Ibanez Standard SR300EB Bass Guitar - Weathered Black Reviews

4-string Electric Bass with Mahogany Body, Maple/Rosewood Neck, Jatoba Fretboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Weathered Black

Pick up the Ibanez SR300EB electric bass, and you'll quickly discover that Ibanez didn't sacrifice quality to bring you a value-packed bass guitar. In fact, the experience of playing the SR300EB is much like that of Ibanez's higher-end SR Series models, thanks to the SR300EB's sleek 5-piece maple/rosewood neck and comfortable mahogany arched body. A pair of Ibanez PowerSpan humbucking pickups packs a phenomenal punch, while a 3-band EQ with Power Tap creates a vast array of sound-shaping possibilities. When budding bass players are looking for a quality instrument, many Sweetwater Sales Engineers place the Ibanez SR300EB electric bass at the top of their list.

everything is almost perfect

By TaylorTheBassPlayer on January 5, 2024 Music Background: Jazz / Metal bass player

I have had this bass for a couple months and it is very nice, it is by far my favorite 4 string bass (As a 6 string bass player, check out my reviews of the Ibanez gsr206 the best beginner 6 string bass). For the price, you are getting even more then what you paid for with much more tone customization then any other 4 string bass I have played in the $ price range.

I have found nothing wrong with this bass besides the body being the most fragile thing ever because of the natural wood, but I think it looks cool (because i have not broke a chunk off of it yet).

I have put into another $ into the bass (New strings and a Hipshot extender) and that made it my favorite 4 string I will probably ever have.

Great Bass!

This is a great bass and not only for the price. It plays and sounds great! Ibanez continues to make amazing basses at all price points.

Beautiful Bass!

It's hard to beat this bass guitar at this price point. Fantastic tonality and plays like a dream. Solid build and smooth feel, with quite a bit of tone customization. I would recommend this to any bassist at any skill level

Great Bass!

By Sweetwater Customer on July 8, 2019

I've had this bass for about 2 months and I have to say it's awesome! Love the EQ and the neck feels so smooth/fast to play. Definitely above the quality of any "beginner" basses I have played and you can't beat the price & features. The only issue I could see someone having is this specific finish, it seems to wear very easily. I already have a mark above the pickup from where my thumb rests and under my G string from slapping. If you're someone that doesn't like the worn look (I personally do), one of the poly finishes might be better.

Also just want to say my first experience with Sweetwater was incredible, great customer service and shipping updates. Never felt out of the loop on the status of my order and everything was on time and well packaged. Will absolutely be a repeat customer!

Ibanez SR 300 EB bass

By Craig from Pennsylvania on August 7, 2018 Music Background: Retired musician, home studio recording

I wanted a nice bass for home studio. This bass plays really nice out of the box. Slender fast neck...preamp with lots of tonal options. Good bass at affordable price. Got it from Randy@ ext. 1780

Happy Customer

First order from sweetwater and couldn’t ask for better service. Bass arrived quickly and was packaged properly. The 300EB sounds and plays just as good as my higher end SR bass. Finish is impressive and everything is solid. Perfect intonation. Unpackaged and plugged it in, only slightly out of tune straight out of the box. Thank you Nate Burkhardt for providing excellent customer service.

My second bass

By Sweetwater Customer on August 25, 2017

This is the second bass ive ever bought in my life. This is way above those for beginners. I started learning bass with one for beginner and moved on to this one. Im satisfied with built quality and sound. It doesnt feel like a toy like the last one. However, im planning on buying a fender american professional jazz bass sonic gray since i became a professional musician. I played this bass all day without getting tired. I just wanted to step my game up.

Great Bass, Love the Ibanez SR300E's !!

By Davyo from Las Vegas Nv on June 20, 2017 Music Background: Lifetime Pro bass player, playing on a regular basis for a living

Just got my Weathered Black SR300E from Sweetwater, came perfect out of the box, Sweetwater's inspection thing before they send out equipment is great !!!
I also have the new Candy Apple Red SR300E and love it, but the feel of the Weathered Black is really nice as opposed to a painted finish.
The real wood feel of this stained black is just the coolest.
I'm typically a Fender P-Bass person but I'm really starting to like my Ibanez's more I think, the extra thin neck, the playability, the lighter weight, the huge amount of tonal variations are really impressive.
I'll still keep my P-Bass's but the SR300E's are quickly becoming my giging bass of choice.
Can't say anything negative about my 2 new SR300E's !!!
And the sound is so amazing !!!
I'm a BEAD player with ALL my bass's so the only I need to do is slap on a new set of BEAD strings.
Cheers
Davyo

Excellent for the price

By Sweetwater Customer on August 3, 2022

Writing a review after 5 years of owning this bass. I bought the Ibanez as a backup after the neck on my Fender Jazz Bass warped beyond repair. This bass is noticeably different. I am primarily a guitar player so I found it easier to play than my Fender. I recently replaced the neck on my Jazz bass and now I switch between the two. Here are my list of pros and cons for the Ibanez:

Pros: light weight, smaller than many other basses, fast neck, variety of tones, 5 piece neck usually only found on more expensive instruments, low action, excellent value for the price.

Cons: matte finish scratches easily, tone controls are complicated and can get confusing, low action requires neck adjustment every fall/spring.

Overall, I love this bass and will probably purchase another Ibanez in the future.
