Schecter Stiletto Extreme
I am very happy with the playability and quality of this instrument. I also own a 4003 Ric, and an American Precision. I am used to playing quality basses. I was attracted to the look and thought it would be a nice bass for home use to learn new material but it is so well built that I use it for some shows as well. Great tone too. I get compliments about it often and even allayed a few songs on it at the Whisky A-Go-Go in LA.
Looking for bass this is a good one.
My first four string bass. This was a no brainer the price and the quality and the range is exceptional. I changed the strings to flatwound to really step up the low rnd on this bass. Product overall is made really well. For a lower mid price range bass you cant go wrong. Schecter on the left in photo.
Best guitar in the $ range.
I bought this to learn bass. It's way easier to play and handle than Fenders. It sounds super. It's active only so don't let the battery run dead. I play mine every week and church. I've heard so many compliments about the bass sound. Great investment!
One of the best!!
I've been playing bass since 1988 and have had the opportunity to play some sweet basses over the years.
This bass is one of the very best that I've played!!
The action is nice and low with no buzzing and you can get any tone you want, from slap bass tones to that 70s old school bass tone.
I love this bass!
I have others but this is my number one.
Worth Every Penny
If you're on the fence, got off it and pull the trigger. This thing is badass. Better than advertised. Setup right out of the box. Took it to my local guitar store to be sure. Love the feel and sound of this beauty. I expected a step up from my Ibanez, but not that big of a difference. Thank you #Sweetwater for an absolutely amazing buying experience.
Bass
Great bass first bass I've ever played
Sounds great
Good for any level
Fantastic little bass
Can't beat it for the price. Great sound, can dial in a lot of different tones. It has a great, easy to play neck and even better, it's small and really light. I have a Fender Precision as well which I love but the Schecter is more playable. Excellent investment.
All About The Bass
To say it's beautiful would be an immense understatement. If I can learn how to play to even approximate that beauty would be a dream I've had since my first bass at age 14. That was only 60 years ago. Bopp 'til you dropp!
Phenomenal Bass
This bass is a great product for an entry point for a amateur bass enthusiasts that I am.
Very good top end, and low end with the EQ controls.
Love it from the first time I plugged it in.
Also hats off to Aaron Cieslikowski my sales engineer, and all the support personnel who have been there for throughout all my purchases.
" SWEETWATER" Best 5 STAR music store I have done business since beginning my journey.
Thank you SWEETWATER
Affordable Great Bass
Another Schecter Stiletto home run! I own three now and each one has been great!! The looks, the sound, everything! If you don't want to break your bank, but want a great bass, give Schecter a try. You won't be sorry.
Awesome guitar!
I'm new to playing bass but I've played guitar for years. This guitar looks and plays like a $2k guitar. The detail and craftsmanship is excellent. It looks awesome and sounds great! Also Sweetwater is the place to buy one. Their multi-point check and packaging was top notch. I am SUPER HAPPY with this choice!
Really nice bass
Returning to bass after many years off, playing just for my own amusement and enjoying this bass a lot. I use Vox bass headphones and plug my iPod in and away I go. I have had some excellent basses in the past including an Alembic and an original XFactor and this bass is right up there with them. I love the neck and the sound is really good too. The price is an added bonus, highly recommend this bass to anyone.
New to bass.
Beautiful and flawless. It came in tune and ready to play, everything on this guitar feels solid and tight. Surprisingly fast neck. I'm new to bass but this guitar makes learning easy and fun, would highly recommend this for beginners, you won't be disappointed.
The bass is amazing, great for experimental stuff and it handles slap bass better then any bass I have. It is really responsive and great for tapping as well. Its really fun for solo play and pedals. The pickups are amazing and the tone options are versatile.
I would still rather bring a P bass for band stuff as it seems to hold the low end better than most bass guitars but this shecter would be work well for a metal show. I love this guy and I already have been playing it more than my P bass! LOL!
Love This Bass!
This is a beautiful and well made instrument. As advertised, it comes out of the box set-up and ready to play. I've played this live and it's reliable - feels pro, don't let the great price fool you. The active pickups and tone controls are really versatile. I've covered metal, country, motown, rock, etc. with it, just takes some experimenting. Most importantly, it's just fun to play. As a guitarist moving to bass I found the neck easy to navigate and comfortable. Super impressed with this Schecter!
Sounds as good as it looks
For the money, you'd be hard pressed to find a better bass guitar. There are some that would be equal, but not many. First of all, yes, it does look every bit as good in person as it does in the photos (the one thing the photos don't fully do justice to is the in-lays - pearl overlapping mother of pearl). Kind of a classy look, I think, that would be equally at home in jazz or in goth rock - incidentally my two main genres. The sound is great, though as I have seen other reviewers mention, it does favor the lower end. The higher notes sound great too, but the lower end... you feel it. The playability is excellent - the neck feels very natural and comfortable in my hand.
Now, onto Sweetwater themselves. This was my first time buying from them. It won't be the last. I had originally intended to get the Schecter Omen Elite from one of their competitors. It was out of stock, but I was told that they would have more in a few weeks. Well... the day after ordering it on reserve, I got a call saying that it was a scratch and dent (the website said no such thing, which the caller acknowledged)... now, while the finish on the guitar they had in stock was "perfect," it was missing the knobs. I felt like that was kind of a big deal, as I had believed that I was ordering a complete guitar. I asked if I could wait the few weeks for a complete guitar to be in stock... they said no. This had me a little irritated with them, and I had dropped some good money with them in the past. I told them to cancel my order.
I'd stumbled across Sweetwater somewhat prior to that, trying to figure out which bass I wanted to be my next one. They didn't have the Omen Elite that I had wanted, so I went with the Stiletto Extreme. I was extremely pleased with my experience with Sweetwater. I love that they do the inspection - while I've had other guitars come to me in the mail with some loose bits and pieces, or maybe needing a truss rod adjustment, this one was good to go out of the box. Customer service was excellent and exceeded all expectations, and the guitar was packed with a lot of care (might have been a very good thing, as the outer box was in somewhat rougher shape).
Great little bass
At this price you get a great feeling bass for the money. Smooth pretty and sounds great for the money. Really good value.
Second bass for a new player
My second bass and I couldn't be happier. Fast neck, super clean tone, beautiful finish, next to zero neck dive. Simply a joy to play.
My favorite bass ever i used a bunch of other basses and nothing beats the hand made quality of this bass
Amazing product 10/10 get out of the reviews and buy it already plays like 1000 bucks
My Rita
This is my 3rd bass and by far the best to date.
Perfect Intermediate Bass (for me)
First - I learned on a Squier P-Bass and was in the market for an intermediate bass that I could continue to grow into over the next few years and I'm happy to say that I've found it in this bass. Since it's so much faster and tighter than the Squier, I can just get around on it a lot easier. I could play more intricate fills and cleaner slap seemingly overnight and since it doesn't have that big block where the neck comes off the body on the Squier, it's really easy (and comfortable) accessing the upper register. Feels almost like cheating.... almost! Ha!
Second - Tone was a major data point for me in my research. I like playing warmer, Motown, funk, R&B type stuff so I wanted to make sure that something like this would be able to deliver on that end. I didn't want something too bright (I went with the Rotosound steel wound strings as well). Going from my PJ pickups to the dual Humbuckers and Active EQ meant that I could not only get my favorite tones, but I had more options for tone as well to fit any jam. Can't wait to put it through some filters and fuzz to really get weird with it.
Third - Tyler Dvorak and the guitar ops team. Tyler worked with me over the course of multiple days listening to me rant about the various options I was considering. The guy has played bass for a long time and didn't seem to mind geeking out with me, staying patient and motivated through every step of the process. The ops team did a fine job on my custom setup.
I prefer a higher action and absolutely loath fret buzz, especially when I'm going off. They listened and delivered.
I had never ordered a guitar online before and was definitely skeptical at first, but I love this thing and couldn't be happier with the "Sweetwater experience." No issues with shipping either (prompt, well packaged, etc.).
Perfectly Playable and Exceptionally Beautiful
The overall design from the shape of the body to the thickness of the neck just seems perfect. I can't quite explain why but the neck especially just feels effortless to glide up and down on. It really is designed for maximum playability. This bass is just an absolute joy to play on. No gimmicks, just great design.
The pickups and controls sound great and are definitely flexible for most play styles and music genres.
The photos I saw online looked great but you really have to see it in person to really appreciate how absolutely beautiful this instrument is. Looks are secondary for me. So the fact it looks amazing as well is a bonus.
For me this instrument really excels on all points. Pretty much flawless execution on design and quality in my opinion.
Love my new Schecter
I absolutely love this bass. Just like with my C-1, it has a pretty fast fret board and it's absolutely fun to play. Schecter has been my favorite since picking up my C-1 and as soon as I saw the Stiletto Extreme, I knew I had to have it.
I can't wait to order my 5 string and my Omen 7 string.
Awesome !
As a beginner bassist, I love this Schecter, first it's a beautiful looking bass and the sound is great, a nice deep bass sound that rocks !!And the customer service is nothing short of outstanding !!! Deanna is the best, extremely helpful, knows her product and is just a great asset to Sweetwater and her customers, thanks again !
I love it enough to write a second review
After playing this bass for six months I'm ready to give my second review. I love it more than the day I unboxed it. I have two other basses, a Rickenbacker 4003W and a Sterling SUB. They have been sitting in their cases since the arrival of this Schecter. The main reason is the neck on this bass. It is the fastest and easiest bass I have ever played. Absolutely superb. The other thing is the sound. I use a MXR Phase 95 lightly to give it ambient, and it complements it perfectly. The controls are perfect, having only one volume knob for both pickups. BUY IT! You won't be sorry!
Amazing Bass
I bought this bass to add a bass with active EQ. Sweetwater technicians did an excellent job of setting it up. It plays great, meets everything that I required in this bass. My only negative comment would be that the volume control only seems to effect the volume the last 25% of the range of motion. With that I still think it's a great bass for the money. Wayne gave me some great advice as usual.
An Awesome Bass
I splurged on this a few years ago and still love the quality. I tested it out in a store and chose it over another bass by a brand I had eyes on because this one had a fuller sound. It hasn't disappointed at all after bringing it home and playing it on a medium powered, very clean-sounding amp. This bass has a strong, naturally warm sound plus responsive tone knobs. The fingerboard looks and feels super nice. Combined with a satin neck, this bass is never not fun to play. I'm using it to learn on, but it has enough quality to perform with. Other people complemented on its sound and style.
Great bass at this price point!
I needed a bass with a dual active humbucker configuration to accept some new pickups I had ordered and this one fit exactly what I was looking for. The hardware is great, the neck feels great, the body shape and size suit me well, and the original pickups did sound great in the short time I kept them in. The finish is perfect; what appears to be black in the photos is actually very dark cherry. The only issue I had was the action was far too low out of the box but that's more of a matter of preference and easily remedied.
Sounds Looks and Plays Great
I have had it for 4 months, Use it on all my C sharp tuning (Sabbath) I was impressed right from the start,.
Thank you for Cody who worked with my and Helped with the Decision, You can,t go wrong with this bass.
Sounds as good as it looks!
I'll list the things I love about this bass guitar. The finish: absolutely beautiful. The weight: lightest bass I've ever played. Sound: perfect, wide range, create any sound you want. Neck: sweet and fast. Inlays: amazing. Volume and tone controls: perfect and uncluttered. Tune keys: smooth and easy. Bridge: great. Overall: PERFECT! Things I changed: took off the Ernie Ball bridge cables and replaced with extra light gauge SIT strings.

Nice Bass
This bass has all you could want. Nice tone, comfortable neck and fret board. Love the finish on this bass, I would highly recommend this guitar. It's alot of bass for not a ton of money.
Exactly What I Wanted
I tried this bass out at a local guitar store and fell in love with the feel and sound of it. The neck is super fast. It also doesn't have the neck dive of other basses I was looking at. I heard great things about Sweetwater's service and the 55 point inspection, so I decided to buy it from them. I have not regretted that decision once. The communication thoughout the entire process was amazing. I received it in perfect condition and ready to play immediately out of the box. Sweetwater really cares about what they do and how they do it. Truly exceptional experience. Will purchase from them again.
Great bass
Very nice sounding bass. Easy to play with lots of control for tone. Would highly recommend!
A really great bass for the price.
It's very solid for the price. The neck feels great and looks stunning. It's genuinely impressive to have beautiful inlays on rosewood in such an affordable instrument. The pickups sound great, and the active EQ is pretty nice. Mine came with a minor defect on one of the inlays, but by the time I realized it was way out of return period. It's the schecter look and (usually) quality without the premium price of their higher end models. All in all; incredible for the price, beautiful topwood and finish, and pretty good electronics. Get a thick strap.
Super
Just got mine letting it sit a few days and start setting it up nice finish so far so good
Input jack failing
My first bass, plays very nice and has a great tone, but less than a year in and the input jack is failing. I don't play it all that much and take very good care of my instruments... really surprised something in this price range would have such poor wiring.
