Had two, now own 4
After owning a pair for 5+ years originally purchased from Sweetwater, I am back at it again buying a second pair for backup and large outdoor events. These speakers paired with he SRX818SP can fill a room perfectly and sound even more amazing outdoors.
Vocal clarity on these is one of the main reasons I was sold on this speaker and 5 years later I haven't 2nd guessed it. Its why I now own two pairs.
Thank you Alex my Sales associate for the great support and help.
JBL
I love these JBL powered speakers. They are loud and clear. I own 4 of these speakers and run them through a 16 Chanel mixer.
Awesome!!!
Ive had these speakers for 3 years now and my only regret is not buying the next size up. These speakers can take a pounding and sounds excellent at loud levels. The Twin 18 power sub woofers are an excellent compliment to these speakers
The Finest
Simply the best! So clean and clear. In fact, when I plugged in a mic for the first time, I was almost convinced that the speaker was inoperative until I spoke a few words because the speakers were completely silent until I spoke. Wow!
Many thanks to Brandon Eden who expertise as Sales Engineer always points me in the right direction.
Great HOW Speakers
We purchased four of these as well as two of the 828 subs for one of our church venues and they are very nice! When properly tuned, the SRX 800 series is awesome! We've had nothing but compliments on the sound -- some even said that they sounded better than the JBL VRX passive boxes that we rented along with Lab. gruppen amps while we were waiting on these things. As one of the FOH engineers, I would have to agree with them -- they do sound very nice. Tuning these boxes is painless and well worth it.
A real review
I bought these in Jan 2020, used them about 6 times in clubs.. loud? yes, clear? yes honestly, they check all the boxes of a good speaker.. but do not buy these for the DSP capability.. its sux and its not user friendly at all.. you may think, we this guy may not be competent enough.. I assure you, i know what i'm doing... and the app sux, clunky, not intuitive.. you'll need to hardware it to a router as well.. all i wanted to do was true up the speaker with the on board eq and save the setting, you can't do that unless you have them hardwired to a router and all that bs.
Next, they are on the heavy side and the thing that really grinds my gears; they wobble on a stand! $... for a speaker and it wobbles, not just a little.. like you need to buy an adapter to take up the space... stupid right? Ev's don't wobble, Yamaha's, QSC's, turbosound's, Rcf's.. they don't wobble..
also, i had one speaker blow up on me and go into protect mode. No abuse, i plugged it in to demo them to a buyer, and yeah it blew up, talk about embarrassing. JBL warrantied the amp, no worries there, but used 6 times guys...
Currently, I use RCF speaker ART 7's MK II, i beat the snot out of them, had them for 8 years, paid $600ea for them, never a problem, sound just as good as any JBL speaker.
i have used high end db technologies and used junk alto's.. i would never recommend these speakers to anyone.. EV's, RCF's.. give you more bang for your buck.. look to those brands instead.
