These plugins are straightforward and easy to use. No drawing mountains and valleys with these plugins; it forces you to use your ears instead of your eyes. They are also consider industry standard plugins, so I'm glad to have them in my arsenal.

What a deal
This SSL package is a much have. I am in training to be an audio engineer. I was advised to get the SSL plug in because it is an industry standard for mixing. When one of my Engineer friends and mentors came over after I installed these plugins, he was amazed that I paid what I paid for the SSL package. What a deal. I'm set up to make some great recordings and albumns now. Thank you sweet water!
Bright, Smooth and Loud
I had my eye on this plugin for years, but could never afford it. With the recent large price drop, I jumped on it and was very glad I did. The 8K boost gives me a brightness I cannot achieve with anything else. Makes my older guitar strings sound like new ones and gives my vocal top end a simmer I really like. The compressor results in a smoother and louder sound that is excellent. Overall I am in total awe of this brilliant software.
The SSL 4000 collection works
I heard that the SSL plugins were great so I went ahead and bought them. It turns out that they are awesome! The presets get you close, making your mix better, and twerking them takes your mix to a whole new level. Suddenly I was thinking....this sounds like a hit CD.
Excellent plug ins
This SSL plug in bundle is outstanding, very precise, very accurate when carving out unwanted frequencies, these plug ins work exceptionalon well on any type of sound u are wanting to enhance, a must have
I now have my dream SSL
Back in "87" I had the chance to record on a SSL console for the first time !
The recording sessions went well and I wanted an SSL console if I ever hit the lotto
Thanks to Waves I got my wish
Install was easy and presets were a nice start with dialing in for taste .
So good I paid for it ;)
You all know what this is and yes, it's as good as everyone says it is.
Does it sound like the real deal? I've used many consoles and the one thing I can say is, not even two channels on the same console sound the same. Most studios with consoles know which channels sound best for drums, bass, vocals, and so on.
All that being said, once you learn how to use these plugins you will grow to rely on them. They are so good I use them over most plugins I already have.
The E Channel is perfect for drums. It's compressor is nice and the expander/gate allows you to dial in the right amount of separation allowing you to use a secondary compressor to slam a kick or snare.
The buss compressor is gold, absolute gold and I've used it for many many projects for individual busses as well as the master buss.
Basically, you need these plugins so buy them and get to work.
SSL 4000 Collection Plug-in Bundle
This may be my very best purchase from sweetwater yet. Words cannot describe the warmth ease of use of these plugins. Truly amazing.
Essential Plugin Bundle
I have many plugins including eq's and compressors. I find these plugins somewhere in every one of my recording sessions. Excellent emulation and sound that ads to any track in such a way that makes a profound difference in the quality of sound. So very versatile for any track. It helps give my tracks that professional sound and glue with the compression that is unmatched by most of my plugins.
SSL4000 is just like the real thing
Having this plug-in is like having an SSL console in my home, it sounds awesome!
SSL-4000 Rocks
I had been looking at the Waves SSL-4000 Plug-in Bundle for a few years, but everytime I got the itch to take a chance and buy it, it was never on sale. I thought $ for a plug-in was a bit over the top. I read most of the reviews, and watched some demo videos online, and waited for the next time it went on sale.
I have recorded on SSL consoles, so when I read reviews that say things like "get a real SSL Console in a plug-in", I am somewhat skeptical. I took the plunge, and bought the SSL plug-in.
I inserted the SSL on a few of my existing Pro Tools tracks. I immediately noticed a huge difference on my guitar tracks. On double guitar tracks, I inserted the G Channel on pan left, and the E Channel on pan right, and then pressed the Phase on one side, and the Analog buttons on both. Instant punch!
I then inserted the SSL into my vocal tracks. It definitely made the vocals stand out. I tried both E and G channels, and each have different, subtle characteristics. I still have to play around with the plug-in, so I have a lot to learn.
At first, I really couldn't tell a huge difference between the Analog and Digital buttons. I didn't hear any distinct "Analog" sound, but that all changed after Joel, my Sweetwater guy, told me a trick to use with the SSL. You insert a trim pot, before the SSL Plug-in, and it allows you to drive the heck out of the SSL.
(For Pro Tools users, the trim pot comes with the free plugins)
I also tried inserting the SSL Compressor on my Master Channel. I haven't been blown away by that yet. Some of the presets were a bit harsh, so I need to work with it for a while.
I have to say, I am definitely impressed. The SSL is a quality plug-in, and clearly adds some "good stuff" to my tracks. I need to see what others are doing with this plug-in.
When the SSL Bundle is on sale, it is definitely worth the investment!
Best investment I made this year
This was the best investment I made in my studio this year. Its not an instant fix to make your mixes sound better but it's taken my mixes to another level. If you are used to having a visual (like most stock eq and channel strips) it can be tough to make the adjustment, but if you can handle using a channel strip, this plug sounds great.
The best way I can describe it is it takes the track from "here" to "HERE". Its not necessarily just louder or more present, it just added to the tone. When added on each track (or the essential tracks if you are limited in CPU power) it will add up exponentially.
I also like using them on the master bus to give me a little more "it" factor on the total mix. Bottom line, if you can make the investment, and you have a decent grasp of how to use eq and compression its worth the money.
Sounds just like an SSL
If your looking for a classic sound like an API, Neve or Trident this isnt for you. I bought the bundle for other clients that want SSL sound. I personally find SSL a bit cold for me. Though good for surgical stuff.
Sounds just like an SSL! Scratchy un-smooth hi end in the EQ. Amazing the way emulated everything I dislike about the SSL sound! lol The Gates are ok and the the channel compressor sounds modern without too much color. It will do the job. However I do like the buss comp which is what I wanted to begin with. It is getting lots of use. And since the whole bundle was only $... it was a no brainer to have it.
