Charvel Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK22 HH FR M Electric Guitar - White Tiger Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, Floyd Rose 1000 Tremolo, and 2 Active Humbucking Pickups - White Tiger

Break out your spandex and tease that hair — the Charvel Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK will transport you back to 1987. Its eye-grabbing White Tiger finish epitomizes Reagan-era Sunset Strip glam metal. Its alder body delivers the balanced tonal response that has been prized by rock guitarists for decades. And its matching, uncovered Fishman Fluence Classic active pickups furnish an endless variety of humbucker tones. As for playability, this guitar's compound-radius fingerboard was tailor-made for rapid-fire soloing. Beyond that, you'll love the feel of the neck's hand-rubbed urethane finish. The Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK also includes a Floyd Rose 1000 double-locking tremolo, so you can dive-bomb your heart out.

Excellent guitar! Worth the price!

By Jose Luis on January 9, 2024 Music Background: MI/GIT student

The sound of this guitar is fantastic! I love its 80's tone!
The 2nd voicing of the Fishman Fluence Classic is a nice addition that creates like a mid boost and a bit of compression.
I like the Fluence way better than the active EMGs I have on a Jackson Soloist Custom Shop. The Fluence are much more organic and sound like the 80's! Not to mention that they are super quiet, but scream beautifully when the volume knob is turned up!

The neck is very comfortable and the Dinky body is super comfortable and ergonomic.
The Floyd Rose 2000 is good, but not as good as the German Floyd Rose.
The body painting stands out a lot on stage!

I liked the Charvel Satchel so much that I bought a 2nd one.
I keep one in standard tuning and the other 1/2 step down.

Both came absolutely flawless from Sweetwater.

The 80's rule!

First, the things I wasn't thrilled with-and nothing to do with build quality or sound, but I have always played 24 fret guitars and thought this would be an easy transition. It takes a bit of getting used to-it feels really small to me,like the neck is a few inches too short. The bolt on neck doesn't have the greatest upper fret access, but that's most Fender guitars. If you spend a lot of time in this area, this may not be the best choice for you.
The best feature on this guitar is the neck.It is very comfortable, and plays like a dream.I had the plek service done on mine,so I'm not sure how good it would have been without this.Action was perfect-low with no buzzing, pickups are outstanding, and you can simply unplug them and swap them out with other Fishman pickups if you choose to.I've been a long time EMG user, so I was a bit underwhelmed with the bridge humbucker,so I changed it to the Fishman equivalent to an EMG 81 and this thing will breathe fire now!The pickups installed are great for low to medium gain, but don't push a tube amp into high gain the way I like it.Easy to swap them out.
The only flaw in the guitar was where the neck joins the body.It is a bit of a rough fit,but does not affect playability at all.The finish seems to be some kind of wrap attached to the body-not painted on, and it's a satin finish, not high gloss.I love the look and feel of this guitar. If you're looking for a super playable super strat, this is a good choice.

I love this guitar

I absolutely love the feel of this model. The neck is smooth and easy to navigate. The body is solid, and I really enjoy the Tiger stripe graphics. It has amazing tone, both with the PAF's,and when engaging the push/pull volume knob to activate the active Fishman Fluence pickups. I purchased this one after getting the purple bengal one. Thank you to Mike Johnson and Ryan Gregory for finding these guitars and shipping them to me quickly. Thank you to Sweetwater for being so amazing.

Just ok, not worth the price

By Josh w. on June 7, 2023

To be blunt, I've played one of these and they're just ok; played one that a good friend owns while doing a recording session to be clear. The best part is that the action is set up pretty good from the factory. The rest is just very mediocre, starting with the neck: it feels like raw, unfinished wood. No satin, not even gloss, just raw is the term I can think of and feels strange. Next are the pickups: they're nothing special. They have no particular standout qualities, no real bite, just basic sounding humbuckers, and any serious player will be changing them out. Last major point is the floyd 1000: it feels really cheap. I didn't even want to use it as the arm is incredibly thin and feels flimsy. I know people use them and some people like them, but it gives me zero confidence compared to an OFR. Overall, for about $ you get a ______ charvel, with unfinished neck, uninspired pickups and a cheap floyd 1000. There's no reason on God's green earth that it would ever be reasonable to spend this kind of money and get a subpar copy of an incredible players actual guitar. Only reason I can think of, is that this guitar is a cash grab, done on the cheap, purely for profit, with no regard to actual quality...which is a term that used to be associated with charvel. Missed opportunity really.

Looks hot but..

By Tom from AR on January 2, 2024

Bought this a few months ago. Love the look and feel but, sadly it relies on a 9-volt battery for on-going sound. As the battery weakens the signal strength weakens also. Better keep a case of 9-volt batteries close by if you plan to gig with it.

Quality control issues

By Kenneth Adrian from Winter Garden, FL on July 11, 2023

The string alignment was heavily biased towards the bass side of the fretboard and not adjustable. Neck or neck pocket was not made right. Made playing awkward and uncomfortable.

Bridge pickup trim ring was installed backwards. Basic stuff they couldn't get right.

Again, like the previous 2 guitars from Sweetwater, no basic set-up, no real inspection. Sent guitar back. This will be the last guitar I purchase from Sweetwater. It's just not worth the time and aggravation. As with my previous negative reviews, I know they will not post this, which also says something about how they do business.
