Most comfortable bass I’ve ever played.

By Rob from Pennsylvania on March 7, 2024 Music Background: Working bassist/session bassist

I own the 5 string counterpart of this bass and I've played it exclusively for majority of my bass playing career . (Started on 4's then switched to 5's) but I got the bug to get another 4 again and I've always wanted to get the 4 string version of my 5 and finally I did.
It's amazing.
When I opened the case I was just amazed at how it looked. It's the same bass as my 5 but as we all know, no instrument is the same and this bass is just fantastic in its own right. Always loved Schecter's Stiletto body style but what really impressed me, feel wise, was how slim and comfortable the neck was. My hand just glides across it.
It did need some minor tweaks to the truss rod, but nothing you wouldn't expect when having an instrument shipped to you. Sweetwater notes this and I agree; Wait 24 hours before opening to allow the wood to acclimate to the environment it's in. As difficult as it is to do that, I did, and I'm glad. Wood is always going to move so it's good that Sweetwater notes this so people don't just open up their instrument and potentially do harm to them.
Once I had it set up to my liking and played it even more, it just felt like home.
Shoutout to the sales rep my wife and I were working with, Ben Stokes. Very punctual and excellent customer service.

I love this bass ... been playing it now for 2 months, sounds great.
The finish is smooth people love the looks of this bass. I get
compliments all the time. The case is great as it is formed to the
shape of this bass and protects it well.
I would recommend this bass to anyone!!!

Something Special

By Harry Wilson Jr from NC on August 7, 2021

Just got this bass today & she is the Bomb! Came out of the box requiring minor tuning. she sounds like she looks, Oh so good. This is my first Schecter Bass & I'm so impressed by it. My Yamaha504 will be getting a long rest. I am not a lover of things so I'll say I enjoy this Bass immensely.

I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BASS

By Barry Oliver from Zephyrhills, FL on August 17, 2019

For a reasonable price, I'm finding it difficult to fathom that I got such a high quality bass guitar. From the moment I opened the case it was love at first sight. It looks great, it plays great and it feels great. Well balanced and a finish that is smoother than what I expected in satin. The volume and tone controls are simple to use and the tone is quite variable without much fuss. Killer tone. And the case is a rich colored blue; well layed out with ample room for strap, strings, picks and whatnot. What more can I say - I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BASS!

This guitar sounds amazing and looks as good as it sounds , the neck is thin and fast playing low action is effortless as your fingers glide up and down the scales the guitar case that comes separate is made perfect fit and has a beautiful blue padding and plenty of room for strap and other necessities ,I have the fender jazz and p basses I have a carvin lb70p bass I have a Ibanez acoustic bass and a burns of London bass also my favorite musicman sterling bass but I do believe this may pass all these as my go to bass, I've played bass for over forty five years , I really like this bass

The Only Bass I haven't SOLD

By Rob from Texas on December 8, 2017 Music Background: Living Room Rock Star!

I've had a constantly rotating stock of basses through the years. This one is the only one that I don't even consider selling/trading. I have been buying trading playing all the different makes and models so I can find "the one for me" and I feel like I've already found it. I have long fingers and the neck, although much thicker than most, fit's perfect. I have full access to every fret without any reaching or straining and I can do it comfortably. I could see it not being favorable for someone with short fingers. The tone is absolutely amazing, I have an older model with the EMG Hz passive pickups paired with the active preamp. Compared to my full active ibanez it's not as bright BUT being a 34" scale and strung up BEAD with NYXLs off a 5 set it's not meant to be. The notes hit deep and full and sustain for days. The only modifications I have made are a Hipshot D-tuner and soon I'll be installing a set of active pickups (just because I have them laying around if they are too hot I'll go back to the original pickups). The price on this is a little high, but when you compare it with instruments that are even more expensive than this it becomes obvious how much value you are getting. I really can't see myself spending more to only get marginally better quality. If this isn't your main bass it certainly deserves a spot in your collection.

Favorite Bass

By Trevor from NYS on August 13, 2015 Music Background: Solo

I have many guitars and this one stands out as my favorite. I tell people its light and tight. Its almost too good to be true. Highly Recommended. I have the four and five string versions now. I would also recommend these over the stiletto custom. The few extra bucks are worth it.

WOW!!! BLOWN AWAY

By AL LUPINSKI from THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA on April 3, 2015 Music Background: I'M 63 YRS YOUNG PLAYING SINCE 14

MY NAME IS AL, I FIRST WANT TO TELL YOU WHAT A GREAT COMPANY SWEETWATER IS TO DEAL WITH. I FIRST ORDERED A SCHECTER STILETTO IN BLACK CHERRY AND RECEIVED THE BASS. I OPENED THE BOX AND TOOK THE BASS OUT TO MY SUPPRISE IT HAD A BOW IN THE NECK AND THE ACTION SET WAY TO HIGH AND OUT OF TUNE. RED FLAG WENT UP WHAT HAVE COULD HAVE GONE WRONG WITH THE 55 POINT INSPECTION. I CALLED SWEETWATER AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM AND WAS SENDING THE BASS BACK AND I WAS GOING TO CANCEL THE ORDER. I THEN WROTE AN EMAIL TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY MR. CHUCK SURAK AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. ABOUT ONE HOUR AFTER THE EMAIL THE PHONE RANG IT WAS JUSTIN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MGR. TELLING ME THAT THEY WERE VERY SORRY AND THAT THE BASS SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SHIPPED BECAUSE IT WAS A RETURN. THEY COULDN'T SEND ME ANOUTHER ONE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDERED. HE ASKED ME IF THERE WAS ANOTHER BASS I LIKED I SAID THE STILETTO 4 IN HONEY SATIN BUT IT WAS TOO MUCH MONEY FOR ME, SO JUSTIN MADE IT AFFORDABLE FOR ME IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. THEN DUSTIN KEESBURY SALES TECH CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME HE WOULD PERSONALLY CHECK THE BASS OUT AND WILL OVERNIGHT IT TOO ME. WOW!!!!! WHAT A COMPANY!!!! I RECEIVED THE BASS THE NEXT DAY, WELL WHAT A GREAT LOOKING BASS AND THE SOUND IS OUTSTANDING COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. SWEETWATER YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!! THANKS AGAIN TOO ALL. AL.

I LOVE THIS BASS!!!!

By Russ Rugg from Modesto, Ca. on July 21, 2014 Music Background: Semi Pro Drummer & bass entusiast

I've been around drums and guitars for most of my life and this is the most beautiful and best sounding bass I have ever been around, especially for the money. Everything from the 55 point inspection from Sweetwater's customer service, to the balance and playability of this guitar. No buzzing, no finish flaws, stays in tune for days, awesome hardware, the list goes on and on. The 18 volt active electronics are amazing and take some getting used to. I set all my eq's on my Fender amp to mid position and use the 3 band equalization on the guitar to fine tune my sound. That is way better than just a tone control. As you can tell, I love this beautiful bass I have named "Woody" and you will too! Why pay for the other guitars name and have the same bass everyone else has when for half the cost you will own a bass to last a lifetime. Thanks again Sweetwater!

Excellent Bass!

By Bob F. from N. Syracuse, NY on March 29, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

Being new to bass, I was looking for something affordable, yet with high quality. The Stiletto Studio met my expectations to a tee! I was totally impressed with the fit and finish and the quality of the hardware and electronics. And, this bass is not obnoxiously heavy....very comfortable to wear. Sound wise? Well, between the 3 band eq on the bass and the eq on my amp, I can dial in just about any bass sound I'll ever need. Best of all, the folks at Sweetwater had the unit to my door in just a few days...all tuned up and ready to rock. Thanks, Paul and Sweetwater!

Bass of all basses

By Charles Thompson from Chambersburg Pennsylvania on December 26, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist/Amateur Musician

When I opened the case for the first time I could hardly believe my eyes. The pictures on Sweetwater's website cannot do this beautiful baby justice. I looked hard for months at every bass I could find on the internet and chose this one. First, it is a playable work of art. Second, the action and playability is above and beyond anything I have previously encountered. Third, the sound is fantastic, and again beats anything I have ever played. The 3 band EQ gives you all kinds of room for "playing" with the tone. Thank you Ryan and the rest of the team at Sweetwater for all your efforts. I could not be any happier!!!

this is a Farrari

By Smalldog from Milwaukie, Ore on March 15, 2013 Music Background: Beginner

this bass is cut to fit and the fingerboard is perfect
The tones are endless and I can play all day
I have been playing a cheap bass I got for next to nothing...
I found alot of my problems were coming from the cheap bass...
Why learn to drive on a volkwagon when your goal is to drive a Farrai?

Beautiful Guitar

By Jon Brose from CULPEPER, VA on April 1, 2024 Music Background: Brass and Bass, 20+ years

I gravitate more towards natural finished guitars. I only give this a 4.5 star rating as I have yet to find the unicorn. The only real gripe I had was with the body strap button. It is in a different location because it is a thru-neck. You have to have a different strap or adjust it when going from guitar to guitar. It also does not fit the case that they recommend (see pic). Thier solution is just jam it in there. You spend $ on an instrument and $ to protect it, I expect it to fit (not the guitars fault). I play this guitar about 2 hours a day. It is heavy, so for session work it's great as it doesn't bounce around as easily. This one was the heaviest they had in stock which was just shy of 9 pounds. It probably stays in tune better than any other bass I have currently, but it is also newer. I do not/would not play this on stage.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

By P.J. from Swansea, MA on September 16, 2014

Let me start by saying I am an intermediate player, so I do not have vast knowledge of a ton of instruments.I was originally playing a Squire P-bass. This thing makes it look like a Toyota.I have definitely upgraded to a Cadillac. The fit and finish are impeccable and the tone it creates WOW. I love the small neck after playing the Squire. It is so easy to play it is almost effortless. I upgraded to this bass when the Stiletto Extreme was way back ordered and I am not sorry one bit. It was worth laying out the extra money. I can see playing this bass for many years to come.

I really wanted to love this bass, but…

By Scott Anderson from Minneapolis, MN on January 23, 2023

I was very excited when I got this bass. I love the look of it, and once I replaced the terrible stock strings with some flats (actually, tapewound), I loved the feel, too. There were a couple of rough spots in the finish on the body, but I could overlook that.

Unfortunately, the first time I took it to band rehearsal, I discovered that the blend pot had faulty wiring — turning it all the way to one end or the other would cause it to short out. That could be fixed by someone with basic soldering skills (i.e. not me), but what I discovered next could not.

The battery compartment is EXTREMELY tight, and hard to access (screwdriver required). The batteries are stacked, and almost impossible to get out. I had to use a spudger from my computer repair kit to pry them out. And since this bass has NO passive mode, if your batteries die during a gig, you better have another bass available to switch to. (Maybe that's why it's called "Studio," because it's not suitable for gigs?)

Anyway, this bass looks, feels and sounds great, but these flaws are absolute deal breakers for me, so I'm returning it. (Fortunately, the folks at Sweetwater are great about returns!)

Disappointed to say the least

By Andrew on October 22, 2018

I've had this bass for 7 years now and its been in its case under the bed since new.
Sure it looks good, feels good, plays well but even with everything adjusted to its maximum height there is no way of getting rid of the awful ugly clunking, knocking, puck puck puck sound from this bass when playing it.
Truss rod, bridge/saddle height, eq different strings and still I'm left with an expensive wall ornament that is unplayable.
7 years on and I'm still stuck with a bass guitar that is only good for home defence.
The tonal qualities are no better than a dairy cow with a hang over and a bad case of the runs.
If you are reading this, then you have been warned.
Please note this is no reflection on Sweetwater but my honest opinion based upon my own experience with this bass. It is a complete dud and unusable.
