New bass for this old man.

By Mark Howard from BONFIELD, IL on February 27, 2024

After not playing for 12 years, one of my old bands wanted to do a job. It was actually a job for a saddle club We played country at our bands last job 18 years ago for that dance. We did it last year. They wanted us back this year. I played classic rock for a few years with my old Peaveys. This Bass is amazing. After leaving it in the box for 24 hrs. I took it out ,tuned it and took off. It is smooth, fast and easy to play.

A bass that is worth four times what I paid for it!

By Glenn Gagnon from SPOKANE, WA on July 14, 2023 Music Background: Long-time multi-instrument musician/writer, multiple local bands

I've played bass (and other instruments) for more than thirty years, and have been lucky enough to utilize some wonderful ones from various manufacturers. The Schecter Stiletto Extreme 5 is not only visually gorgeous, but it plays like a dream. From the smoothness of the frets and strength of the neck to its balance - a hard thing to achieve in a five-string - and the range of sound coming from the active pickups is just as impressive. I am also very happy with Sweetwater and my sales engineer, Corbin Byler, for being very proactive about the service and satisfaction I received. Well done to all!

Best bass buy ever

BASSIST DREAM INSTRUMENT

By Greg Daugherty from Kentucky on November 5, 2019 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter/Bassist

Over the last 56 year's as a musician, I've owned numerous basses ranging from $300 to $3,000. This is my second Schecter Stileto and I find it to be as fine an instrument as I've ever played. The neck is very fast (narrow) and it's sound, unbelievable! Sweetwater set this one up for me befor shipping it out. A superb job and another thrilled customer

Awesome Schecter Bass

By SCOTTY from Sun Valley, NV on July 25, 2019

123I would like to thank Will on his advise and thoughts, and to the Sweetwater team for a great job done. When I received the box I let the box cool down for hours, as it was pretty hot from being on the delivery truck and outside also. I'm glad I bought the Schecter case and the humidifier packs to have the Bass shipped to me in. SMART! When I was getting the Bass ready to play, I was just in awe how well it was put together and is so hot looking. The neck which I was worried about since I couldn't see or inspect it, was awesome Schecter neck quality as they are known for. Very impressed. I played it for hours and was very pleased on how it sounded, I was able to create and get the tones I wanted. The neck is sweet and fast to play, all the fret edges were nice and smooth. The strings were even still good, lol. This Bass will be my primary from now on, until I upgrade and get the Studio model, lol.

Incredible instrument

By Vanya from Los Angeles on February 28, 2019 Music Background: pro musician

I was gonna get a totally different bass but than while waiting for that bass I tried this one and it won me over even more expensive LTD. This bass is really fun to play. Has a super solid construction, nice tight neck, hardware is excellent, everything is just right and screams quality. It came set up to play right out of the box. Built in pickups are really good and powerful and they allow for versatility. Looks absolutely beautiful. Now I wish they offered matte finish and I wish this red in the middle would be little brighter. It requires a lot of light to show that beautiful red quilted top in the middle. On stage it's noticable though but looks totally black without light pointed at it. That's the only thing I wish I could change, finish, burt that's personal preference. Other than that this is a phenomenal instrument, one of my favorite ones I owned in 15+ years of playing bass professionally.
P.S. Needless to say SweetWater and Ryan Wiltermood did amazing job at making this and every purchase timely and smooth.

Best Bass EVER!!!

By ButterBean from Rome on February 27, 2019 Music Background: Hobbyist

I bought this bass based on stock photos, I loved it's looks and was drawn to it. I've been struggling with losing my job and this bass is the ticket. It's so fun to play, I plug it in to my rig and it almost plays itself!!! The tones are exquisite and with my Sweetwater sales engineers it was so easy to change my order to my dream bass rather than the typical fare I was going to order.

Unbelievable tone

By Michael York from Houston Texas on February 26, 2019 Music Background: Bassist

This Bass really cuts through. Unbelievable clarity and punch. I am very satisfied with it. Thanks Eric for recommending this Bass.

Exceeded all of my expectations !!!

By Vanja Kapetanovic from Redondo Beach, CA on May 21, 2018

I just got this bass and it really exceeded my expectations. Big thanks to Ryan Wiltermoodas he always does incredible job in meeting my needs and making things workout. Also Sweetwater made this delivery flawless and in time as always.
So I was gonna get LTD F415FM… and than I did so. But this one kept having my attention so I ordered this one as well and I knew I will send one back because I didn't have money to keep both. After testing them both side by side and I gotta say this one just sounded better to me and it was much more fun to play. It feels great in my hands and has a sound that suits me personally better. LTD was little more punchy in the midrange and had little more "pop" or clarity due to his powerful EMG's. But this bass had more character and better vibe. It's really hard to go by these non technical descriptions but try to imagine what I am talking about. This bass has a thicker low end and it's slightly scooped in the midrange while LTD has less low end and more pronounced midrange.
It's all personal preference but I just felt this bass is overall more balanced from string to string and just sits in the mix better. I play hard and heavy music and go through Tech21 DP3X dUg Pinnick signatiure pedal and this bass just has nicer thicker growly sound through my setup than the other one.
It came perfectly setup to play right out of the box, action is great, neck feels awesome. 6 bolts o the back are a great feature they give me feel off extra stability and it also looks very cool and modern with slight cherry redness that comes out when a lot of light is directed towards the bass (stage is a good example).
Pickups sound great. I am telling you more money doesn't mean better bass. EMG's just didn't do it for me and Schecter's Hummbuckers just had better vibe and more character. Also it's bolt on and I feel that I always gravitated more towards bolt on sound than neck through. This bass is certainly suitable for any genre in my opinion but will probably shine in pop/rock or metal.
I think it's hard to beat this bass at this price really and I strongly recommend you to try it for yourself as it's really hard to understand all of what I am talking about until you have it in your hands and put it through your setup in your band or recording. I am sure most people will LOVE this bass if you try it.
Great for live or studio. Try it.

Good to go

By Doug Gamble on December 7, 2017 Music Background: I've been playing bass guitar over 50 years

Good to go . I am extremely happy with my new bass. It's like Schechter made it just for me. It is lighter than my old Schecter bass, which is why I purchased it ( Bad back ) The neck is more comfortable, fits my hand better. The pick ups sound better, very quiet compared to my old one. They make a great guitar at a great price. Didn't like the Ernie Ball strings it came with. Love the color!

Great sound

By Sweetwater Customer from NY, NY on August 11, 2011

First of all, I received the bass the next day even though I was told that since I ordered it on a Thursday night I probably wouldn't receive it until Monday. It sounds great! And it doesn't weight much, which was a primary concern for me since I am a girl. I would recommend this bass to anyone.

Good with build flaws

By Sweetwater Customer from IA on September 8, 2023

It sounds good and is really beautiful. Problem is: It came to me with a pit in the 12 fret inlay. It's not *too* obvious but feels weird when fretting. The nut also just. . . fell off when changing my strings.

Sexy and Sweet

By Tristan Heberlein from Seattle on December 24, 2016

Aside from just looking sexy as hell, this thing plays nicely. Though they're marketed as metal basses, this bass can sound both aggressive and edgy, as well as silky smooth, depending on pickup & eq knob adjustments. So, for how they look and sound, they're both amazing. I'm a bit disappointed, however, at how often I have to adjust the bridge...seems the my strings slowly lower, and I keep having to raise them up at the bridge (whatever those allen wrench screws are called that raise and lower the height of each string at the bridge). I've never had to do this on a regular basis. Also, one of the knobs seems to rub against the body of the bass while turning it. Seems like it shouldn't have passed inspection because of it. Not a big deal, but just a minor nuisance.

bass guitar

By danny from new albany, IN on October 10, 2015 Music Background: have been playing over 20yrs. bass, guitar, keys.

A great guitar for the price, good crisp tone , good low end. I can't say anything bad about it. I have small hands so this is the bass for me, brings back memories. Thanks sweetwater and a special thanks to Kurt.

One issue

I love it. The action is perfect. The tone is great. However, it has developed a noise in the volume control pot.
