First Ibanez, first 6 string bass

By Ansley Wolak from Pompano Beach on February 14, 2023 Music Background: Mostly cover bands.

The bass arrived double boxed, and extremely well packaged. Out of the box the setup was perfect. Extremely low action, and played evenly across the entire board. The low B is tight and defined. Lots of tone options with the passive Barts. The output is good, but if you need a ton of boost you could always get a pedal. The bass is heavy, but balances well with a good strap. I will need to shield the the electronics cavity because I'm getting some noise, especially in my headphones. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and the bass is worth every penny. I've owned some high end basses, and this bass is on par with boutique basses I have owned. Some at 2X the cost.

Ibanez SR5006 Prestige

Oh my goodness, what a bass.
I am a seasoned player, I've been playing for many years and I have come across all the boutique basses you can imagine. I currently own Sadowsky's and Lull's, Wyn's and MTD's so I have a very good reference point to compare to.
This instrument is still expensive but it cost a FRACTION of what all these other botique basses cost and the quality is just is good. Instrument feels solid, craftsmenship is top notch and the tone on this baby is crystal clear thanks to the custom Barts.
I am so impressed with this instrument, so easy to play with the 16.5mm spacing especially for a 6 string.
The bass came perfectly set up and ready to go.
I will agree that the bass is SLIGHTLY low output but that is by no means an issue for me personally.
That's what the volume knob on your amp is for.

Great bass, definitely recommend.

Excellent Service

By Tony from Pennsylvania on February 9, 2016

I ordered an Ibanez SR5006EOL bass from Sweetwater…what a bass! I mean, really – what a bass!! It’s the best bass I ever saw or played. And it sounds excellent. If purchasing this bass, keep in mind that it has a low powered EQ system, not a juiced up preamp. There’s a big difference, especially if you’re used to basses with 9-18v preamps. This bass isn’t about power, it’s about tweaking in quality sound. If you need the big umphfff, buy a high-wattage amp. The service rep was excellent (still is), available anytime I call. He also called me a few times to make sure everything was great on my end. I never experienced customer service of this level. Excellent. Sweetwater knocked the ball out of the park. Going, going, gone!
