Just yesterday I was mixing drum tracks and as good as the tracks are, they still needed a bit of eq, compression etc., so I pulled this up and made the drums just explode.
Many presets that will give you what you need or start you closer to where you need to be. When a module isn't in use it has no impact on system which saves CPU power for other things..brilliant!
I can't say enough good things about this and Andrew Scheps himself.
Overall this is well worth every penny and I recommend any musician mixing their own music or mixer working on other peoples projects to get this plugin and just have fun!

I've been using channel strip plugins since 2004. At various studios I've relied heavily on Waves Renaissance Channel, AudioTrack, and Avid Channel Strip. They're all good and kind of transparent, boring, and utilitarian.

Scheps Omni Channel is pleasantly different. It definitely has its own sound. The EQ has color and the DS2 compressors are unique and useful.

The PRE module takes the cake. The Saturation and Thump options sound awesome - that's where you'll get some of that "chunky" Andrew Scheps sound.

If Andrew Scheps is your mix hero, this plugin will help you get closer to his style. But don't forget to use extreme parallel compression on literally everything. That's why his mixes are super loud but still have detail.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Compressor module is up to the task. It's OK for light insert compression but maybe not right for parallel or bus compression. Personally, I'd recommend something like NI's Solid Bus Comp for compression sends.

Okay, maybe not the only one. But there isn't a single thing this plug in cant do. I really gotta give my appreciation to all the odds and ends going into every bit of this device, all the different flavors it has packed into it. But by far the best part is the user interface. Band pass, bypass, AB, auto on, Mono,Stereo, and Mid/Side? Things that would be annoying to configure come packed into one plug in. Love it. Please work with Andrew some more on other plugins so he can improve them.

I've tried a number of different channel strips by various manufacturers, but this one takes the cake. Dang!! Its easy to use, it has just the right amount of controls laid out in an easy-to-use manner, its easy on the CPU, its scalable (under Waves 12) and it sounds terrific. I just may set most of my other non-effects plug-ins aside and focus on learning how to use this one efficiently. Bonus: there are lots of good free tutorials online, including one by Scheps. The Best Bonus: the sales price is unbelievably low!!

WOW! I got this mainly for the saturation module and EQ feature, however this has changed the game for me. I popped it into a session for an album on the drum bus and before I knew it, had replaced many other plugins on different buses and individual tracks because this thing just sounds so good. The interface and visual look of it sucks me in and I only remember that it's a plugin because I'm using my mouse to change perimeters.

It's hard to describe, but the sound of it and feel of use are so perfect together that it really does make processing your signal the way you envision, so simple. I was almost done with my mix for the album and this literally changed the game for me. I fixed my struggle areas in minutes after popping this bad boy on and it simplified my inserts. I LOVE this plugin and recommend it to anyone. I squeezed out some KILLER distortion for the bass guitar with this thing. I had been struggling the whole recording and mixing process trying to get the type of distortion I was hearing in my head for the bass, I put this on a preset(go figure, one of AS's presets) and BAM, it was 90% there, a little tweaking and I NAILED it. I just can't say enough about this. I'm actually excited to spend more time with this plugin, like when you get that brand new piece of outboard gear that you have been saving up for and can't seem to get to the studio fast enough.

I'm not gunna say this is the best plugin for EVERYTHING or every use, but it certainly could be a desert island type of kit.

There is always a danger of an "omni" tool doing too many things at once and being mediocre overall. The Scheps Omni Channel avoids the danger and delivers an amazingly versatile tool. I use this mostly on stereo mains to add the final touches to whatever mix I'm working on and to finalize my podcasts. It never disappoints. I can configure the various stages (EQ, Comp, etc.) into any sequence and the sound can be as clean or colored as I need. It supplements stock plugins in whatever DAW I'm using in a wonderful way.

I own Waves Mercury, so this is included, but I had never gotten around to using it, until recently, after reading a review in Sound on Sound. Well the verdict is that this is a MUST. Pretty easy to use and sounds great. At this price, only a fool would pass it up. GET IT NOW!!!

I have the intire waves lineup and what struck me immediately was how high quality it looked, operated and sounded! Its so dramatic, it looks real on screen! But, as they say, its what comes out of the speakers that matters...and thats where this plugin SHINES! Mixed a vocal track 1st day with the omni and it stood tall and sweet in the mix. It surprised me immediately, very fluid!

The Waves Scheps Omni Channel Strip plugin is way more than I expected. The overall sound is just there in every way! I have already used it on vocal, acoustic guitar, and acoustic drum tracks, and I was completely blown away by how well it sounded. There are so many nuances when it comes to analog and the Schep Omni has so many options with 5 individual processors, in any order you can imagine. I was impressed by all of the processors, but the EQ, Preamp, & Compression... WOW! Scheps said in the promo video they set out to make the ULTIMATE Channel Strip Plugin, they did it!

I just did my first mix with it and yes it's very good. This strip has all the tools in one convenient, great looking location. I found it easy on my 2012 I7 3770, 8 GB RAM machine. All the filters sound great and I really liked the limiter.

This new plugin is a Swiss Army knife and meets needs for mixing as well as recording. I tried the demo vendor several days and was totally amazed. I was able to remove extra plugins from my mixes, use the Omni, thereby achieve a minimal approach to finalizing the tracks. Each section/component of the plugin provides it"s on coloration and can be selectively chosen and placed in any order preference. I really like the ability to add another plugin to the Omni template. Waves and Scheps have another winner. I recommend this plugin to all newbies and seasoned recordist. You will be pleased. I'm a huge fan of Mr Scheps' work and saw a video of him using this, and it's on sale for 50 bucks so what the heck. This plugin packs so much punch... and the presets are fantastic... the focus button is really cool to. ( For those of you who do not know, "Focus" highlights the recommended parameters to tweak suggested by the creator of the chosen preset). This plugin is now my go-to for getting a quick mix going due to the versatility and functionality. Of course you don't have to use presets, but they often make more sense to use since they set up the chain for you and provide some good inspiration/ a solid starting point. Great job Waves and Andrew!!

By far, for me, one of the best plugins from Waves... Have to admit that I had turned away from Waves for a while as I discovered Slate Plugins. But I think this plugin is great enough to compete with Slates. Great job Waves... keep em coming.... Oh.. and grab it before it goes up in price!!!

This plugin has now leveled the playing field. Almost everything that comes through it sounds and feels better.

I first try the demo from waves website and within minutes i was blown away and rush to get it from sweetwater. You definitely will be hook to this trust me. With the price now you can't beat it. Thank to sweetwater for the sale and thanks to the brand of waves.

I took me some time to buy it, though the price is so good. This plugin is full of tools and technical capabilities, not to mention the quality of sound. Programming seems to be first class in many aspects. Anyway, all black and orange may be cool for a T-shirt, not for a piece of software that you are supposed to watch during long periods working with tiny numbers and letters. I highly respect those few modern designers who allow me to set the colors of the software I buy. Besides this personal aspiration the Omni Channel is the great implementation of a great idea.

Still putting it through its paces. I'm surprised no one thiugh about this till now. Love the fact that almost everything is right there at your fingertips

Great compressor and multi processing ability giving a good warmth to digital recording and mastering.

Great plug-in. Like the PreSonus Fat Channel, it is a good alternate with effective and simple parameters for adjustment.
