Super pedal

By Ricardo from Yuma AZ

It was a long time waiting but i fonally got my new super pulsar pedal, i used to have the first version of this one and this time the pedal came with some little differences but make the pedal even better it was.

The build quality is solid — the metal chassis feels durable, and the new knurled knobs are a nice upgrade over the usual smooth ones, providing better grip and precision. The input jacks feel sturdy and stable without the typical plastic casing.

To Infinity and Beyond

By Bill H. from Lawrenceville, GA
Music Background: Too many years of playing to not be better at it.

I love tremolo but this takes it into new worlds.
First, the controls are grouped in a way that's easy to deal with on the fly, or on a dark stage. They are self explanatory and give the expected results.
There are eight possible presets. Just hold down the BYPASS switch until the light blinks then select a preset position with the center switch and push BYPASS again to SAVE. That's the most complicated thing about this pedal.
As for the features, the mix of patterns, envelopes, and wave types makes this the most complete tremolo tool I have ever seen. It is perfect for creating rhythm patterns and effects. I am particularly fond of the RATE and DEPTH envelope controls. Those two controls are very small, but even with my huge fingers I can work them without difficulty.
I have several other tremolo pedals, including the Keeley Dynatrem which has envelope controls and is much more pedal board friendly. The Dynatrem also has rate and depth envelope control, but lacks presets and expression pedal control. I'm also a big fan of Line 6 products, but so far have not found a tremolo in any of the Helix or HX products that has envelope control for rate or depth.
Final thoughts: It has stereo in and outs, expression pedal control (for Rate, Depth, Shape, Phase, or Volume), TAP in, TAP divide, wave invert, rate multiplier, and expression pedal input, a separate tap switch input (as well as TAP on the pedal) and lots of flashing lights to let you know what's going on. The Super Pulsar is huge but worth making room for.

Super pulsar... is super

By trish from CA
Music Background: hobby so far

There IS a learning curve.. but not bad. There's so much you can do for effects, and effects upon effects with this machine alone. There won't be any boredom with it because it seems endless in it's capacity to alter and enhance other effects as well as just a clean amp.

Amazing Tremolo!

By Ricky H. from Milwaukee
Music Background: In bands and a studio player

This trem pedal is by far the best I"ve ever played or owned. It has the ability to create almost any pattern and lock into a beat. If that wasn"t good enough you can control any parameter via an expression pedal. Crazy cool! Cheers to my man Bart Good at Sweetwater for hooking me up with this. Only reason I didn"t give a full 5 stars is because I wish you could adjust the LED brightness, as it gets rather distracting sometimes. Other than that this thing rocks and it"s in stereo.

The Tip of the Iceburg

I've had mine for 2 months and only skimmed the surface of it's features. What impresses me most however, is simply the overall tone of the pedal. I was expecting lots of control but the oozing of crystal-clear, botique tone is a pleasant surprise. Without a doubt the best Tremolo pedal I've ever tried. I only wish they would've included, a paper manual. You can get the manual from the EHX site, and I'm all for saving trees, but this thing has so many options it's the one time I'd like a hard copy to sit and read through.

Best vibrato - period.

By Chris from Knoxville, TN

This pedal is simply fantastic. We all know it's loaded with features and adjustable parameters, but where EHX really set themselves apart is the fact that they supplied sufficient head and foot room in all of these parameters. You can go to full on/off tremolo and have every tempo you could ever want with the twist of one knob or by utilizing the tap tempo. What's missing from this pedal? Serious question, I can't find a flaw with it.

Meh.

By Aaron H. from Visalia, CA

I thought this would be way better than it is. The tap is what sold me on it... however the tap is nearly impossible to sync up exactly with the tempo/song you're playing. I've tried it with just a metronome... tapping as carefully as I can, and I cannot get it to sync up. Might be user error... but either way, I'm not 100% satisfied with the rhythmic stuff this pedal does solely bc of tempo issues.

Sounds excellent. Wide range of options as far as tremolo tones goes, but you knew that.
Operation is a bit of a learning curve... kinda difficult to set up presets - you'd never figure it out without the manual.

Buy it if you just want a versatile tremolo and don't really care about the rhythmic stuff it claims... however if you intend to do more rhythmic effects, good luck playing with anyone else.

You Need This In Your Life

By Sweetwater Customer

I'm amazed at how feature-rich this pedal is. In addition to this, it's hyper responsive. Fine-tuned adjustments make pretty significant changes and the impact of those adjustments varies depending on the characteristics of the input signal. This took some getting used to, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Best tremolo ever!

By Michael N. from Bowling Green, KY
Music Background: Professional vocalist/guitarist/producer

I did tons of research before buying this pedal, and it was mainly just to figure out if any tremolo could outdo the Super Pulsar. They couldn't. 100% analog signal path, but with tap tempo (both internal AND external), the ability to compensate for expected tremolo volume drops, a nearly infinite amount of LFO shapes, envelope followers to control rate and depth, pattern trem, usable as a stereo panner... There's basically no base this effect doesn't cover. One of my favorites is running a regular sine wave with the right channel LFO out of phase by 90 or 270 degrees. Makes it seem like the tremolo is perfectly encircling you.

Best tremolo ever. :)

Tremolo dream come true

By Simon from Portland, OR
Music Background: Producer/Engineer

This thing is packed to the gills with great tremolo effects. It's surprisingly easy to work with considering all of the buttons, knobs and functions. It's stereo effects are difficult to stop playing with. it's one of those effects you get lost in. In the studio it is divine inspiration.
