Ibanez Standard SR405EQM Bass Guitar - Surreal Blue Burst Gloss Reviews

5-string Electric Bass with Mahogany Body, Quilt Maple Top, 5-piece Maple/Rosewood Neck, Jatoba Fretboard, Humbucking Pickups, and 3-band EQ - Surreal Blue Burst Gloss

When you pick up an Ibanez SR405E electric bass, you're instantly greeted with that signature Ibanez feel. In fact, you'll be surprised by how close the Ibanez SR405E plays and sounds like its higher-end SR series siblings. That feel and general vibe is due in large part to the SR405E's sleek 5-piece maple/rosewood neck and its comfortable mahogany arched body, topped with a great-looking piece of quilt maple. As for tone, this one's loaded with two sonically flexible Ibanez PowerSpan humbucking pickups plus a 3-band EQ. All things considered, the Ibanez SR405E represents a sweet value for any bassist.

Outstanding Bass

By Bill from North California on March 19, 2024

If you are looking for a quality instrument at a reasonable price point, then this is it. Everything about this bass is top notch. Fit and finish, playability, sound, etc...everything rates five stars. The electronics are very impressive. The pickups and three-band EQ provide great tonal variety. This bass is a tone monster when played through my GK combo amp, and it even sounds great with my little Fender Rumble 40 practice amp.

I have found just one very minor limitation to this bass. Because of the manner in which the jack is positioned, my wireless transmitters will not fit properly, so I am using a cable with a straight connector for now. However, this can be easily overcome either with a male-female extension, or with a short cable and a female-female connector.

Bottom line: It's a keeper. I love playing this bass!

Ibanez rules

I never was a big Ibanez fan UNTIL I got my first one,,they have the best necks hands down,,the blue burst on this one is absolutely gorgeous ,,5 strings are usually wide necks but not this one,,it feels very comfortable and is very easy to play,if you are looking for a 5 string you can't go wrong with this one

Excellent back up bass!

By Ken from NE PA on February 3, 2023

At this point in my life I get new guitars and basses because of the appearance causing my wife to want it, so if it's usable that's all that matters. I never owned an Ibanez before but have 3 other basses and wanted another 5 string to back up my main one. Wow - was I impressed with what I got for the cost. Fit and finish are excellent, no sharp edges and sound options are great. I'm so appreciative for Chris making this happen and being able to choose the one we wanted (thanks Sweetwater!}. This is an excellent back up and also would be an excellent bass if you only have one. Good strings, good sound, easy playability, looks great, not too heavy for a 5 string, highly recommended!! No need to spend more when Ibanez is making this quality and Sweetwater is looking it over first. One of my basses costs $3000 now and this blows it away!! Thanks Chris and Sweetwater for providing such a nice product!

Amazing bass for the price!!

By Michael Wiley from Taylor, AZ on September 15, 2022 Music Background: Semi professional musician

As a guitar player I've ordered gear at Sweetwater before. This was my first instrument purchase and I couldn't be happier. Certain projects required I purchase a bass and after a lot of research and input from other musicians I chose the SR405 series for the price and features combined. It's truly a great playing bass to my uneducated guitar fingers. The sound is everything I was looking for. The neck is what I've come to expect from Ibanez (comfortable, slim and playable). Playing a JEM and a couple other RGs with Wizard necks, it was an easy transition on the feel. I also thought it was cool that they had pictures of 4 different basses, with their weight, and I got to pick the one I liked the most. The figuring of the maple veneer on the one I chose looked good in the picture but was absolutely stunning when I saw it in person.

Living 3 hours away from a good music gear store means I use Sweetwater alot, I love their personalized customer service and follow up. The bass came in the hardcase that I purchased and was packed to survive the worst FedEx driver on the planet (you know, the careless creep we've all seen on social media videos). I definitely won't hesitate to buy another instrument through Sweetwater when the need (who am I kidding? Of course I'm going to need another piece of gear I can't live without soon) arises.
