Love it ^_^

This bass Rocks! It feels very easy to play and it sounds great. The low end rocks deeply and the high end has good tone. This is the kind of instrument that you fall in love with and never want to put down.

Good financial investment i think. Much better than ibanez.

An amazing instrument for its price-point

I play mainly metal with bass patched through at least a mild overdrive, but most of the time I stack an additional distortion after the overdrive, and this bass works gorgeously in such settings! Soundwise it's very articulated and transparent, more on the modern hi-fi side. It might sound cold to someone, but it fits great with a chorus (I use TC Electronic Corona chorus) which adds a nice mellow touch to it. In general, its in-house stock P- & MM-shaped Diamond series pickups are more on the EMG side I'd say. On certain forums, I've ever read that some people prefer the sound of those pickups over that of EMG Hz or EMG40-equipped Stilettos.

Its neck is very pleasant to hold in hands - the surface of its back is super-fast and there are no sharp fret edges. Also, the fretboard is nice, very open and accessible across its whole length. Construction-wise it's made flawlessly, which surprised me a lot on the positive side - there is not a single defect in the paint job, fretwork (no dead notes, either), etc. It came in a very playable setup from the factory, all I had to do was to straighten the neck a bit and o slightly lower the string action because that's how I set up all of my basses in general.

There was one negative side (to me, at least), which I've managed to solve successfully - it had a certain neck dive when playing seated, probably due to its relatively small body, shorter lower horn, and fairly light basswood body. I've resolved that by installing the super-light Gotoh 350 Res-O-Lite tuners, and since then it became my favorite bass with perfect ergonomics. However, this might not be an issue for everyone, because I've heard the experiences of others who haven't found it top-heavy - I'm super-sensitive to that so maybe it's just my taste.

NOTICE: its bridge pieces (one per string) are made up of three separate parts: the basis which is attached to its body, the fore-and-aft-moving piece to set up the intonation, and the up-and-down-moving piece to set up the string action. Each of them has its proprietary locking screw, manipulated via the small allen key. When setting up action you need to unlock the one that controls that bridge piece, while it should be locked prior to changing strings - otherwise, it might drop and get lost somewhere hard to be found!

Excellent 5 String Bass

By Gene P. on September 7, 2022

What an incredible bass and at a super affordable price.
Sweetwater did an incredible setup on this bass.

Amazing bass!

By James Yokoi on August 14, 2022 Music Background: Bass player for 18 years.

This bass punches above it's weight class, easily! I already had 2 people comment on how they could not believe this bass was this affordable. They thought it was at least $1000! The neck is fast and smooth, and the sounds!! This bass plays great in a band setting, whether it be reggae or rock, or anything else you can throw at it. The Schecter Stiletto Stealth 5 is the perfect bass I have been waiting to play.

A great bass

By Angel Israel Real Montes de Oca from RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA on April 16, 2022 Music Background: Bedroom guitar player

My friend bough it and sent it to me to test it, im a guitar player so not sure if my review is valid for bass players, but it came tuned half step down, well setup and sound amazing, feels fast and smooth.

Absolute Monster Bass

By Jason from Montreal on April 7, 2022

Playable out of the box (although I had it set up), this is an absolute beast of a guitar. It is both smooth and light, versatile while also massive sounding because of it`s wide neck and sturdy construction. The Satin finish is gorgeous, beastly pickups, good for any style or for scaring small children. Best money I have ever spent. It should be a $ bass.

I love it

By Dylan Murphy from Brewer, ME on December 13, 2021

This is actually my first bass guitar I've ever owned and I couldn't be happier. It plays great and sounds amazing through the fender rumble 500. Would highly recommend this bass to anybody new or seasoned player.

Amazing

By Rusty W. Burroughs from NC on November 19, 2021

It is an amazing bass. Sounds great. It's pretty light. Great for the price. Everyone at Sweetwater was great and super helpful will order from them again.

Amazing Budget Bass

By Nathan Williams on August 13, 2021

For the price listed here, I cannot see someone getting a better bass.

It is clean, sounds great, and has decent tone capabilities. I cannot say much about the reliability because I have only had it for a few weeks, but judging from the high quality build I am guessing it will last.

I strongly recommend this product.

Beat this for under a grand, I challenge anyone.

This bass really can't be beaten, especially for the price. Everything about it is exactly what I was looking for. Great sustain, great tone. Sexy black. The knobs swept low keeps them away from my hand when I'm using a pick and the neck plays like a dream. Very responsive pickups with a wide variety of tonal adjustment. I find the stock strings leaving a bit to be desired, and plan on changing them soon, simply for the sound I'm looking for, but everyone has different preferences.
Big shout out to Mike, Jeff, Zach and Wyatt for making sure I got a high quality instrument that will undoubtedly give me years of pleasure!
This came out of the box ready to play, in tune, perfect action, the works.
I've never bought a guitar online, but Sweetwater is the real deal.
Wyatt, if you're reading this, high five brother! You picked me a winner!

Exellent guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on June 12, 2020

I'm no expert in bass guitars, but this is an excellent choice. It sounds great and comes ready to play out the box, not need to adjust the action or anything.

Schecter Stilet Stealth

By Joe Regel from TX on August 23, 2018

I couldn't be happier with this bass guitar. It plays great and sounds great, no matter which amplifier I use. I once owned a Peavy TL-5. At about tripple the price, it had nothing on this bass.

Nice very nice

By Sweetwater Customer on February 16, 2018 Music Background: 35 yrs of bass playing

I'm very happy with the bass . Plays well . Most comfortable bass iv ever played. Sweetwater even sent a bag of candy.

Schecter never disappoints

By Emily M from TX on July 18, 2023

As always, punching well above their weight. The fret ends are smooth, the action is great, and Sweetwater packed it excellently for shipping. Just as good as my C-5 GTs and Stiletto Studio 5 that cost twice as much. I even like the pickups, and I don't usually like manufacturer-branded pickups, but Schecter hits different in this case.

Wow!

By Dave Plante from Ma on February 21, 2020 Music Background: 30 yrs club bands

I don't use a 5 much so I didn't want to spend a lot of cash.. If someone told me they spent $1200 on this bass I would say..Nice.. Wouldn't have thought twice about it.
Bass is great..sounds great..plays great looks FANTASTIC!
And as usual... The Sweetwater experience was a 10!
Looking for a 5.. This is it!

Wonderful Instrument

By Joe from Colorado on July 29, 2019 Music Background: Hobbyist

I picked up this bass for a few reasons. First, I needed a 35" scale 5 string that wouldn"t break the bank. Second, a competitor was running a special coupon. Finally, I had already tried the 4 string version locally and couldn"t get over the tone. For being stock pickups... I was very impressed by the tones of the split coil and humbucker pickups. After having placed my preset with the competitor and waiting for what was about 4 weeks, I cancelled my order and got Mitch at Seeetwater. While he couldn"t match the price, he was able to get the price down some, and had what I wanted in stock. I was able to see the exact bass I was buying, with an included weight, and received high quality photos within 24 hours of placing my order. When I held it for the first time, I knew I made the right choice by going with Sweetwater.

Having never owned a Schecter, I was impressed by the bass. The weight, setup, and feel were all there. It is an excellent guitar and I am thoroughly impressed, even after having played it now for about 3 months. Honeymoon is over and I still love this bass!

Thunderous

By Dena on January 10, 2017

I bought this bass for my husband because I knew he had Schecter basses in the past and loved them. Well, this is no exception. He plays directly through the house system at church. He did say it has a slight buzz in his IEMs when he faces a certain way but it's not too distracting.

He says it plays fast, is comfortable, and sounds awesome.

I wanted to like this bass, but…

By Sweetwater Customer on August 19, 2022 Music Background: Bassist

The basswood body is really bad. The finish is nice, but under the finish the wood is basically sawdust. None of the bridge or pick guard screws screw back into the body after you unscrew them to take the plastic wrap off because the wood that it is drilled into is falling apart when I got it brand new. I have seen multiple reviews with the same problem. Other than that, the neck and is 10/10 amazing, the tuners are good, and the pickups and electronics sound amazing with tons of tonal range. Get the schecter stiletto extreme with the mahogany body instead. It's the same price.

when changing strings for the first time, two of the bridge pieces fall right off

By Augusto Cristicini from Templeton, CA on September 9, 2022 Music Background: Gigging part time muscian

i already left one review for this bass and I have to add that when changing strings for the first time, two of the bridge pieces fall right off. Meanwhile I have been told I can not order anymore for Sweetwater. I am good with that, it's their choice. Already ordered from Guitar Center. Although they do not show the weight of the bass, they do allow returns for up to 45 days for no particular reason. Sweetwater cancelled an order I made and did not tell me so this is how I found out.
All in all it was a good bass and sounded great but B string was a little floppy, and the active battery design without being able to change to passive is a little disappointing in the middle of a song if t dies. Meanwhile my Marcus Miller has a switch to passive at a lower price, a much better design.

S-Tek Bridge

By Mike on November 5, 2020

Schecter made a good looking bass that plays well for a decent price, however the S-Tek bridge is extremely flawed. It could just be the bass I received. Judging from all the other reviews that is probably the case.

Twice on two different saddles, the screws have gone straight through the holes causing the string to come flying off the bridge. After screwing the saddle back in, I can't even tune to standard tunning without the saddle lifting off the bass.

The bass is unusable at this point. For $... I wish I had gone with the Fender Squier instead. Very disappointing and waste of time and money.
