good luck

By Adam O. from ARGOS, IN

Bought a total of 6 of these. The amps are junk and blow easy. 3 out of 6 blew during soundcheck. 3 different times I lost one. Sweetwater did a great job of replacing them. Shout out to them. I spent the extra money and went RFC and havent had an issue yet.. jbl still havent got back with the reason why they blew. They are adequate when they work. JBL=junk but loud.

Low End

By Jacob P. from Vacaville ca
Music Background: Touring musician, now FOH engineer

The Jbl Srx828 has an impressive low end range and feel.
I have done many events where I used to use 2-3 separate subs, now I just take my duel 18's
Great punch and low end feel.
Already saving up to buy another set

Awesome Sub

By Dylan

Bought 2 of these to pair up with my Srx835p. Couldn't be happier. Not as loud as I might have hoped but quality they sound as good or better than anything else in this price range! Comparable to Rcf any day or any other big name! Price wise right on point! You can buy the Rcf 9007 dual 21 for about $ and two of these bad boys will exceed it for $ less. But the will take up more room. I'm very pleased once again JBL. Thanks for a great product at a great price! I gave 5 stars but I think they should come with casters and not have to purchase separate.

Excellent Service from Will Crisp

By Donny T. from Stafford Springs
Music Background: DJ

So I bought these bad boys about a week and a half before a July 4th gig I had to do. The delivery driver messed up and didn't bring it, so with 2 days to go I called Will. I told him man this is no good! He said have no fear to me and overnighted them. They were there 10 hours later in time to BANG for the July 4th gig. Everyone loved my partner and I, 5 stars all the waaaaay!!!

only sub close to the professional stuff like RCF

By Tyler M. from ithaca, NY
Music Background: sound company, recording studio, session musician

this thing has the sound of way more expensive subs. the compact box is great for indoors, runs out a little bit outdoors if not coupled with 2 a side or 4 in the center. for the price nothing comes close.

This product is Awesome. JBL has hit a home run with the design, coupled with the Crown power it should be a fantastic pairing. Cannot wait to play for a large crowd to open up the gain.

COULD BE MORE RELIABLE

By Tony from Ohio
Music Background: Dj for friends and fun

I will say when the speaker worked it sounded great.

I spent $... for this speaker and only got to use it 12 times in 3 years before the amp decides to blow. 2 1/2 months after the warranty the amp stopped working, the repair bill was $... Sweetwater tried to work with JBL to get this covered under warrantee by the refused. I sent a complaint to JBL and this is their reply "Hello, unfortunately there"s not anything we can offer you at this point". Myself and the Sweetwater Tech was surprised that JBL did not stand behind there product better.

This bad review is no reflect on Sweetwater at all. They knew I was in a time crunch and did an AWESOME job of expediting the repairs to get the speaker back to me before it next use!

This sub bumps.

By Cody from Saint Augustine, Florida
Music Background: Production Director, FOH engineer, Musician

We as a church purchased two of these for a new mobile video campus we opened. Powered subs sometimes already get bad rep. But these subs have plenty of headroom in cafetorium we run them in. They fill the room with ease. We peak at about 95db A weighted in our worship experience with a pretty bass heavy mix and these subs hold up great. We are talking about getting them for our other locations. They were a little bigger in person than we thought they were going to be but we put casters on the back and it makes them very easy to move around when we set up or tear down. Definitely would suggest them and or buy them again!

Solid!

By Chris I. from Dallas, TX
Music Background: Hip Hop, Metal, Country, Jazz, Pop, etc.

I've been a JBL fan for live audio since the late 80s. I was brutal on tour with both SR and MR series cabinets and they never let me down—hundreds of gigs with no blown speakers or drivers. Bulletproof. But the true test is audio quality. I've used other brands that were durable, but muddy in the low end. JBL subwoofers are never flabby or muddy. This low end is TIGHT.

Insane!

By Michael C. from Camden NJ
Music Background: Worship team drummer and audio engineer

I went to test these things out at samash and did some comparisons with the EV subs and others and this sub blew me away. The one dual 18 alone with one srx 815p top filled the whole samash store amazingly the punch on this thing hit me in the chest unlike any other sub without any EQ or adjustments. So amazed with this dual 18.

Strong Low-End

By Eric B. from North Carolina
Music Background: Musician, DJ and Sound Technician

I'm going to start off by stating, I've been a sound technician for over 15 years. I've seen stronger systems. BUT, not in this price range with an amp and DSP built right in. I haven't purchased the 2 or 3-way tops to match this subwoofer yet, but I let it handle the low end under a couple Bose F1 812 tops. I was VERY happy with the output and tightness of the punch.

Harmon-JBL states the max SPL at 1meter is 141db peak, and you need to understand what 141db truly is to appreciate it. Without comparing apples to oranges, I'll try to explain what I mean. Many powered subs on the market right now are selling to a target demographic of mobile and wedding DJs. An occasional exception such as the Bose F1 systems are marketed as front of house systems for bands. The F1 sub, while very strong (1000watts) and having extremely tight bass, is limited in output and long-throw because they are dual 10" boxes. They achieve 130db max SPL.

The distinction I'm trying to impart here is... From 130db to 141db max is a listener's perceived doubling in volume. TWICE.

The big take-away from this is; You are not buying a DJ system here. Unless you do most of your DJing outdoors or in very large double gymnasiums filled with people. This is a bass system where, with the proper equipment sending the signal, you can hear your music's strong and full bass 80+ yards away (unobstructed). The throw on this system is phenomenal. You won't be disappointed for outdoor live band use. If you're a sound tech for a hard-hitting rock, rap or will have 5000+ in your audience, you might want to consider 2-4 systems to keep from pushing this beast to its max on every kick drum hit.

Good Product

By Chuck from GA
Music Background: Jack of All Trades

I perform with a handful of bands in my area, and although I own my own small-medium sized QSC setup (KW 153s, K12s, K10s, K8.2s, KSubs) along with a couple of lesser 18" subs, one of the area professional sound companies I find myself working with uses these models. Sometimes their setup will include two, sometimes four SRX828SP cabs. One particular gig was outside with four of these and four of the JBL 3-way tops, and the quality was excellent for a large parking lot concert. Of course, the sound guy knew what he was doing, also, so props to all the good sound guys out there. Just based on my experience as a performer (and not actually owning these *yet*), I would not hesitate to purchase one or more of these subs.

OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE!

By Richard L. from FL

"Omg what have I done" is exactly what I said when these bad boys got delivered and that was before I tried them out. You don't have to look any further... ENDLESS CLEAN BASS, PURE POWER that will rattle the screws out of a 5000 square foot building! A pair of these JBL's will laugh at any "high bass demanding" hip hop music that you throw at them... I had to back them down!!!!!

Money well spent!

By Craig from Wilmington, NC
Music Background: Disc Jockey

I have always been a JBL fanatic. For 30 years now, I have been using JBL for my sound reinforcement. This latest purchase was to replace my passive system which was 2 JBL STX818s and a Crown i-Tech 6000 amp. I wasn't completely WOWed when I first hooked up the STX818s and the Crown amp. My feelings that if I am pumping 1,500 watts of power to each cabinet, then I should be really feeling the thump. But I wasn't. Make no mistake, the passive setup was good, but something told me to go another route. After reading dozens of reviews from websites, I decided to purchase the SRX828SP without a demo hoping that I would find what I was looking for. WOW! is all that I can say. The response of this cabinet is fantastic. The on board computerized amp is very similar in nature and programming as the i-Tech amps are currently but much more user friendly than in the past. I can honestly say that this has been one of my best purchases in all of my years of DJing.

I am a one man show so of course I was a bit hesitant on purchasing such a large cabinet but with a hand truck and the strategic placement of handles on the speaker, I can load and unload this cabinet by myself with ease.

Bottom line, you won't be disappointed with this purchase. Nice work, JBL!

perfect thump

By fatz from san francisco
Music Background: singer, band leader

this is the first 2x18 i ever bought. I own one 828sp and two 815p. the tiny bare minimum PA. i use it for a small band with a drummer w/ loud kick drum and vocals. one thing i have to say, don't fall for buying used srx728's. they r everywhere on craigslist. the 18 in them has a 4inch vc and has been a solid sub you see everywhere. the new ones have just a 3inch vc. i was worried about that but it is not a problem. These new ones set up and transport so easy. everything is easy, just use the preset "srx top/srx sub". for me i turn down the tops 3db each. 3 year warranty, and they are SRX 800 series.
with PA's try and buy the bet most modern gear u can afford. there is NOTHING worse then singing thru a distorted PA. In the future i will get another 2x18 and two of the 835p's. very happy w/ bbl. and proud to own these bad*** speakers........

Almost 5 stars

By Jazz C.

I purchased 2 SRX828sp cabinets and they crank!!!! Over all Im happy with them....the only problem I came across thus far is rear control panel is limited. The SRX connect app works nicely and I muted one of the speakers.... however the next day I was unable to unmute the speaker from the rear panel I had to reconnect the ethernet and router to do it from the software..... So if I took them to a gig and wasn't planning on running the ethernet...I wouldn't have been able to unmute them (I called JBL to confirm this). Even a master reset option would work.

The purchasing experience was made super easy with Sweetwater's excellent customer service.

This active sub is just phenomenal. I have one of these units I recently installed in a gym for games. I've been asked "can we turn the bass down ?". Yes we can... How often do you have such a great product you have to reign it in?! Just buy this unit, you'll
be pleased.

Great cabinet and amplifer to drag around

By Taylor W. from Waco TX
Music Background: Sound Technician

I bought 4 of these cabs and have only used two of them so far. This is a great sounding cab with all the room you need to extend your low end. Every bass note, synth, and kick drum sound coming out from these speakers produces the quality you expect to hear.

I'm grateful that I no longer need a heavy power amp and road case for subs anymore. Less time to setup and less gear to drag out. I haven't had to use the other two because two cabs is enough. We are running sound for a rock group (Saliva) next week and look forward to seeing how they pair up on each side of the stage. You also have the option to setup your cabs in a cardioid configuration so there is less bass being projected from behind the speaker. Nice option. As written in the previous review, casters and padded cover are a must in my opinion.

This was a nice upgrade for are business and thank you to Jarod for helping us with this purchase.

Thunder!

By Chauncey from Cortland NY
Music Background: Working band for over 30 years!

I bought two of these to go with two JBL EON powered speakers, and I could not be more impressed! These speakers are clear and LOUD! Great options with the bluetooth connectivity and with a cover and caster kit, you can keep them nice and transport them easily as well! A+++. We used them for an outdoor gig and they handled it with power to spare!
